I honestly believe that the Scorpion really needs a nerf. It is an insta kill, almost hit scan monster with a large blast radius, that can eat a Spartan Laser shot when at full health.
It’s a futuristic super tank…
But then it wouldn’t beat everything…
It’s a -Yoink!- tank! It does exactly what it’s suppose to. Stop saying vehicles need to be debuffed, they’re useless in Reach now because of people complaining, then even took the scorpion out all together, please for the love of god keep the tank a tank.
In campaign, no. It’s supposed to feel like a portable super weapon capable of mass destruction.
In multiplayer, absolutely. It’s extremely overpowered in Reach, which is why it was removed from most of matchmaking (Hemorrhage for example). Nearly everything is destroyed by it in 1 shot, it’s very mobile for a tank (moves fast enough to splatter people), and the cannon reload time is much too fast for balance’s sake.
Hopefully it will actually be in Halo 4 MP, but on a toned down level so that it’s balanced with everything else. Don’t get me wrong, it SHOULD be powerful and among the strongest in the sandbox. But it shouldn’t be as powerful as in Reach.
> It’s a futuristic super tank…
Balance > Realism
> I honestly believe that the Scorpion really needs a nerf. It is an insta kill, almost hit scan monster with a large blast radius, that can eat a Spartan Laser shot when at full health.
Really? I think it’s fine, if anything it needs to be invisible, and a little faster.
I agree. In reach, it’s health was weak, but it was still very powerful. Maybe a good covenant or forerunner counter vehicle would be good. Let’s face it, the wraith sucks against a tank.
Personally I really think they already nerfed the tank ever since h3 came out, they took away the driver’s ability to shoot the machine gun. only way to nerf them is make their reload time lil bit longer perhaps??
I don’t see why we should nerf it, as the Scorpion Tank shouldn’t be in MP-MM in the first place. It’s just not suitable for anything.
Even if they give the cannon a 3 sec reload time, completely removes it’s splash-damage, and lowers it’s damage versus other vehicles drastically, it’s still a “Gauss Warthog” with a slow reload and near-impenetrable armor that will dominate any map. And yes, as fun as it is driving it, the Gauss 'Hog is also ridiculously OP.
To make the ST suitable for online play they would have to completely change it’s basic features, not just tweak them up and down. They might as well just keep it in the Campaign and invent a new UNSC tank that’s, you know… balanced. Unless they do this I say we should keep the Wraith, and the Rocket 'Hog if you absolutely need to use a UNSC “tank”.
p.s. Before some monkey starts shouting “It’s a tank, man!” to me I’d like to state that I don’t mean that it’s OP as in it versus infantry. It totally is, of course, but that’s not the main problem. The main problem here is that it’s so OP versus other vehicles. The guy who has the ST is ruining vehicle combat more than H:R’s health system and AL put together could ever do.
Think about it like this, a decent Ghost-pilot or 'Hog-team can with skill and care take down a Wraith easily. A Banshee-pilot have the upper hand, so then the burden of skill is on the Wraith, but it balances out as the 'Hog is extremely proficient at taking out Banshees. But for a 'Hog or a Ghost to take out a Scorpion Tank, it requires extreme skill and luck from their side, and also demands that the ST-pilot is jerking it at the same time, and this barely changes in an ST vs Banshee scenario. The Wraith, it’s counterpart only has a chance on maps with extreme distances and large hills, and even then we’re applying same “gamer-conditions” as previously stated.

The Wraith serves its purpose as a tank, and it isn’t OP.
I mean yeah they could keep the tank the same way if you want. But to compensate they would have to buff the anti vehicle weapons. Which would destroy vehicle gameplay for everything but the Scorpion.

Agreed.
It wasn’t overly powerful in Halo 3 so it shouldn’t be in 4
You’re complaining that the tank is an instant kill? Dude, it’s been like that since the first Halo game. They’re not ever changing that aspect and they never should.
> It wasn’t overly powerful in Halo 3 so it shouldn’t be in 4
You drunk…?
I’m sorry, that was unprofessional of me.
Seriously though, have you been drinking?
Again, I’m sorry.
> It’s a futuristic super tank…
That completely justifies everything…
> You’re complaining that the tank is an instant kill? Dude, it’s been like that since the first Halo game. They’re not ever changing that aspect and they never should.

He’s right, they shouldn’t.
What they should do is remove every single trace of it in MP-MM.
Its a tank
its an armored fighting vehicle with a 90mm high velocity cannon, what do you expect, the things blast radius is fine, if it was toned down then the thing might as well fire dud shells that dont explode, they dont call it a main battle tank for no reason
