What are we getting in the S2 BP?
Lets see.
Spartan Armor pieces=68
Coatings=17
Emblems/Backdrops=11
Kill effect=1
Armor FX=1
Mythic set=1
Weapon charm=3
Stances=2
AI color=3
107 rewards.
Then 56 CS/boosts
Then 10 credit drops (100)
So, in total, 163 rewards.
Add in 4 rewards for the 2 levels that got skipped in the livestream, and that comes out to 177, which is the total reward count.
All in all, I think this is a good BP, the meat of it is really Spartan focused, but also has some other stuff mixed in as well.
Thoughts?
Do you think this is a good BP?
- Yes, this is a great BP
- It is better but still needs some work
- It is still bad
My main complaint is still the shoulder pieces being separate rewards. But I think overall this is better for sure. Not sure if we will ever get there, but I want to see the idea of challenge swaps completely gone. Removing the harder ones is nice for now, but I’d prefer no challenges, just exp from what we do in game. I REALLY HATE having to play FFA, quickplay, fiesta to complete random challenges. I swap those out but ideally we should be able to just play whatever we want and get exp.

Yeah every time I see a single shoulder as an award I’m immediately upset. Especially when it’s a single shoulder on a single tier. That’s just asinine. And to top it all off, pairing it with something like a challenge swap or an XP boost is not really that impressive. It’s basically still just the shoulder.
After looking at the Battle pass I think realistically this is my only complaint for right now is that they’re still doing a single shoulder as a tier.

Honestly, as the core restrictions diminish and the seasons shorten to half their current length, this type of pass will be really great. Almost 70 new cosmetic pieces that can be ostensibly configured with any Canon core (once the core locks are done away with) will be a huge boon to players’ armories.
I still consider the non-cosmetic tiers to be essentially filler, especially given that so many of the backend progression and challenge elements for the game remain in a very uncertain state which renders XP Boosts and Challenge Swaps to be of questionable long term value. So, I’d like to see those systems solidified going forward or just for future battle passes (prior to these systems being overhauled) to have fewer and fewer non-cosmetic tiers.
Maybe the biggest issue overall is that another 100 tier pass feels woefully inadequate for another six month season. I think that number of tiers will feel very appropriate when 343i gets into the swing of things and is releasing a new season approximately every three months, but clearly the 100 tier BP for season one hasn’t been enough to keep a huge player base engaged with this game since November.

The XP boosts are useless tbh.
The passes are permanent if you buy them, and that’s how you get the XP boosts, so there is literally no point to them other than to be filler.
I would say they are useless to people who are putting a lot of time into the game. On the other hand there definitely are people willing to pay to progress faster and it is FTP so I can see why they put those in the game. So I don’t really mind them if they are a second reward on that tier, as long as I get something nice as well - basically a side dish for the people who like them. I think there are a few tiers that only give the consumables and I think that is an area with room for improvement.
But I like the way you put it initially: 107 rewards + consumables. And 107 rewards is an ok deal.
Overall I think my bigger issue is that I don’t feel especially thrilled for many of the pieces that are in there. But it’s of course possible that something will grow on me. And I do like that they continue adding stuff for the Mark VII.
You can progress pretty fast in the game already.
I finished the BP within 3 months without premium, so I would’ve finished it way faster with premium.
