Im sure there are people in this forum that play alot of Custom Games. I thought that a good idea for 343 would be to design Matchmaking for Custom Games.
Lets say you want to play Infection in Custom Games and none of your friends are playing, you simply just type the game type you want play and it finds lobbys. You then get to choose out of a list of, lets say 25 options/games.
In Addition there should still be a Host and the host should still have the ability to kick. There should also be an option on whether you want to close lobbys and/or make them private.
Does anyone else think this is a good idea? And does anyone have any additonal ideas?
If you agree I would appreicate a Thanks or a reply.
No it’s a good idea mate, it could promote custom maps and game types as well
I’ve seen this idea somewhere before and thought it would be a very good addition for anyone to use to simply find the custom game of their choosing. Whether that custom be Grifball, something MLG related, or random things like Halo on Halo. It’d be awesome to see this added to H4.
This is one of the best ideas floating around the forums.
Wow, yeah.
Perhaps you can simply go to the custom games menu, then when creating a custom game lobby, choose whether anyone can join. Create a name, with gametypes, and maybe description for players can have more fun on good maps.
If yes, then random players can just search.
It would be a pretty awesome idea. If your creating a custom lobby you should have an option to be open to friends or open to all. It would keep the population of custom games.
I would really appreciate if this topic could spread around more.
I have always wanted to go back to server browser system in consoles. Adds a lot more fun since all the public custom matches would most likely have a lot of variations (Implying variation of Slayer can be found by just typing Slayer instead of being forced to list 100% accurately). Only problem would be, that there will be people, who kick better players when they are hosting matches (Even in non-serious gametypes). But I still support this idea a lot!
^^^ Maybe only certified people can have the ability to kick and if those people abuse their powers, they can be reported.
Custom game match making… No
Better idea, Customs Browser, a list of matches that are custom games, let people filter out people who are playing maps they don’t want.
> ^^^ Maybe only certified people can have the ability to kick and if those people abuse their powers, they can be reported.
Good idea…But, doesn’t that kind of lead the reporting system to be abused??

Thanks for replying, I guess the report button may be abused. I think that the hosts must be 343 employees and/or Custom Game moderators (which I just made up). I don’t think these people will abuse their powers, So I change my idea from before. Remove the report button.
Great idea, but how about this: 343 employers actively go out and select the best custom games/custom maps and puts them all in a playlist called “Spotlight”. Reporting will not be an issue because these are all handpicked by 343. This allows people who create great custom game types/maps to get recognition and for people to get exposure to a greater variety of gametypes.
Those who want to look for a SPECIFIC gametype can still do that through some sort of “Custom Games” MM playlist.
^^ (I avoid quoting because its not needed.) Good idea. Appreciate the reply. But do you think that host abilities is needed? like kicking?
This sounds so epic! A brilliant idea straight from the community. They need to add in this, their is no reason why not to? It’ll be a excellent feature to the game, especially for its later years where the game will soon to become dormant,
Also,
Evil clans could make games and lure their foes into it >:)
<(^^)> Anyways yeh, I support this. This does look a brilliant idea
I love this idea, I’m always on the lookout for custom games and none of my friends ever play them…
^ thanks for the positive feedback. I really hope 343 considers this at the least.
I think it could go both ways. A lot of people like playing customs with only friends. There would have to be an option to hide from public matching. But, the times that the host forgets to turn on that option, you’d have random players joining and leaving your game which could make for an experience that is not enjoyable.
