It would be cool if sea vehicles and the ability to swim (not drowning when you step into 6 inchs of water) were added in halo infinite.
While I am all for new stuff and experiences, I’m not sure how I feel about swimming. If they made it similar to regular movement I don’t think it would have any real impact. On the other hand if they did something different they probably wouldn’t be able to work it into multiplayer in a cohesive way so it would feel like wasted resources. Here’s hoping whatever new systems they introduce really wow us!
I’m not really feeling them adding an ability to swim, but being able to add water volumes in Forge that you can submerge yourself in without dying would be great.
I’ve played quite a few Halo Custom Edition maps that added in speedboats with turrets, basically a “Boathog,” and had a blast with them. I’m definitely in favor of adding vehicles in that can add the element of hydro combat.
Could be cool, I’d like to see it tried out
Here is an idea, Clamber is only available under/coming out of water.
Also a swim might not be effective but maybe a double jump instead.
Well going back to my ideas of playable Elites/Brutes/ODST/Combat Forms?Knights there are some who can swim and some who can’t.
Swimmers (swims across water crouch is dive and jump is swim) ODST, (Unarmored) Brutes, shouold be able to swim.
Sinkers (walks at a slower pace along the bottom, can make a double jump in water and clamber out of it) Spartans, (Power Armored) Brutes, Knights
Uncategorized (I can’t tell if they sink or swim right now)I am not sure about Elites, on one hand they are the equivalent of a Spartan but on the other hand they are also Squid like humanoids possible swimmer. Also Combat forms is another question. We have seen them walk underwater possible sinker but what is making them so dense that they are not buoyant, especially the carrier forms?
swim? a spartan weighs like 2,000 pounds or something with the suit. in halo ce you could walk along the ocean floor zombie style which was kind of cool.
I’d be down to not drown in every bit of water. Kind of like the cartographer mission in halo ce where you can just drive into the ocean. But Idk about swimming. That would probably throw off the gameplay a bit.
A water based driving mission would be pretty cool. Reach had a flying space mission. I like it.
Water vehicles would be nice, and the only way I could reasonably see “swimming” in halo is if you have a piece of equipment to facilitate it. There would be no way for a fully armored spartan to swim without some kind of suit or piece of equipment assisting.
It would be copying off of the call of duty games where you can swim already (Advanced Warfare campaign, Black Ops 4, and that’s it to the best of my knowledge). And it wouldn’t be true to halo games, or the lore. The armor is to heavy to allow a Spartan to swim. They would sink faster than Excalibur from Warframe can cut through opponent’s with his exalted blade. To go along with the plagiarism, when infinite warfare came out, there where a few ideas that originally came from halo. We don’t need to get back at them by copying swimming.

Maybe not swimming. I don’t think id seen a spartan swim before. But sea vehicles yes. Maybe an underwater mission.
Come to think of it, have we seen anything to do with water on Halo before? I don’t think we even seen a ship on water before.

I think on Longshore in H3 they had a sea carrier which had some of those UNSC surveillance recon drones. But yeah nothing more than background props in front of a sky box to give the out of bounds some depth.
I don’t see how a swimming mechanic is relevant to Halo’s gameplay in any way. Besides, underwater missions in games are universally hated by everyone.

Metroid Prime had some bomb underwater levels. Depends on how it is done, often times underwarter uses some mechanics to simplify aspects of being underwarter but they often make it harder, take an air/oxygen mechanic for example. We weren’t made to stay underwater so it is put in there as a way to keep us from staying indefinitely. However it is also a way to force us to tighten our swim pathing. Heck the the Original Underwater level Super Mario Bros World 1-3, on one side you had infinite jump which made falling down a cliff impossible (as long as your fingers don’t get tired from pressing jump button all the time), but they also compensated this with enemies that were immune to your standard jump attack which means you needed a fire-flower or star to attack them, otherwise they were invulnerable as they could damage you. The net result was an increase in difficulty for the level.
i agree with this it would definitely be a interesting experience and feature in halo infinite in the halo infinite trailer we can see a underwater vehicle so its likely going to be added you never know

Halo is a series that takes place in the stars, not the ocean depths.
I honestly thinks its about time that a little over 500 years more advanced highly technological super soldiers learned to swim lmao. I get, the suits are heavy as hell and would sink like a rock, but maybe add a special armor ability allowing for underwater access like a little personal bubble sheild. Or maybe like a new old school diver suit in the style of spartan armor. Somewhere out in the galaxy, theres gotta be spartan’s working underwater right? and sea vehicles could be awesome too. Some Sea-floor vehicles like walkers, crawlers, and maybe diggers, and some actual swimming vehicles like a small one person orb like exploration vehicle with mini guns, call it the Blowfish maybe. or a narrow and speedy underwater cruiser with an electrical pulse defense system, call it the Eel. Either way, we shouldn’t focus too much on it as cool as it would be. maybe some stuff like that in the multiplayer maps, like an all underwater map where you gotta fight your friends underwater using the stuff at hand. Make it a multiplayer thing more than a Campaign thing i think.
Idk how I feel about swimming but I would love some sea vehicles for BTB
Think of conquest mode on BF4 in the Naval Strike DLC.

Although their suits are heavy I am sure they can use their thrusters (the ones they use to spartan charge) to navigate the underwater terrain.
I could definitely see a vehicle the could be utilized above and below water being pretty useful (kind of like a submarine, but futuristic and Halo like), although with that there are some things that come with being able to go under water/float. For instance, like many of the people on this forum are explaining, there is no real way for Spartans to go in to water without sinking due to their extreme mass and density, making ‘swimming’ an unobtainable venture. So their has to be some sort of counter measure to the vehicles maybe like limited ranged weaponry or making it just a transport vehicle. This could take storytelling and mapmaking to a whole new level. I’ve always thought about how cool it would be to get across the vast oceans on Forge World in Reach, and how I wish I could have submerged areas in my bases. Although, a great idea too to combat this problem would be to have an option to make water either harmless, time death or instant death when spawning it in to forge if we could have that option. All of these would be a great addition to Halo Infinite, and if not Infinite because of how far it is in development for right now, then maybe in a future game.
