I am finding that the only thing search preferences do it make finding games take longer. So many if my games have at least one player rubber banding back and fourth constantly and they’re bullet eaters or you just can’t hit them because of it.
I don’t necessarily blame the Servers. But what I so feel is Region Lock needs to be added back. So sick of this game pairing me with players that clearly are running horrible internet. 
Really “server selection” would be best for everyone… It also would act like region lock in a sense except you get to decide when to lock it or not by picking the server you want to play on… I never did like the option 343i came up with. Even though it has helped a bit… Its far short from being good and even farther from being perfect…

It’s driving me nuts. I see way less lag on any CoD or Battlefield game at this point. That’s not a compliment either.
This is like a mild version of Gears Ultimate Edition. So inconsistent. It used to be fine though but ever since Region Lock was removed it’s been nearly unplayable unless I am willing to play with laggy players.

I agree with you totally… Im a bit shocked they couldn’t have come up with something better then what they did… I like H5 don’t get me wrong but game play should always be there key focus.

If you are being legitimate about this point of CoD having less lag than halo despite its notorious lag compensations, then you have my deepest condolences. I would hate to be in your position at that point.

Well… lag compensation is bad I give you that. But I don’t see rubber banding although both are extremely annoying. Still though, with Halos longer Time to Kill, it makes the lag all the more frustrating and difficult to deal with.
I don’t like CoD either. I haven’t liked it for a long time. But my friends want to play at times so I do and while I dislike the game, I do get far less “wtf” moments as of late. It’s still bad, but Halo has become extremely bad. Especially in Arena.
Personally I have noticed a big difference in AUS in regards to lag.
Yes there is still the teleporting and shots not registering but it’s much better. It was unplayable before they allowed focused.
I am thinking maybe they didn’t allow Region lock as an option because then the US players would all choose Region Lock. Wouldn’t this then lock out other countries and ultimately create a no option for other countries because US is locked. With the amount of players Halo has at the moment the focused option might be the best of a bad situation.
Or maybe I have no idea what I’m on about but that’s the first thing that I thought.
It’s made things much better for me. The Expanded option has allowed me to play any game type I want, something that was impossible when the region lock was up and running. I haven’t noticed any increase in lag either.

I can understand why it makes it better for you if that’s the case. I don’t mean to sound selfish but I should have the option to lock my region so I can avoid the lag as much as possible. My experience shouldn’t suffer because of poor matchmaking choices.

Im sure population has something to do with the reason we have what we have… But my whole point is by having “server selection” it gives you the player the option to play where you want to. Basically what server selection does is just limits your search area. That is of course if you pick the server closest to you. So you can always widen your search by selecting a server of your preference. This server selection just gives you total control… And doesn’t lock anyone out from playing the game… Hope that makes sense… 
The normal setting is still the best.

Australia, so yeah, things weren’t great at the start and now they’ve gotten better. I understand why you guys are annoyed though, hopefully they’ll listen to the feedback and find a way to make things work for all of us.
I honestly don’t see a difference in any of the preferences… Some games are smooth with minimal lag, and some games i’ll see multiple people rubber banding… looking like they are using a speed hack, I’m in the US on the east coast… I would think it would be easy enough to find players in my area with a similar connection.
I haven’t seen one thread saying that this multiplayer search option has helped in any situation so I wonder if it even does anything what so ever.

I’ve noticed that focussed does help in not getting as many lagging players in a game but there still are a majority of games that have people lagging. Not to mention the number of games that still have horrible hit registration. I’m not even going to go into that ranking match ups really, just to say I constantly play against champions still in FFA.

Edit: I made the mistake of trying another game and the lag was so annoying I actually quit out. I’m against quitting to the highest degree but this game can’t force me to play in a game with such a disadvantage. Please stop ruining the games I enjoy please…

Krylon Blue, Where are you from my friend. What part of the US are you in? Also I was just curious if you have done a hard reset/start to your xbox? Maybe that will help clean things up a bit for you. For some reason when the lag really starts to get bad I always reset/start my xbox… Seems to help a bit and makes it a bit more manageable…
