Now I know that I’ll most likely be repeating what everyone else has been but I’m just about fed up with teammates. I’ve lost 3 super fiesta games in a row and won one then lost two more right after. If you take a look at my game history then you would see that the only reason i’ve lost is because of incompetent teammates that are low level. They go 1 and 21 which is completely annoying amd bizarre like do they not know when to quit early on when they’re getting stomped on, or know how to camp, or in general just stop playing the gamemode and move on? After playing on expanded for sometime i found it useful to play quick matches although the one problem is the amount of lag that mostly happens and pf course horrendous teammates. Now a days i run on balance and I match relatively good people but why is that I dont get paired with skilled and higher leveled teammates? I get that it’s a social playlist and that you match people with random skill but I’m tired of having to take the lost because of someone or most of the team that are below lvl 50 that just 1 and 21 and then decides that its too much and quits towards the end of the game where it doesnt matter because he/she just doesnt have a brain. 343 please if possible try and fix the search preferences to where you have the chance to match with decent teammates in social.
You always have a chance to match up with good teammates. There’s nothing that needs to be fixed. But there is a way for you to make sure you have decent teammates every time so you don’t have to take a chance on the system.

Yeah, sometimes over the course of 4,000 games, you get some unlucky ones in a row. That’s just how probability works.
You have a 1.4 K/D with high Diamond rank.
Yeah, most players are not going to be as good as you.
I would say that your problem is that you’re playing social but I have the same problem in ranked, like I’ve placed onyx in 3 different playlists before but can’t get out of gold in team arena because my teams are consistently garbage, I’ll go 25/5 in slayer and my team still loses and I lose rank over it which is just ridiculous.
Not only that in my slayer placement matches I fight exclusively onyx players, perform fairly well (not going negative once with at least 10 kills) and place mid-diamond but the moment I’m finished placing I only fight diamonds and my team does terrible match after match and I get deranked. Blegh first world problems I suppose but having my rank determined by my teammates’ ineptitude makes playing ranked unbearable.

Goes back to the huge problem of your rank in arena purely based on your win loss ratio at least in slayer one exceptional player can turn a game but in objective it’s just too much while I’m not as high ranked as you this problem happens severely down in gold plat aswell go up a rank and down two regardless of how your playing

What about those of us whose friends have moved on to other games? Or our Spartan companies don’t play at same time as I do? Are we just supposed to get screwed by a flawed matching system? This game constantly just craps on those of us who play alone.
It looks to me like you were absent on the day they taught bell curve distribution, so let me give you the short version: You are too good at this game for there to be enough similarly-skilled players available to you every time you want to play a match. It’s that simple. Anybody as high up the rank ladder as you doesn’t have a lot of peers, and that means that there will be wider skill mismatches for you than for most players, and that, when those mismatches occur, they will almost always involve players of lower skill than you. Because there really just aren’t that many players of higher skill.
So I guess I can understand your frustration, but at the same time this is kinda like a rich white guy complaining about how hard it is being a rich white guy. Historically speaking, many Halo players have had the same crappy multiplayer experience without the cool Onyx rank to show for it.

Haha, good one. More often than not, the teams are not that equal in social. They aren’t even in the same universe when you match full parties.

A “barely Onyx” player from another playlist is generally right around High Gold/Low-Mid Platinum in HCS.
Not as a failure of the ranking system, but because the playlist is just legitimately that much more competitive.
And the guy you quoted has his 3 Onyx in the 3 easiest playlists so it’s not surprising in the least. Old FFA, you could just grind to Onyx without actually winning, Breakout is just parties of drunk people or little kids, and nobody has ever counted SWAT as a real 50 or Onyx & it never should have been ranked.

Normally I’d agree, but a lot of times (in BTB) you’ll go on losing streaks with just winning 1 game and then losing 4 or 5+ games in a row. It would be much better if the wins/losses were more mixed together. Also, the party matching is really bad. The game doesn’t even try to make it somewhat even in skill when facing parties.

I didn’t say “that’s why you can’t rank higher,” I said that Onyx-to-Gold/Platinum is an accurate translation to the HCS playlist.
I didn’t insult your playlists, I stated that they were the 3 easiest playlists at the time you ranked in them.
that isn’t an insult, that’s literally just a fact.
I’m not exactly sure what you expect me to “argue against.”
I wasn’t even responding to you, I was responding to the guy who was blaming Win/Loss for the supposed “rank discrepency” when the ranks in fact follow the skill trend of anyone else at that level.
You have a social playlist with newer and younger people wanting to run around trying all the shiny rare weapons. I’d say get a team or play a different playlist if you want all competitive.
