Lately I’ve been wondering… for both the purposes of variations on warzone and for forge purposes… what is the purpose of the scout hog? A normal warthog obviously has the added firepower and can move another person from A to B. A scout mongoose has the same amount of firepower as a scout hog (whatever the passenger happens to have on them) but presents a considerably smaller target.
Am I missing something about where the scout hog comes into play? I suppose it could be a boon when making custom vehicles in forge but… other than that…
splattering is easier and extra armor. The only thing the mongoose has going for it is the passenger’s shooting area isn’t restricted to extent of the scout hog. I’m not sure which base body is faster but the scout hog has a rally version that makes it faster and lighter.
A scout hog offers much, much, more protection for both the driver and passenger than a mongoose. They’re also useful for splattering, both Spartans and bosses.
Scouting, more protection, splattering, and I believe its a level 2 req so one of the first vehicles you get. It’s useful(the way I’ve been using it)for driving over to the enemy base after we have just captured ours and capturing theirs while they are occupied capturing the other base. It is great for running bosses over too!

Does anyone use it for its actual purpose of scouting in a Warzone game? I’ve used it to troll, get to a base faster or splatter AI, but I’ve never used it to check out what the enemy was doing and then reported it back to my team.

Scout Warthogs are very useful in Round One of Heroic Warzone Firefight if you do not have to kill Hunters and it is better to keep them from REQ Packs than selling them for 50 RP. You will get more bang for your RP out of them this way. Just make sure to watch out for other teammates should you decide to utilize them this way. They’re cheap as a Level 1 REQ, they’re easy to get from REQ Packs (I often get them from Daily REQ Packs), and they can take a bit of a beating in round one, save Hunter Fuel Rod Cannon Shots and the rare Soldier Splinter Grenade (They Seldomly throw them in round one, but it does happen on occasion).
ONI Scout Warthogs in particular are a blessing with additional armor and can really take a beating, as long as you keep driving. I tested this on Round One of Warzone Firefight on Urban with the goal of killing promethians by staying stationary in one instance to stress test it’s durability . You will die from no shields before the ONI Scout Hog blows up in round one.
