Season 3 Wishlist

  1. Custom Games Browser is a must. The custom games side of the game is thriving right now BUT it is only really playable through joining discords and going out of your way to find ways to play. The custom games browser is the last piece of the puzzle for making the social side of the game incredible. Once the CGB is added the social playlist offerings aren’t as important as you will be able to join/host exactly the games you want to play.

  2. Desync and Network Issues need so much more work. This should be one of the highest priorities moving forward because it is the only thing letting the gameplay of the game down.

  3. The Ranked Playlist offerings need to be much better. Firstly remove the Solo/Duo queue for the 4v4 playlist. It is unnecessary and splits the playlist population. Secondly add back Ranked Doubles and Ranked FFA as permanent Ranked playlists. They are staples of Ranked Halo and are important (they also remove the need for the solo/duo queue). Also make Ranked FFA 6 Players as the 8 player ranked ffa does not work well in Infinite. Thirdly keep the rotational ranked playlist aswell as it is a great concept and will help keep things fresh. Keep Ranked Survivors in the rotational and add FFA Snipers, Team Snipers, SWAT, etc. to it aswell.

  4. Further Cross Core Implementation will be great for the game. We havent heard about it in a while and I think its important that coatings, helmets, chest pieces, utility, wrist, shoulder, etc. are all cross core (or as much as possible).

  5. Career Progression is important for the game. The battle pass is not enough, we need some form of account progression (SR152 or something similar would work). Also a Halo 3 Military Rank or Reach progression rank system aswell would be nice. Having the service record in game will also be important for this.

If all of this is implemented and we get to regular seasonality (3 months) I am confident Halo Infinite would become very popular and start to finally reach its potential.

I agree, especially on #1 and #2.

I also want them to sort out BTB Vehicle and weapon drops. In my last match the opposing team had 2 ghosts, the Tank and then a Wraith. And either someone was really greedy on our side or the weapons were not spawning in.

Also, please fix rockets. I’m seeing them about 30% of the time hit the ground and “nothing”. Almost looks like they don’t register there is ground there and they won’t detonate.

And I’d like to know when I’m facing PC players.

And I’d like a Game PlayList feature like Titanfall 2 had. You are presented with a list of game types (i.e BTB Slayer, BTB CTF, QuickPlay CTF, QuickPlay Slayer etc.), you uncheck the ones you don’t want to play, and when you start the PlayList, it randomly selects one of those game modes, and only those game modes to play. That would increase the randomness of the game play and give us control over what we get.

I’d still like to have the vehicle, weapon, and equipment sandbox expand a bit as well. I know we are having the Bandit (DMR) being added, but there are so many missing items in the game too. Railgun, Fuel Rod Canon, Splaser, SAW, and so many others that never made it into this game.

That’s way too many requests for that short of time.

Look at what 343 have and have not done in a year. Look at what’s been requested since before day one that’s STILL not in game. Factor in the abysmally slow pace they go to just decide on something then actually implement it… I bet most of what you wrote won’t show for at least another year or so. Why? Cause they already have that roadmap of “content” planned out & adding to it is just too much for them. They have a leadership issue, they deal with lots of freelance devs & asking for bare minimum stuff seems to be too much of an ask.

I’d love to see a speedy turnaround with a ton of features implemented and core features fixed, but reality is, it’s just not gonna happen by season 3.

343i has said something about at least #2 and #5. IDK when #5 will roll out but #2 should be getting a patch this season.

From the Sandbox Balance Updates | Winder Update news post

  • NETWORKING “DESYNC” IMPROVEMENTS

To go after networking improvements (including “desync”), we needed to identify all the various ways the issues could present themself. As covered in our “Closer Look” blog covering the topic, there isn’t a single issue causing all of the problems many classify as desync. Each issue is its own individual bug that we have to find, investigate, reproduce, fix, test, and implement.

In the case of networking and “desync,” we focused in on a few key areas:

  • Desync: When the server says you’re in one place on the map while your client shows you in a different spot.
  • Blank Shots: You fire shots at a player and see them connect, but the bullets deal no damage.
  • Getting shot around walls/corners: You think you’re safely around the corner, but you are dealt a fatal blow from a player who no longer has line-of-sight on you.
  • Ghosts Melees: When you melee a player and hear the hit, but no damage is dealt.

To add to the complexity, sometimes there are multiple ways to encounter the same issue, which means we need to include multiple fixes to truly help reduce how often players experience it. For example, many reports of blank shots we’ve seen are the result of a fake reload bug. A player’s client shows that they have completed the reload, but the server never received that final reload confirmation – likely due to the reload being interrupted – so it thinks their weapon is still empty. The player’s client lets them fire a full barrage of shots, but the server sees this trigger input as if it was happening on an empty magazine, so it reads it as no bullets being fired at all. While it appears as “blank shots” to the player, finding and addressing the root cause is typically more complicated.

