So I was looking at the new helmets shown in the Red vs Blue videos and they seem to be similar to the “scout” variant in Halo 3 and Reach. Also the “Rogue” variant in Halo 3. This makes me wonder if older helmets will be appearing in Halo 4. Also, I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to bring back the older helmets because of the whole, Bungie and 343i split thing. All that legal mumbo jumbo. Any answers? Anyone agree on the helmets?
Pretty much everything in the games except the Bungie references (such as the Marathon logo and Seventh Column emblem) is Halo material, so 343 can use it as much as they like.

I’m guessing we can unlock most (if not all) of Chief’s armour, so I don’t see what the problem is.

You can’t play as the Spartan-IIs because almost all of them are dead.
As for Elites, the setting for Infinity is the reason.
I always regretted never rocking the scout helmet.
Oh well.
And in my head, I always pretend MY Spartan is the same from the last game. I’ve kinda grown too attached to just kill him off. He can be either a SII or SIII OR SIV. I don’t care; the Spartans armor might change, but never the Spartan! Live to Win!!!
I think the default Spartan-IV look is pretty bad, the helmet looks clunky and uninteresting. But if thats the default look then we’ll just change our look and buy new helmets and perms, so I dont think its too much of a big deal.
Shame that the default helmet is the first thing to go, I can’t ever imagine choosing that helmet ever again whereas I have always liked the default Mk VI and Mk V from previous games.

To my knowledge Bungie does not own any rights to halo, it is all Microsoft.
And whatever the helmet looks like in Halo 4, I think it is really quite ugly. It kind of reminds me of EOD, which was a hideous helmet in my opinion. I still haven’t unlocked

Yeah I thought EOD too… but I honestly think EOD looks better than the new S-IV helmet. Hopefully its either a placeholder or it just won’t be the default helmet for S-IVs, I can’t believe that 343i thought that it was good design.

I never cared about the look much but these spartans 4’s look stupid. the body armor is fine but the helmet looks just so dumb
My post got messed up. I meant to say that the regular mark 6 helmet is my favorite in Reach, but I still haven’t unlocked it despite it being the default one in the previous games.
And yes I really hope that helmet gets changed or is not default. The default helmet should not be flashy, it should be something that everyone likes or at least doesn’t mind. I hope I don’t have to see that thing every time I play a game with guests in it. And from what I have seen most people are not to fond of that helmet.
Apparently enough people complained about the Master Chief helmet model in the Anniversary E3 video that it got changed, hopefully we can do that here.
When I see the Spartan-IV helmet I don’t think “Spartan”, I think “Generic scifi helmet”. The default Spartan-IV helmet should look identifiably Spartan, and I don’t think this new helmet does that.
Personally I Love the new look and It doesn’t look too different to spartan II’s anyway, and I love the scout helmet even if the majority of people don’t, strangely I didn’t like it in Halo 3 even though it hasn’t changed much at all between the two games. I like mosty how when you activate things now, you actually see your hand press a button, and how you can change so much more of your armour now.
Also I personally love the raider armour (apart from the helmet) probably my favourite armour set with the scout, recon or eva helmets. <3
