Personally, I can understand why people want Armor Abilities gone. That said, I don’t think they have to be cleansed from Halo. Sure in their current incarnation they are flawed, but don’t dump the baby out with the bathwater. In Halo 4, why not make them map picks ups like I’ve seen a lot of people suggest happen in Reach? That way you don’t have to worry about a whole team of Jetpackers or what have you. Make it a reward for smart players, make AAs worth something. Yet make them a risk. Personally, I’d have the Plasma Pistol or whatever it’s equivalent for Halo 4 is be able to disable any Armor Ability. Got Armor Lock? BAM! EMPed and now you have no way to save your -Yoink-. Better player wins.
Frankly, I think this community is too focused on just cutting tings instead of evaluating things carefully and making fixes. Doesn’t have to be that way.
> Cobra, you know my answer to this Armor Abilities.
Yes, yes I do. But try to open your mind just this once. Would the game die if a single jetpack is available and is easily countered with a single charged plasma pistol shot? I doubt it.
Why burn them though? They aren’t that bad of a concept and if tweaked and fixed, could shine. If done right, they could be as natural as Active Camo and Overshield.
I don’t get why people have an idea that they’re coming back. Each Halo game had a different mechanic like this, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo 4 had something new. I also would like to add a majority of people dislike them, so bringing them back over other things is a silly idea.

A Plasma Pistol overcharge disabling Equipment/AAs would be interesting.
What people don’t realize is what Halo: Reach would have been like without loadouts. I feel that most of the complaining is because of the fact that AAs are loadouts in matchmaking and not pick-up like H3 equipment.
If you have AAs pick-up, just like the equipment from Halo 3, there wouldn’t have been much complaining from the H3fanboys.
I love AAs and hope they stay. Now I think they need improving. Sprint shouldn’t be an “ability.” It should be in-game by default. I find it absurd that I have to go pick up a metal box in order to run. I can understand it for other abilities but not that.
Now I honestly could do away with Hologram and Armor Lock. I’m not a big fan of them and they are pointless at times.
BTW. Arbiter’s active camo essentially is the bases for Reach AAs.

This is just a “What if…” they come back. And frankly, the community may have a negative opinion towards them, but I think things can be fixed. I mean, would the game be completely ruined if you could pick up a jetpack or sprint? Make them a reward like any other power weapon.

For now, I’ll open my mind for this.
In my honest opinion, I don’t think that Armor Abilities are coming back in Halo 4 since there will be new stuff to be added in Halo 4. Also, if Armor Abilities were to come back, they’d be set as equipment and be one-time usage only. Which it would be perfect balance for the gameplay.
Also, there’s most of Halo community (as far I know) potentially disliked the armor abilities in Reach.
And, Halo2/3 style multiplayer with new innovations would save the Halo franchise from being dying after Reach.

Yes they are they ruined Halo and either split the community in half or made players quit Halo and move on to another game. Please dont mention the word AAs or Bloom anymore.

Sprint is the only thing I’m remotely okay with for having as a starter. Jetpack would be fine for a limited pickup that gets destroyed after death.

No matter what armor abilities are overpowered because you can keep them the entire match. Thats why pick ups that last a certain amount of time work the best.
> That said, I don’t think they have to be cleansed from Halo. Sure in their current incarnation they are flawed, but don’t dump the baby out with the bathwater.
They’re hopelessly flawed in every last conceivable carnation. We shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater, we should dump out the bathwater and then beat the baby with the empty tub.
I’d accept them if they were strictly custom game options, but that’s not how developers operate. If they’re gonna put in a feature in a game, they want it to play a noticeable part in multiplayer matchmaking. In the case of armor abilities it will only -Yoink- things up.

Sorry, I can’t abide by that request because I don’t disregard my pinions because someone disagrees with it. You are well within your right to disagree with me, I’ll defend that any day of the week. I have to say, however, that the claim they ruined Halo has been a common one. People said the insane amount of autoaim and bullet magnetism ruined Halo in Halo 2. People said Equipment, melee and a wide assortment of issues ruined Halo in Halo 3. Now Armor Abilities are added to the list. Halo’s still alive.

Well sure Halo is still alive for now but thanks to AAs and Bloom the population went down by alot. Reach is now #6 most playable game on XbL right in front of MW2. H3 held #1-3 most played game on XbL for the straight 3 years that it was out. Adding AAs in H4 is just asking to kill the franchise. If people hear the word “Armor Abilities” in H4 they will cry of sadness knowing that Halo 4 is going in the wrong direction and not buy the game. AAs are the death of Halo in everyway whether its ruining gameplay or scaring players away from the game. So I say burn AAs and Bloom in fire and scrap them completely.

The game is still ruined if they are made as pick ups. Just play mlg the pit on reach the evade is so over powered and if it was any other AA it would face the same problem because you can use them the whole time your alive unlike pick ups in halo 3. NO AAs and NO bloom in Halo 4 please.

Not quite, Halo Reach proved that AA was utter failure. At start, it did very well but gradually, its population went down because of AA breaking the gameplay.