With that said, we do have desync related improvements planned to land in the next few updates.

GHOST MELEES

Sandbox Team Dev Note: Hitting a player and seeing them walk away unscathed, or worse, hitting you back and killing you, is extremely frustrating. We focused on this one due to how un-fun it can be, but we’re happy to say that we’re testing some improvements for a few different bugs that were resulting in melee registration issues.

BLANK SHOTS

Sandbox Team Dev Note: We mentioned it a bit above, but the fake reload issue is one reason contributing to why players could have blank shots. We know there are other instances of shots not counting aside from fake reloads, and we’ll be going after those too, but we’re happy to be bringing this out first.

VEHICLE DESYNC

Sandbox Team Dev Note: Since we’ve seen that players are more likely to experience full desyncs when operating a vehicle than moving around as a Spartan, we set our sights on crushing bugs in this space. You can expect some targeted vehicle desync improvements in the next update.

There will still be more work to do on networking and desync – on the specific issues above and others that may arise – but we’re making it a priority and you should see a steady flow of improvements in future updates.

In addition to those networking improvements, we’ve also got a few more balance updates that we’ll be going after in the future as well.

From the Match XP Beta & Progression | Winter Update news post

  • CAREER PROGRESSION

In addition to these improvements for Match XP, Challenges, Ultimate Rewards, and your Battle Pass progression, the team is also continuing to work on an overarching Career Progression system.

We’ll have more to share on that in the future, but it is important to plant a stake in the ground at this point and make clear that what’s coming in the Winter Update is just the beginning of broader changes to come.

I disagree. We already know Custom Games Browser is scheduled for Season 3. Desync and Network improvements are ongoing priority QoL updates. Ranked playlists havent been featured on the roadmap and seem to be fairly easy for 343 to update regularly now. And we had cross core in a drop pod before which wasnt announced on the roadmap. The only one I can say that probably wont be in the game until Season 4 earliest is Career Progression.

Any of the following would suffice

MAIN CANON ARMOR CORES

  • Mark I Gen-3

    • A MJOLNIR Gen-3 recreation of Dr. Halsey’s original MJOLNIR design, reduced in size so it now form-fits to the human body rather than as a Mech-Suit.
  • Mark II Gen-3

    • Ditto, but with MJOLNIR Mark II designs.
  • Mark III Gen-3

    • Ditto’s Ditto but with MJOLNIR Mark III designs.
  • Mark IV Gen-1

    • The “original” MJOLNIR armor donned by Spartans. Likely to be added in with a Halo Wars themed season.
  • Mark V Gen-1

    • The original MJOLNIR armor that players wore when Halo was first unleashed back in 2001.
  • Mark VI Gen-1

    • The standard model of Spartan armor from Halo 2 and Halo 3.
  • Mark VII Gen-1

    • The original prototype model of MJOLNIR Mark VII that was being put into service after the Human-Covenant war. I recommend using the design linked below, as the armor is supposed to be derived from the Mark V[B] design, while also clearly being a design upgrade to the Mark VI platform.
  • Mark VI Gen-3

    • Technically already in the game of Halo Infinite, but campaign exclusive. I propose that upon completing the entirety of the Halo Infinite story, players should be rewarded with this Armor Core.
  • Mark VII Gen-3

    • The standard issue MJOLNIR armor for Spartan IVs and also the default Armor Core of Halo Infinite. The majority of Halo 4 and Halo 5’s armor set sequels should be placed here, with redesigns where need be.
  • Mark VIII Gen-3

    • A sequel design to the MJOLNIR Mark VII Gen-3, released in Year 3 of Halo Infinite’s 10 year life-span.
  • Mark IX Gen-3

    • Ditto, but a sequel to the Mark VIII Gen-3 and released in Year 6 of Halo Infinite.
  • Mark X Gen-4

    • Ditto’s Ditto, but a sequel to the Mark IX Gen-3. Released at the start of Year 9, all subsequent MJOLNIR platforms through the remainder of Year 9 and 10 will be Gen-4 models when it comes to main-canon core content.
  • Killerbee Gen-3

    • Spartan Laurette Agryna’s MJOLNIR Armor Core, which was specifically designed to be an Officer’s armor core. Fitting since she is the Acting Commander of the Spartan IVs in the absence of Commander Sarah Palmer. Named “Killerbee” after Spartan Agryna’s personal insignia on the chestplate.
  • S.P.I. Mk.1

