While I doubt it will actually end given what 343i have said about their battle passes, I can assume that this means we shall get Season 2 in May 2022?

I noticed the same thing. But I agree, based on previous interviews and articles from 343i. That should just be when the Season ends, and not the Battle Pass progression.
Though this kind of gives 343i a free pass to push co-op campaign and Forge out an additional 3 months than planned, since they only loosely committed to bringing them in during Season 2 and Season 3, respectively.
We will see. I hope those features aren’t pushed back farther though.

It is a big fear of mine that coop will not release until May and Forge will not release until august or later.
