Scratching that Invasion itch

Looks like they built it up from invasion, greatly improved great ideas.I’m glad they created this mode and improved it so well with the vehicles and the way you get them, the turrets and capture points. “No no no man they meant playing as a new species” well there’s that to,you can now play as the flood for those who missed it,but yeah they also said that longbow was great for their new game type. What do you think of dominion?,it looks like a great edition to Halo imo and has great potential.

It looks very promising, but as an avid fan of invasion I cannot stress this enough… WE NEED MOAR MAPS!!!

> It looks very promising, but as an avid fan of invasion I cannot stress this enough… WE NEED MOAR MAPS!!!

And proper balancing. I loved Boneyard for it being a good map, I hate it for the fact that elites can pick up human power weapons and that humans could take elite vehicles. Right out of their spawns.

It’s like Conquest from Battlefield and the “Star Wars: Battlefront gametype”. With bases and shield doors and team specific vehicles and… woo!

Dominion doesn’t really “scratch the itch” for me.

I mean, it looks like one of the most fun gametypes I’ve seen in a Halo game yet, but still.

I’ll deal if it’s supposed to be the replacement, though. Hope it’s at least very customizable.

Im happy because these maps wont be tailored to invasion. Boneyard and spire had a lot of wasteful areas in BTB because they were specifically designed for invasion.

Hopefully they focused more on BTB than Dominion, though even if they did it doesnt seem like it would change much.

I think Dominion will be better. I feel as if invasion was not executed as well as it could have been.

Same to me this looks more like territories except you get goodies when you capture the objective. I guess they wanted to make territories more fun for us. Plus I guess people on the forums aren’t getting what ‘scratch that itch’ is. It’s referring to Elites and so far we heard nothing on them except being in Campaign and War Games. Who ever said that at 343 in that magazine, we have to know what you meant by that. We don’t have that much time to figure out what ‘scratch that itch’ is giving us a hint on. All we can do is keep guessing.

Considering that a good chunk of 343 are former Pandemic devs, I wouldn’t doubt if this is where they got the idea from. Dominion really does look like fun, what with the bases trying to kill you and all. Now if we could just get rid of those killcams…

They never specifically said it was about elites, you guys assumed it was,it was more about invasion then anything.

Invasion was incredible fun… when you were a Spartan.

lol!

Elites stood little chance, so people just quit when they realized they’d start of as one. It was so unbalanced both in spawn location and covenant weapon design. Dominion for me looks like it can quite happily replace Reach’s Invasion mode. Cannot wait to play it!

I agree. I have been playing Invasion the past hour or so and it is really getting on my nerves. I never really played it a ton before, but it does seem unbalanced. The map design for it is kinda wonky too, especially the forge world ones.

I need to see more so I know what I get to work with in Forge.

there’s a few videos up on youtube of it.

I’m referring to more of the properties of each capture point, how many I can spawn in, etc.

I’m interested in making a whole new gametype from this and I want to see all of this stuff.

Oh,well were about a month and 2 weeks from launch.

I think it’s a great compromise myself. We need to keep in mind that Invasion didnt play like most other gametypes. It was tier-based and required larger, more narrow maps. Reach only had Spire, Boneyard and Breakpoint as acceptable maps (before forge world took over the gametype.)

This concept for Dominion could be played on just about any medium-large sized maps. And with full-on customizations and no Elites, this mode cold very well be more balanced than Invasion.

And this is coming from a avid Invasion gamer.

It actually reminded me of how Section 8’s conquest works.
