Season 2 Article (Remove the Fluff)

They are banking on Season 2. But lets break down whats actually going to happen next month.

1.A new armor core. - Instead of adding the items to Mk5 or Mk7 cores they will introduce a 4th Core to the game. While they themselves noted Cross core customization is a highly requested feature, they have still added another core- and more ways to sell shader bound coatings.

  1. Two new maps. Ok good, no issue with that. My only concern is that the comp “ranked” community will not like the map and it could end up like Behemoth- say what you will about the map, but by removing it and adding a new map- we only have the same number of ranked maps we had at launch.

  2. 1000 Credits. Ok they are letting us earn 1000 credits back during the battle pass. Which is the cost of the Season 1 battle pass. Its a step in the right direction, but if they announce S2 battle pass is now 2000 credits, then your not getting anything…

  3. S2 Battle pass. New things to unlock per game, per challenge. Should maintain the community for as long as the S1 pass did. Only issue i can see is what happens after? There’s no progression system coming in. So once you hit the max rank in the battle pass, the playerbase will enter the same state it’s in now.

  4. No more emblems/name plates in the weekly challenges. Ok, sounds good, the weekly rewards are stronger which may see people focus on them more so than in Season 1.

And that’s it, that’s May.
Time will tell if this is enough.

So more people focusing on getting challenges rather than winning the game. Sound fantastic.

Problem exists now, no changes.
I’m guilty of that, especially during the TacOps event that required kill joys. I was running around not shooting back till the team had sprees, then I’d start shooting back.

A flaw with the current Challenge system, still not addressed. I mean they are removing “killjoy” challenges, but others still exist.

It’s certainly fair to break down the blog post into what’s actually happening soon vs what they’re planning on doing eventually.

But while a lot of the other stuff is frustratingly intangible in terms of when it’s actually happening, it is important to at least note that 343i is working on these things.

I don’t think this game will have a great player engagement system until probably Season 4-5 at the earliest, but the only way it’s going to get there is through relatively small strides at a time. S2 is a start.

The LW core cosmetics were probably already in development when the game launched, so not surprised that we are getting another core.
I don’t mind cores, it gives you lots of different options, it is just that stuff that can be crosscore (helmets, visors, coatings, gloves) aren’t.
Also, would be nice to get the chests, wrists, shoulders, utilities, knee pads crosscore as well, but we’ll have to wait for that.

Don’t play ranked much so I don’t really care, but I understand the issue.

*gets good news"

tries to turn it into bad news

Man, this community, lol

S2 is 3 months, so it won’t be as bad.
You’ll finish the pass a month or so until S3, so you won’t have much downtime to be bored.

Still hoping for a weekly store where the challenges award you tokens and then you spend the tokens on past weekly ultimates

I don’t mean to make it into bad news. But if they charge 2000credits for the season 2 pass then it’s negating the 1000 credits to earn is all. We need to watch that closely is all I’m saying

Credit where credits due, they are doing what they can with the hand they are dealt.
I would just love to avoid a season 2 end, season 3 gap where nothing seems to be done. The now we are in I guess.

Hopefully they staff up and continue to keep the weekly updates posted.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, earning 1000 CR allows you to get the next Premium Battle Pass without needing to buy any more credits. If you complete the BP, you’ll have earned all of its customization content and all of your credits back. 1/2

Trying to turn good news into bad news.

I think that issue is a problem with challenges. If a challenge is so hard you have to either throw a game, or focus on it completly then it should be modified. The kill joy one is a good example. But getting kills with a stalker rifle is something you can do without going super far out of your way to do it.

Unless the gametype you want to paly doesnt have it, or the map doesnt spawn it, or other people have that challenge and take, and on and on.

Pvp is the challenge in pvp.

Leave that other garbage in campaign and firefight, where it belongs.

I should never have a challenge that asks me to do so ething other than try to win the match the best way i know how.

This game will continue to be on my ignore list so long as they leave the challenge system in. They need to completely remove it, put in a REAL progression system that doesnt affect gameplay in any way, and then later, if they insist, add back challenges that do not affect gameplay.

I should never have a challenge in pvp that causes me to focus on something other than playing/winning the match the best way i know how.

Put those challenges in campaign and firefight. pvp is the challenge.

Im not coming back until i can play without worrying about this stupid garbage system.

The thing is, challenges are supposed to be hard.
No one has a problem with challenges that are hard as long as they are hard because they require skill.

Challenges that are hard because they are RNG on the other hand…

It is not enough. Season 2 will give us a shot of adrenalin and we’ll feel good for a little while, but the underlining issues are still going to be there and we will continue to bleed out.

That’s not May…that’s 3 or more months worth of the content you’ll be getting. Def need a progression system outside the battlepass pass too. I heard they’re working on one. Let’s hope it’s as good as reach.

No battle pass is worth 20 bucks. Besides, if it was, you’d be getting 50% off.

What happens after? People complain to 343 that there isnt enough incentive to continue playing their barren wasteland of a live-service lie and then subsequently get shamed by the white knights of the 343 supporters for “not playing Halo for the sake of Halo.”

I hate that argument so much because it excuses the fact that 343 is putting in little to no effort to even attempt to keep their player base engaged in their game. They claim that its live service, yet the updates the come out with happen on a monthly basis and only cover the most minor aspects of the game.

This is probably the only thing i can see as being incentive enough for people to keep playing. Which is good. Another argument i hate is when people defend predatory microtransaction shops by saying “well its only cosmetic items, so it doesnt matter at all.” As if unlocking cool looking gear isnt another layer of the game. Its another form of progression, and it doubles as a way for players to justify spending time working towards some goal of theirs in the game. Seems to be the only answer for the lack of level progression.

Anyway, sounds decent enough, but 343 needs to do a lot more than just this in order to recover from their colossal flounder at launch. They butchered the first impression of their game, and a lot of players probably wont return for a long time because of it. Theyve stumbled into EA territories of game flops….

Its 1000 credits for the premium pass. Meaning you’ll get your money back technically. But not for the free pass.

I don’t care what they add… playing halo in 2022 with always on demand lag is the worst part about Halo Infinite. Lol it’s a joke. I stopped playing for two weeks got back on still high ping servers 45, 55, 60, etc… played BF42 had a better connection in a complete broken game then this… so over it. I won’t play until Halo Infinite connection issues are fixed.

The challenge system exists so that you are encouraged to spend money on the game. The sin of vanity and the indulgence of cosmetics.

Do us a favour in the future refuse to take part in any such distraction. Or at least in ranked play - unless of course the challenge is to win!

I’m not against challenges or cosmetics but I think there is a time and a place. I’d rather see them in campaign or PvE modes.

See you guys in season 4-5… Hopefully it’s great
