Because are wanting the game to get better…people have been avoiding the game becomes the cheating from PC and the desync issues and lack of content. People should be allowed to choose when they want to play without worrying about content getting blocked and it’s frustrating enough they stripped a big chunk of the game to cater to the stupid F2P model. Players shouldn’t feel punished due to 343i stripping the game in half. It’s frustrating. Plus they lied to us about the progression system. Seriously finding 343i behavior infuriating.

I’m also pretty pissed about this, it’s one of the reasons that I decided not to buy the Season 2 pass (I would purchase it today if they reversed this decision to vault free content.)
Imagine if you had been grinding all the way through the incredibly barren free season 1 battle pass, and you had made it to rank 90 (which means you have only unlocked what… 1 helmet?) and you are so close to the Mk 7 helmet, but it slips away from you.
Just getting weary of 343 making these kinds of moves.

I legit think the management is behind this and the devs are being forced to do this stuff. Fire ALL the management, replace them with people who KNOW what they are doing, and remove all the f2p garbage from Infinite.

On the contrary.
First part of the quote talk about selecting active battle passes, previous ones being around forever.
Last sentence says “as well”. A rewritten way of what you quoted would be:
“You can activate previous Battle passes, and progress in them. Old battle passes can also be bought”
Because “as well” is synonymous to “in addition” and “too”. Nothing prior to the last sentence have anything to do with Battle passes being purchased, and the last one only ensure that in addition to progressing older battle passes, you can purchase them.
Even being late to the party is, partly, missing out.
You missed the height of the battle pass when it was active.
Have they said they don’t “weaponize / utilise / rely” on FOMO?
Because i343 certainly has, along with saying they don’t want to make progress feel like chores. And this is about them, not “what about everyone else”.

I can fully agree on the point stated by the originsl poster that it’s far from desired that the content given in the free battle pass from Season 1 has been locked behind a pay wall. A much better option would be to have the content free content be available for free permanently (a least to the distant point when the servers gets shut down).

I’m 99% sure they said this would happen back in the Season 2 livestream.
Or rather, just omission.
They also stated:
“If you decided to take a Season off, or you simply didn’t have time to play, that’s fine. You can always go back and purchased any prior Battle Pass as well.“
Implying the way to participate in older BP’s is through the premium route.

i wish they could have a cod style store with an armory section where you can still see the bundles and attachments from seasons past AND still be able to purchase with waiting week after week hoping theyd return or not get vaulted and who knows if theyll ever show up again.

I was disappointed to discover this as well. In hindsight, I now see that people were mentioning that the free items would be locked. But if you were just casually following Halo news, like me, you probably just heard “never expires”, “go back to Season 1 anytime”, etc. which was a little misleading.
It also sounds like if you were to buy Season 1 at this point (without also buying Season 2), you’ll actually be getting less out of it:

I’m at a crossroads at this point. I’m kind of thinking about just ignoring the battlepasses and aesthetics altogether, and instead playing BTB until I get tired of it, and then move on to another game at that point.

It sucks but 343 don’t care about the players so they’ll keep doing stuff like this unless people make a fuss about it. It’s how Infinite as a game works.

We are still halo fans, and a lot of us are waiting for it to get better (i can only play so many matches where blatant hits dont register at all), what this means is that ALL free content is overruled by FOMO. Something they said there would be none of.
Also the progression near the beginning of the game was really really really slow, and not as fast as it is now or at the end of the season, so a lot did put a lot of time in, but just stopped because the game is in such a horrendous state.

If they keep pulling stunts like this they won’t have any fanbase left. I expected playerbase to slowly drop up after maybe a few years but this is biggest decline in Halo since Halo 4 then they have to understand they totally messed up. 343i need to make this right because most of the community doesn’t seem to trust them anymore because of the false claims before launch and on-going complaints about things like S1 removal. I’d go as far as saying they’ve been testing my patience for a while.

I havent played enough to notice i guess, but if 5 wasnt such poopoo then i would still be a daily player but i put my “maybe it will be worth it” in halo 4 and it was to no avail.
Im sad i want to play Halo like back in the day, everyday all day, grind for that good good.

Some entitled people around here, they didn’t lie. They never said the free track would be available forever, ergo no lie. Some people spent many hours grinding the battle pass to 100, I see no reason why those items should be available to all without said hours being put in. By all means complain that you think there should be other opportunities to earn the season free track items but stop throwing around toxicity. As was said earlier, you had 6 months to get through the track, if you haven’t done it now I doubt very much you would in the future. They’re not going to turn this game into Halo 3.

I get it. I don’t currently trust 343i either. It’s mostly due to what they claimed about before launch and they continue to mislead us. I’m at a point where I’m having to take a break from Halo due to how poorly 343i have managed the IP. I feel like every time I hear anything Halo related lately it just ends up being something that irritate me due a decision that 343i have made. I’m at a point where I’m not just frustrated but tired. I feel like I’m mainly just checking these forums to see if the situations improves but sadly nothing has got better since launch.

“A lot of the stuff is unlocked by playing the game and only through playing the game” -proven to be false. There’s evidence out there on one of their blogs before the end of 2021 misleading players about the amount of content too.

Im still baffled people believed any of it to be honest.
Like it was all clearly lies but peolle immediately started saying how great they were.
I was here from day one saying people need to wait and not believe marketing bs from the people who up to that point had only mislead the community in their prior marketing cycles but nope hidden xperia and others started this hype train that only enboldened them to launch an u finished game and people went out and preordered that in the wake of 2077 to boot.
It was madness to behold.
Actions speak louder than words and 343i have been very untrust worthy in the prior launches so this was almost a garuntee as sad as that is to think about.
Just hope they oust some management on the top and course correct.
Edit: @ronnie42 to be fair “a lot” isnt a unit of measurement and it doesnt mean most like many took it to mean in the lead up. While i agree with the intent the example you use isnt actualy a lie just non commital language.

Not even gonna comment on this, it really speaks for itself.
They never specified it wouldnt be, they told us it’d stick around forever, and while its still around, not disclaiming that itd have no free rewards after season is still deceptive.
So we should keep complaining even if its entitled and toxic? Make up your mind.

Sounds more like you want to disable buying tiers, not earning free pass items.
