The game is hitting record levels of player desertion. The YouTube community that were focused on Infinite or halo in general are creating polls and asking their audience what other games/ content they should start to cover.
The community manager has been MIA for 2 weeks now with no blog post or behind the scenes info on what’s being doin at 343i in regards to outstanding issues. Desync, broken ranked, regional search options, cheating etc all looms as large as it did week one.
However in the March update Staten said they have over 100+ new cosmetic items ready to go for the season 2 battle pass.
At this rate, the game is hardly a live service. Most people have paid $60 for the campaign, most people have spent an additional $25 on the season 1 battle pass. From what I’ve seen in the various games I have managed to land in this week you have sold a heap of the dual swords cosmetic item from the store. Not to mention the bunny ears, stances and shaders of peoples favourite comp teams.
Enough is enough. If the game is suffering this badly and you are unable to resolve any of the known issues within this current 6 month period then I suggest you add those 100+ items into the game immediately. Provide various avenues to earn them - for free. Via a challenge or unlock system and give back to the community that remains. Do not hold out any longer. If for whatever reason you can’t fix issues or update the game as any live service does. Then cut the loses, change the business model and release the items you already have ready to sell us for free as a gesture of good faith.
If nothing changes within the next month. If you expect to sell season 2 on only two new maps and no changes to current issues, I predict after the initial surge of returning players see it’s more of the same- the population is outright doomed.
Please release all Season 2 content immediately. That which was ready at the start of March, while you have meetings, hire staff and make decisions on what to do next. Maintain the community you have left, Do this as a gesture of good will toward the player base, and buy yourself time to come up with a better model of supporting your product. Or this 10 year plan, may not make its first anniversary….
Why the heck would they do that?
Releasing it now isn’t going to bring any more players back than it would if they release it in May.
Releasing it in May gives them more time to actually get their -Yoink!- together and fix the game
Yeah, about all that. 343 higher-ups are too stubborn, and because of that if they don’t release a good amount of content they will lose a lot more players.
Infinite is hurting bad in just about every aspect of it, and without any real incentive to keep players playing I can’t see myself even bothering to log in until they significantly improve this game.
Do you honestly believe they will move mountains and address and repair every aspect of the game within the next 30 days given their track record?
They would do it, to give the player base something to do. To bring the population back. To change the narrative away from its current image right now. Which has become quite negative due to their neglect.
Because they have hardly any staff left. With the majority of their crew leaving shortly after launch.
They seem to have focused on new cosmetic items over anything else.
Why would anyone be opposed to this notion.
All we get is new cosmetic items with season 2? It does not matter when these items become available. Either way they don’t seem to be able to address issues or even maintain the population with the current format.
I think this is a great idea and a show of good faith towards the dwindling player base.
How can anyone oppose this?
Again, all they have ready for season 2 is cosmetic items.
Ya I dont agree releasing season 2 a month early will do any good if anything itll have 343 trying their best scrambling to make more content as fast as they can.
We have all waited this long its just one more month and itll give them more time to figure out what they want to do.
They have 2 maps, 4 new games modes (at least) along with anything else that they haven’t revealed yet, lol
granted, it isn’t a lot and is the bare minimum but it is more than “just cosmetics”
In the March blog post. Joseph Staten said outright that there was over 100+ cosmetic items ready to go For season 2. Key words there.
They then showed us concept art for a BtB and Arena map. But not completed,
They also mentioned a king of the hill game
Mode and a last Spartan standing FFA game
Mode. Both of which are not ready yet
(At the time of the articles release)
It this point, it seems like they only way they’ll be get in any reasonable amount of content into Halo Infinite is to replicate the roadmap and production pace of Halo 5: Guardians. I don’t give a crap about their complaining about severe burnouts and “unsustainability.” It’s their fault for letting themselves be in that trap and being poor planners.
I just don’t seem them as being capable of long term planning, not while Bonnie Ross and Frank O’Connor still control 343. MS needs to give them the boot, for gods sake have Joseph Staten become the new head of 343. He would know more about time management than anyone, given his experience with Halo 2 and the brutal crunch they had to go through with getting that game out, and making it loved by the fans.
Not that I disagree with this, but why would they do this? They seem to be unable to make choices that benefit the community and aren’t merely cash grabs.
Buying the season 1 BP, they sure nit gonna see a dime for season 2. Finished the stuff in december, can’t used to cool stuff on my favorite core, still only got 10 coatings… nah, id rather burn the 10 bucks.
