Season 2 Feedback from a High Level player

  • Last Spartan Standing while fun is completely unbalanced. WAY to many ordinance drops make the game unfun at higher levels of plays. When you finally get to a showdown on the final circle it’s a rush to the power ups and whoever has it wins.

Additionally if you have extra lives you are spawned into the danger zone. I don’t know who decided this or why but that’s just frankly not good game design.

  • SBMM is still the most frustrating aspect of this game. I play against literal ONYX’s every game which in ranked would be fine but it’s just not fun when i’m trying to vibe out and turn my brain off in a social/event playlist. I want to play like pleb and have fun but every game is so sweaty.

  • Map Weapon reworks feel almost like a waste of time besides the loot vault on fragmentation. I’d argue the few games i played on deadlock played exponentially worse then the 100’s before. Why?

Where the BR/Commando spawned was 2 commando’s
then in the Sniper rack was Commandos???

So we added Ghosts to the map with no base weapon option to take them out.

  • Breaker The map design is a solid meh. Aesthetically impressive but doesn’t really play well in BTB. The map is massive making it impossible to kill anyone with out a mid/long range weapon.

Vehicle play is fairly insignificant because of the gross elevation options players have. I’d seriously consider bringing in members of the forge community to play test these maps. While breaker is one of the most unique maps we have thus far i think there is something critically wrong with Halo’s current map design philosophy.

Except Highpower/Fragmentation those maps slap…

There is a Hydra Launcher right by the base btw.

I’ve been playing a bunch of Onyx players too. Don’t see the point of playing against worse people every game though. Unfair for them, not fun for me.

Everyone gets access to the powerups, use yours wisely in the endgame. If they were less frequent it would increase chance one person has one and other doesn’t which is a death sentence most the time.

I got absolutely treated by an Onyx 2000+ player earlier. At least I killed them and prevented a perfection but damn was rough. If we play with Plat players they don’t have a chance, probably won’t get kills. We need to be kept together. SBMM is kinda necessary to make sure everyone can enjoy and ultimately get their wins. It already feels pretty loose, as lots of players are clearly inexperienced and I’ve been getting loads of wins. It’s always the Onyx players at the end though.

Well if a self-proclaimed “high level player” says it, surely it must be true.

It’s definitely a slippery slope with SBMM. I don’t really think it’s completely necessary in it’s current form though. The original trilogy did matchmaking very well it wasn’t about balance because not everything has to or should be a sweat-fest. I’m not saying we should dunk on the new players but it definitely hurts the game when people are forced to play their heart out every single game.

I disagree with drops completely. I don’t think they are balanced well. It really hinders the game play more then it helps it.

If we can’t have weapon pick ups, why should we have power ups?

How can an opinion be true or not? Have an open mind.

Yup. For all the hate desync gets, the current implementation of TrueSkill 2 is actually this game’s biggest problem.

It ruins social modes because it will give good players sandbag teammates to ensure a “balanced” game, or will just make sure if you are Onyx that everyone else is Onyx too.

And it ruins ranked modes because it doesn’t match games based on CSR, but on a global hidden MMR affected by your kills per minute across all game modes.

This is the only game on the market where you can be a top 5% player in terms of your skill and yet get you get the in-game player experience of a brand new bottom 5% Bronze 1 newbie where you get dumped on in most of your games.

You respawn as close as possible to the final battle without being in the final battle because that would lead to spawn camping.

Forces movement as they’re kinda necessary as the player pool gets smaller. You don’t want to be caught without one or you can get a big advantage by popping and attacking with it. Very anti-camper inclusion into the game. They are very frequent I agree, but it would be annoying if you got zoned out of them and the enemy gets one easy. At least now everyone has a fair shot at them but they’re still usually in open places so you’re giving up your position to get one.

I dunno about SBMM, I used to think it was too harsh but admittedly I rarely go easy on anyone and I definitely play social a lot more casually than ranked and still dominate most the time. I play with music or documentaries on, when I’m tired and generally do challenges or mess around a bit and still smash people. In ranked I literally have to use meta strats and full concentration with headset on to keep up. It’s leagues apart imo.

I wish they put in a big f-ing arrow that pointed you to the inner circle because when you spawn in with the screen red and you’re dying its hard to orient yourself sometimes lol.

I also want to point out that the removing of skill gaps is very, very sad. Surprised they didn’t remove super sliding yet.

There is a waypoint. It’s not a

But it’s an arrow.

I appreciate the indepth review from your perspective. A high level player complaining about playing other high level players? That’s the point of this matchmaking system to keep games competitive.

Watching some games of Last Spartan Standing, I agree with you that the balance of the gametype is off. How to fix it? I honestly have no idea.

Thank you for sharing fellow Spartan.
