Greetings Spartans,
Am I the only one who thinks Season 8 has been wasted?
I’m talking about the general cosmetics/theme of the season, the aren’t bad by any means but they don’t feel like Halo at all (too detailed, straight from the past)
Just now the are starting to drop the 20th Anniversary cosmetics with the first, yes THE FIRST new armour for Halo 2 Anniversary in 6 years of the game’s life (Yes I play since D1) they added cosmetics ranging from goofy skins to more “realistic” ones, long time wanted armours and new ones (bad or good ones, you decide) for all titles except Halo 2 (for the code’s mess under it I guess) and Halo 2 Anniversary (even tho it’s on the H4 engine, that had recently new cosmetics added)
I really feel like they completely forgot H2A, hoped to see a dedicated Season to bring it up even if it was for a bit instead of giving 75% of the contents added to Halo 3
I know H3 is the more popular, but it’s not the only one in the collection
So! Sorry about the little rant, what you Spartans think?
Let’s talk bout it
Another post complaining 343 doesn’t give their game enough attention. 7 years later and were still receiving free content for this game. Not only this, but under these content updates come with HUGE improvements / bug fixes across every game in the collection; THIS is more important to me than new armors. Let’s appreciate the fact that 343 didn’t leave this game to die like most developers / publishers would

Maybe you missed the point, I’m not complaining for the update, I’m just saying that they missed an opportunity to improve the COSMETIC side for H2A
Since the beginning of the “rebirth” of the game I was super happy about it and I still am, I’m just “sad” to see they give almost 0 attention at the title in particular, the even removed the only H2A Ranked playlist after a moth of it being added
So please, next time don’t just generalise, read whats the topic. No one is complaining about the state of the game (the opposite, we are glad to see they are still caring after troubled beginnings and al these years) it’s a discussion about cosmetic choices they made for the last season
There are no intention to talk about the gameplay part of things (in fact I selected the “Social” tag for the topic not “Gameplay”)
Although I would love to see H2A get new armours I feel almost as if this specific armour them works best with the game they are in so far. I love H2 so I am all for more customization; I just think this particular asset would not have fit as well.

I think you said the word that would be the strongest link to Season 8: Spartans. A few designs are a little hint at the “Spartan” theme, meaning the people of the city-state in old Greece. I personally started playing MCC during Season 7 and then didn’t like the Season 8 design. However, I then also started reading the book by Eric Nylund: “Halo - The Fall of Reach” and the Season 8 design made more sense with the repeated connection of how Master Chief evolved and the Spartan project One. With the AI “Déjà” dressed as it is and the famous Dr. H. during the admission ceremony, I actually came to like the repeated link to Spartan theme.

I read the topic dude and don’t take my comment as an attack on you personally. All I’m saying is the primary focus of these seasonal updates should be the improvements to the game, cosmetics should only be secondary. Look at all the improvements gameplay wise and visual wise across the board that is the key point of these updates.
While it would be nice to get new H2A armors in the game, I really don’t see it being a higher priority than the other games. All H2A really is, is a Halo 4 game with no sprint. And it was never a “mainline” release, because of this, the fanbase for H2A is very small. I think Halo CE and 2 should be more of a priority, and the good thing is they will continue to update MCC even in 2022. So don’t worry I’m sure they will add some new armors to H2A
As another person pointed out, the theme of Season 8 fits well into the “Spartan” theme, so I wouldn’t consider it a waste.

Of course gameplay it’s priority and I know the H2A fanbase it’s small compared to the others but maybe a reason is that? Very little to no customisation plus the small roaster of maps doesn’t help
Maybe add a bit of that helps increase the population?
(Don’t worry I’m not offended by the previous comment I tho you completely missed the topic)

What if it was an armour like Halo 5’s Achilles? That’s cool and “in line” with the art style

> What if it was an armour like Halo 5’s Achilles? That’s cool and “in line” with the art style
That’s true. It would be more in line with the remaining art style. The H5 Achilles armour is less daring towards the Greek theme and MCC Season8 is full-on Greek - especially with the Mythic Armour Bundle that was in the Exchange (The Exchange - Halopedia, the Halo wiki). I could imagine that the team of H5 and that of MCC Season Cosmetics are different and have different views of how much they want to dive into this. Maybe your type is more the H5 type.
And that would also be great, if they went that way for Season 8.
Come to think of it, maybe there is something about the H5 armour, why they called it Achilles. Because the spartans were not meant to be kings like Achilles was (or a singular champion). Their raising, training and goal was really much in line with the original Spartan philosophy. But then again, the Mjölnir armour is referring to a singular weapon of a god that was then given to them. Hmmm… Maybe it would be too much to interpret that giving the name “Achilles” would be a one special thing, and “Spartan” theme would be a full cosmetic roll-out of variations on this topic.
While I would have loved more h2a armors added I’m honestly just happy we got any new armors. I wasn’t expecting any of this after how the mcc launched way back when
Yes, H2A needs some love, and hopefully this special event is a hint of things to come in Season 9. But maybe it’s not.
As for the theme, Season 8 is supposed to be a preview of Fractures in Halo Infinite, which is why we got a host of clearly non-canon armor. Fractures are going to be monthly events that let us get armor that doesn’t need to fit Halo’s style because it won’t be canonized in any way, like Yoroi armor (the Samurai set we’ve seen so many times)
