"Search and Destroy" in Halo?

If you’re gonna say “Stupid noobtube campers in cod”, or something biased, just don’t talk. It’s about the game type, not the game.

First of all, let me just explain SnD, it’s an intense no respawn game with rounds where one team has to plant the bomb and the other team defends. If one team all dies, they lose A round. If the single bomb is detonated or defused, a round is won/lost. No respawn makes it even better, as teams need mics to do well to team’s hoot, etc. and if you die, you can’t be heard in the mic. If there’s a game mode in cod that reflects teamwork, this does it well. And one more thing…it grants tons ofpoints. A kill is worth 10x it’s usual amount. Planting or defusing gives you the points of 20 kills.

This game encourages teamwork and is reall…really intense. It’s one of the things I want from cod, provided there aren’t snipers on the map for “qwiksc0perzzzzz”.

Yes, adjustments must be made so the game is fairer and more intense, perhaps no radar or low shields, but overall this is a great game mode from cod which could do well, I believe, in Halo, some form or another. Thoughts?

aka Default CS.

The reason this gametype works in CS, and in CoD, is because of the fast killtimes, and stealth elements on most maps, which are often urban themed. It wouldn’t work in Halo in any way, simply because the maps are designed for arena fighting, not tactical, fast movement and positioning.

Also, SnD does not encourage teamwork. At all. It encourages the lone wolf playstlye so much.

I could see it in a hardcore playlist.

I actually would like something like this in Halo 4.

> I could see it in a hardcore playlist.

Lol, SWAT Search and Destroy. O.O

We had something like that in the very beginning of halo3 i want to say it was called team elimination but i could be mistaken. Regardless it was a lot of fun but the population was extremely low and eventually it was cut from the hopper. I’d love to see it revived but there absolutely cannot be radars or health regeneration. Rounds should be no more than four minutes and you either eliminate the enemy team or plant the bomb. The bomb would have a 30 second timer and 10 second defuse. This would be an excellent exercise for new and seasoned teams to practice team rushes. First to four rounds wins or best out of seven. Now that we can pass the oddball i can see this being very popular with the right maps.

As I said, gameplay would need to be tweaked abit, but nothing we can’t do in customs already.

And now in Halo, we have Universal sprint and Forge. I’m sure that gametypes like that can be put into Reach. Oh, and also, it does encourage teamwork. Searching it alone and playing against a team with mics who are working together (And not chatting about things like the best fast food restaurant) will mean you die.

Teams communicating =/= teamwork. In SnD, there is very little team coordination necessary. 1 guy can easily take out an Ace or Clutch against a communicating team. Certainly, having friends to talk to does help, but it’s not a major factor, whereas gun skill, and understanding map positioning, are the important parts to winning in SnD.

???

Alright. Lets say there’s a pro halo player assaulting the enemy team. The enemy team has teamwork. 1 guy engages the pro, dies, but calls him out before that. The other few players, who, lets assume have a bit of skill, would be looking over to where their teammate died while in cover. That pro player walks forward, he dies immediately.

I think this would be fun to see. As in like a different variant game mode from assault.

That could work, or Snipers.

Cod fan boys need to stop posting things like this. Please lock this thread.

Unless the maps were radically redesigned it wouldn’t work… and then it wouldn’t look like Halo if it lost it’s open Arena aesthetic.

That was surprisingly biased. I hope you realize that Waypoint forums think that biased people are worse than people who play cod.

(I hope you realize that many of 343 plays cod too.)

Jl1223 X, I AGREE with ur first post

If possible 2 make in halo 4 i will make it similar to cod snd

Sounds to me more like Counterstrike and Killzone than CoD, besides if you’ve played CoD’s multi-player you should know Halo is a LONG way away from that kinda play.

I have played cod. But the thing is I don’t care if 343 plays cod. I care about halo the real halo why would someone who plays halo and loves halo and is on a halo forum suggest to put something from cod into halo. Really use your head please. That’s like some on a cod forum suggesting to promethium weapons in black ops 2. Let cod be cod and halo be halo. Yes games are evolving I don’t mind small aspects like sprint or specifications but not a core gameplay. If you want to play search and destroy go on cod.

So true…

I face palmed so hard when I read OP.

I think there was a S&D type gametype in Halo 2.

EDIT:

“Elimination is a free-for-all slayer type. In order to win the match, you must be the last player alive. This game goes to the first to three. You only have one life; upon death you must sit out for the rest of the round and watch the other players fight it out to determine the victor.”

Oh nvm, but its fairly close lol.
