Season 2 - 3 Months or 6?

This is the ultimate question at this point.
Will season 3 be delayed and cause Season 2 to run for 6 months as per season 1, or have they got to a stage where the season will be the previously announced 3 month duration.

While the franchise is now being tailored to the “broader audience”, hence the developers replying on twitter instead of their own forums, one can still come here for general discussion. So what do you think?
Will season 2 be extended? Will forge be pushed back/ delayed.
Will season 3 be delayed.
Will 2 new maps cover us for the next 6 months if it is?
Do you have high hopes for campaign co-op and will its unannounced addition during season 2 be enough?

Or do you think the season2 battle pass is enough in itself?

Let me know. Curious to see how this hardcore fan base is thinking. Even if 343i isn’t

I think it’s kind of a moot point at the moment.

The important thing is what is coming in Season 2. What is being fixed. What do the new maps play like. How will the new Battlepass work (credits etc). How will the shop change. What are they doing to challenges. Campaign co-op. New playlists. etc.

Any delay to Season 3 is kind of irrelevant at this point. And I think that narrative comes across as very negative thinking.

Even if there is a delay to Season 3… that would only be relevant if Season 2 was sparse of content. We’re struggling now because the last half of Season 1 is pretty much just squeezing the life out of the Tenrai event.

Extending Season 2 would be fine if the content flowed appropriately.

And lastly, even if there is a delay to Season 3 - why does that automatically have to push back Forge etc. I know that they have used “seasons” to date things - but they could just as well use a yearly quarter, or specific month.

I appreciate 343 have done little to inspire confidence to this point. But seriously, it’s time to excited about Season 2 and what’s coming. To look beyond this is glass 1/8th full type of stuff.

Based on the blogposts: Season 2 on launch is not gonna be enough if that is indeed all they are gonna offer us for the entirety of Season 2. No doubt they may have things planned to drop midseason, and I’m gonna be judging based on that mid season drop.

Hopefully Season 2 isn’t extended and we are pushed into Season 3 on schedule, but it really depends on how 343 keeps the playerbase interested. If they delay Season 2 but drop a couple more maps as well as more modes for us to play with, then people will keep playing until Season 3 is ready. If they starve us for content like they did with Season 1, then sadly, Halo Infinite is not gonna be worth touching past the first month.

At this point, I think they should put upcoming seasons on hold until there is a strong enough foundation for this game.

By that I mean the problem with 343’s Human Resources, but probably most important: Forge and Custom Game Browser (And other stuff like cross core etc…).

If they reached this point, they can promote a big re-opening with Season XY.

But until then, I don’t mind Infinite being dormant/a beta, as it obviously still is.

We never heard of any other seasons than S1 running for more than 3 months, so it is my assumption that it will be 3 months. As far as I can tell the seasons are mainly relevant for the MP narrative, Events and customization aspects.

Stuff like Coop or Forge might get delayed, without delaying a season. It’s obviously not great if those get delayed any further but it seems to be the model they are working off of.

So if they manage to get there new cosmetics, cinematics and events together for each Season (and I think that is quite doable), then they can drop seasons as planned. Other stuff (like bugfixes) can drop without being tied to a season and should drop throughout the season. We’ll see if this is what actually happens.

As far as I know, Season 2 was planned to release in May- as we know- and then continue on for 3 months.

That could be outdated information, but I haven’t been told otherwise. We’ll see soon enough.

I don’t think people really care about the arbitrary nature of a battle pass and which season it is. I think gamers just want more content and modes. Like behind a season number or not. For example, why wait for a season to start? More modes and maps are needed. Just drop them. It matters even less since in my opinion season 1 was really season 0 (we need to put out something so here you go, $10.00 usd please) . I still think a refund for season 1 is in order for a number or reasons, with BTB being down for weeks as just one. I think someone from 343 said something to the effect of “step away from it” and “so my vote is to always move to something that brings a smile to your face.” Which to me sounds like “we created an arguably substandard product that you paid money for, if you don’t like it, deal with it.”

I believe it will be extended for sure.

I mean, the silence is deafening on this topic.

You would think if it was 3 months, they would’ve clarified it by now due to all of the worry about it.

I think the simple reason we don’t know is because 343i don’t know yet and they are stalling. There’s still no sign of the roadmap and they can’t produce a roadmap without confirmed details and dates of forthcoming content. They’ll most likely hold out confirming either way for as long as possible until they can confirm internally what and when S3 content can be realistically delivered.

Pretty much this.

According to Halo Hub on twitter Season 3 will be delayed.

Microsoft and subsequently 343i are usually good with dispelling rumor’s when they aren’t true. (I’d imagine this being the case with something as catastrophic as a Season Delay).

It’s really up in the air whether it’ll be 3 or 6 months but given we don’t have a road map yet and 2 total maps after 6 months of Season 1 i’m leaning towards a 6 MONTH season.

I don’t want any more delays. Hope they can keep the content flowing steady.

It will be what it will be, all we’ll be able to do is stomp our feet.

As long as they don’t turtle up the content like they did with season 1 then it won’t be so bad.

I’m sorry, delaying forge is not irrelevant.

The fact that we haven’t heard and we’re well under a month from the launch of Season 2 is concerning. To me, it indicates that 343i A) Isn’t confident one way or the other (which means they’ll default to six months at the last minute) or B) Knows full well that it’ll be a six or more month gap between season 2-3 and just doesn’t want to generate the negative buzz that would inevitably occur if they confirmed it.

I sure hope that Season 3 doesn’t get delayed. Two new maps is nice and enjoyable, but we need more. Releasing forge will create that community variable to create maps that can be added into playlists or playlist rotations.

He’s been proven to be a shill, just ignore him

It depends.

Look at Season 2. They have met their deadline to drop that in early May. But have pushed back introducing Co-Op. So really we are getting season 2 and then season 2.5 when Co-Op.

If there’s an issue with Forge then they are probably going to do something similar. Push Forge back to December. But still drop the multiplayer content in terms of maps, armour, new modes etc. I don’t think they can sell that it’s reasonable they can’t put that content out the door in three months.

Also, I think we might well get a campaign DLC announcement at E3 which with a nice snappy trailer might generate a lot more buzz.

Just one thing, I am surprised they haven’t put any new guns in Season 2. Maybe new guns will be tied to campaign DLC releases?

I think the point was Forge doesn’t need to be released with Season 3.

That’s the only reason Season 3 would be delayed.

“Do you have high hopes for campaign co-op”
Not really. Would be more excited for it if there was new campaign content to explore, like new vehicles and areas with different biomes. But we all know that’s a looooong way away.
Having completed all objectives and collectibles in the existing campaign (except for audio logs), I’m feeling done with it.