    • The original Prototype designs of Semi-Powered Infiltration armor, back when it was being designed for use by ODST teams. These designs have been resurfaced and kitted with the necessary upgrades to be rated for Spartan use.
  • S.P.I. Mk.2

    • The Semi-Powered Infiltration Armor that was utilized for the majority of Spartan-IIIs. Now outfitted with similar MJOLNIR specs akin to the Rakshasa Armor core to be better utilized by Spartan Headhunter teams.
  • Mirage Gen-3

    • A full-on proper hybrid of MJOLNIR and S.P.I. design, ideal for use of Spartan Lone Wolves, Headhunters, or typical stealth Spartan operations.
  • Firefall Gen-3

    • The obligatory ODST themed MJOLNIR Armor Core. Designed for ODST operations of course and being very military-oriented in design fashion. By default, the core contains LITERALLY ALL ODST themed cosmetics from the franchise. To be released alongside the launch of Firefight modes.
  • Gladiator Gen-3

    • An Armor Core utilized by Gladiators, Spartans who were forced to submit to the Banished and become their warriors. Some snapped and joined the Banished. But a few still harbor a desire to atone for their actions and return to the UNSC. A hybrid of MJOLNIR and Banished design, forged by Pavium.
  • ONI Section-3 Gen-3

    • Specialized MJOLNIR Armor utilized by ONI Section Spartans. Heavily classified and only 21 models issued before the UNSC Infinity was lost. A sequel to the Hunter-Class MJOLNIR Gen-2 armor of Halo 5 Guardians.

FRACTURES ARMOR CORES

  • FRACTURES DEMIGOD - Belos

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Humanity followed the design culture norms of Ancient Greece. Actual Greek Spartan designed Power Armor. Reimagined designs from Halo MCC also included.
  • FRACTURES ROUNDTABLE - Blackguard

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Humanity followed the design culture norms of Medieval Europe. Knight-designed Power Armor. Reimagined designs from Halo MCC also included.
  • FRACTURES RAGNAROK - Drengr

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Humanity followed the design culture norms of Nordic mythology. Vikynr-designed Power Armor. Reimagined designs from MCC also included.
  • FRACTURES DEVOUT - Acolyte

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Humanity was absorbed into the Covenant and became devout Acolytes to the faith. When we discovered the truth of the Reclaimers and decided to destroy a Halo Ring, we caused the Great Schism. Arbiter Thel Vadam’ee and Chiefmaster John fight against the Covenant. Covenant-designed Power Armor inspired by Halo 5’s “Helioskrill” set.
  • FRACTURES EPIMETHEUS - Titan

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where the Didact targeted the UNSC Infinity with the Composer instead of New Phoenix. The result was the creation of a new form of Promethean Warrior from the Spartans - The Titans. However, these Titans were not under The Didact’s control. Acting as individuals that are connected via their own hive-mind; the newly formed Titans destroy the Composer, The Didact, and The Mantle’s Approach form the inside. Now led by Master Chief Petty Officer John-S117, the true Last of the Spartans; these Titans protect Humanity whatever the cost. The armor core is Forerunner/Promethean in design, somewhat resembling the design aspects of “Prefect” armor from Halo 4.
  • FRACTURES RECLAMATION - Inheritor

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Humanity had successfully fulfilled their genesong and succeeded in Reclaiming the Forerunner Legacy; thanks to The Covenant never being formed in the first place. Now the dominant force in the galaxy, they expand across the cosmos. Though now the races that make up the Covenant in the main continuity have formed The Coalition in order to attempt to defy the Dominion of Humanity, desiring their own freedom over the governance of Humanity. Armor Core is hyper-advanced in design, resembling the design of the “Hellcat” armor set of Halo 5.
  • FRACTURES GUARDIANSHIP - Machina

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where Cortana’s Created were relentless in their forced submission of the entire galaxy. So relentless in fact, that she forced augmentation to such a degree on the soldiers she captured that they are now mindless cyborgs that follow her every order. Think something akin to the borg from Star Trek. As a result, the armor core is a mixture of heavily modified cyberization of the human body. Hardly anything remains flesh and blood except the bare necessities needed for survival of the host body.
  • FRACTURES GRIFBALL - Ricochet

    • Alternate Universe Fracture where soldiers that retire have found a new meaning to life by pushing the boundaries of extreme sports thanks to their augmentations. As a result, sporting equipment now has military upgrades applied to it and viewer ratings are higher than ever. The Armor design is very sportlike and is nearly a 1-to-1 recreation of Halo 4’s “Ricochet” armor set.

