Scorpion controls

I have to say scorpion controls are the worst in the series I hope they fix this for infinite. Also I hope they allow you to use the machine gun again. Thoughts ?

Yeah, I agree with you. The vehicles in H5 feel great to use, save for the tank. Not sure how 343i managed to screw up how the tank changes direction when they did such a good job with it in H4. Getting the machine gun controls back in the hands of the player would be lots of fun for campaign. While it would be fun for MP, I think it may be too unbalanced.

Funny enough I find the scorpions handling excellently, but I get that the way of controlling them is very different.
The trick is to briefly center the left stick to switch between directional and stationary movement. You’ll see that it’s actually much more versatile then previous tanks, especially being able to rotate the body while staying stationary is great to either protect or get your gunner into optimal position.

There is a campaign mission that starts out with a tank I think for just trying it out

Ya I agree other vehicles drive amazing. And ya machine gun only for PVE content.

When it comes to the Halo game with the worst Scorpion controls, Halo CE must be a clear winner as it’s difficult to aim with it and you can only move in the same direction as where you are aiming.

On the other hand, the Halo 5 Scorpion controls is relatively good with the exception that it’s a bit to easy in my opinion to turn the tank which has introduced me to instances where I have managed to turn the tank a bit too much by accident. Other than that, the controls are relatively good and the tank will behave like expected.

I love the way the scorpion handles, as another user said the trick is to briefly center the left stick to switch between directional and stationary movement which is quite handy in warzone etc.

Thanks for posting this. Would you mind expanding a bit on it? Are you able to switch between directional and rotational at any time or can you only transition to one or the other? Sounds like this new bit of knowledge might change my opinion on the H5 tank controls.

I didn’t get to drive a real tank but i bet this is as hard as the real thing. Its funny tho, driving a Forerunner Fhaeton is as easier then driving a century old war machine made for 3 purposes. Aim, shoot and relocate.

I have buddies who have driven real tank. They say it’s easy twin stick steering.