META-FRACTURES

  • META-FRACTURES MILLENNIUM - Orion

    • Alternate Universe Meta-Fracture in which Halo maintained its course when Microsoft bought Bungie from under Macintosh. As a result, Halo remained an RTS stylized game with a 25 mission story mode. And the Spartans retained their original 1999 armor design.
  • META-FRACTURES WASTELAND - T-117 Power Armor

    • Alternate Universe Meta-Fracture in which Fallout’s timeline deviates from the normal timeline. Basically we still nuked ourselves in 2077. And when the year 2560 comes around and we are finally organized enough to colonize the moon and Mars . . . the Covenant show up and start warring with the Zetans and Humanity. T-117 Power Armor is more slim than regular Fallout Power Armor, but has cosmetic items from said other Power Armor models.
  • META-FRACTURES COALITION - Meatgrinder

    • Alternate Universe Meta-Fracture where Gears of War has a cross-over with Halo. Basically the Covenant discover the planet of Sera; where the Forerunners also seeded Humanity. And surprisingly, the Humans there put up an effective fight against the alien invaders. Eventually the UNSC discovered Sera and formed a Coalition Pact with the denizens of Sera. Meatgrinder armor is a hybrid of MJOLNIR design with C.O.G. and U.I.R. engineering.
  • META-FRACTURES DOOMWALKER - Praetorian

    • Alternate Universe Meta-Fracture where the UNSC was experimenting with Slipspace portals and accidentally opened a portal to the alternate dimension that is HELL ITSELF! Spartans are deployed to fight the demonic invasions, and the Master Chief soon discovers a god-like man that the Demons fear. Working alongside the Doomslayer, they craft Praetorian MJOLNIR; a hybrid of design from Doom Guy’s Praetor Suit and MJOLNIR armor engineering; with cosmetics from Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal.

I’m not sure we’re talking about the same company here. Nothing seems to be fairly easy with the work 343 does. And nothing goes according to plan or on time anymore. Ya kinda gotta put aside hopes and just accept how things are. I’d like to see things happen in a timely manner, but reality is, they’re REALLY struggling & delays are constant. Just wouldn’t count on tons of features/fixes in a short amount of time.

(Somewhat) Realistic hopes:

  1. Infection, grifball, all the missing legacy gametypes really, such that the customs browser can launch with the greatest variety of options that it can. Customs are peak Halo and I think are the last step to getting Infinite to where it needed to be
  2. Cross core enabled for all armor coatings, as well as all pieces between Mark V[B] and Mark VII (with the exception of Jorge’s chest piece, which has unavoidable clipping issues). Depending on how feasible it’ll be to have armor pieces be repositioned between cores, for as many pieces to be cross core with Rakshasa as possible. Helmets, knees, and gloves already work decently well with the other two canon cores and vice versa. Things get a lot trickier with shoulders and chest pieces given how differently shaped Rakshasa is, but again as many as is reasonable. The fracture cores can sit it out, but helmets at least could probably be cross core.
  3. BTB variants with vehicles being set spawns ALA the past halos. Hopefully with an option to opt in to only said variants.
  4. More playlists available at once, right now the limited amount of options really suck and end up screwing nicher parts of the community.

Less realistic wants that are more for the game in the future as a whole:

  1. One more canon core in the form of Master Chief’s Mark VI gen 3, with armor variants modelled after Halo 3’s armor, its concept art, and Silver Team’s armor from the show since their designs are like the only decent things to come out of that mess. After that, cooling it with the core system until further kinks can be worked out.
  2. Invasion being brought back, alongside playable elites. Bonus points for elites also being playable in all social gamemodes besides like SWAT and snipers. Shrink them down in other gamemodes if you want, I don’t care I want my funi dinosaurs.
  3. Shop prices to be once again halved across the board, at least.
  4. Dedicated ranking system outside of competitive or the battle pass. It’d give people something to work for outside of the weeklies and battle pass.

Definitely agree about the Desync issues and cross core. Thiufh persobally I still think the biggest issue in the game is maps. Unfortunately most of the OG maps are really not great; very linear and restrictive to specific ways of moving, thag makes the games predictable and dry.

Now that Forge is out it’s abundantly clear that the mao design is the main reason why so many people found this game boring, and lacking in the clasic Halo zest. The maps don’t allow for creative play; from any point there are only a few, pre-designed routes one can legitimately take. Forged maps, including remakes of older games, are already proving much more fun to play on, so personally I think 343’s priority should be on adding more new maps, with greater crearive freedom.

Having the service record in game will also be important for this.–agreed…
im suprised theres no par times or par score for this as there has been in all previous games inc halo wars…
also a cheeve for 14 missions in 8 hours i think so it would be nice to see the times it took us to do each level …!
