Ever since Bungie decided to have maps show up more than once to vote for in Score Attack, it’s becoming really frustrating if you want to play on a specific one.
The DLC map Unearthed made things already a tad more tricky than they were before. Since you originally had only eight maps and can vote “none of the above” seven times, this meant that every map showed up once. But Unearthed changed that since you now have nine maps but can still vote “none of the above” only seven times. So that means that one map never shows.
But having maps show up multiple times now makes things really frustrating. Nine maps, each of them likely to show up twice? That means that if you’re unlucky, half of the maps available don’t show anymore at all.
Now, I’m not asking for a complete overhaul of the map/gametype selection (although you should keep that in mind for Halo 4), but just to change Score Attack so that either each map show up only once again, or to increase the number of times you can vote for “none of the above”. Double it. Triple it, if you like. But the current way is really frustrating and annoying.
The multiple maps maps showing up the same time thing happens to me as well. I remember one time I was trying to get a specific map for a challenge, and the map never came up as an option. Let’s hope the map rotations get a little better. Have you thought about posting this in the feedback thread?
I know what you mean. I offset my frustration by the thought that every kill goes to commendations. Yes, I enjoy looking at those, and relish a bit when I have a higher percentage than someone else. Also the thought that FF gives us a lot of credits. And yes, I enjoy ranking up. I’m not gonna lie.
I see this glass as half full. I have lots of chances to get the game type and map that I want. Sure, sometimes it doesn’t always work out in my favor. but it could always be worse. We could be given only one chance to vote none of the above. Then we’d really be screwed.

I think I did, but I’m going to do so right away (again?).

Same here. But since I already have all FF commendation on onyx except Grounded (kill vehicles), Perfectionist (survive round without dying), and Backup (get assists), I currently want to play mostly on Holdout because of the three or four Banshees that show up during a 15-minute game.
But I had to go through FOUR full voting sessions (i.e. vote “none of the above” seven times each) before that map even showed up. That means that with nine available maps, one map didn’t show up 28 times in a row. Actually 31 times, since I finally got Holdout as the fourth option the fifth time I tried it.
Commendations and challenges don’t really matter that much to me at the moment. It’s really just all about that some maps hardly ever show up to get voted for because maps can appear multiple times during one voting round. It’s at least two times, and I could swear that I saw some maps pop up three times already.

Sure, it could always be worse. But just because something could be worse doesn’t mean not to try and make it even better. =)
Also, there actually are only very few maps I like to play.
[/li]- Unearthed: Very good and still rather new for me. Don’t want to play it too often so it doesn’t get old (see Corvette).
Corvette: Great map, played it far too often, got boring.
Beachhead: Same as Corvette.
Overlook: I really dislike that map. I can’t explain why because I don’t know myself. I just don’t like it. Yet I still play it every now and then to … “convserve” the maps I like.
Glacier: Good, but sometimes severe frame rate issues.
Outpost: Okay map and I’ll play it sometimes. But if I prefer other maps.
Holdout: One of the maps I didn’t like initially but become to like quite a lot over time. Currently my favorite map, actually (and not only because of the Banshees).
Courtyard: Good map per se, but it’s all I get to play in FF Arcade since it’s small and people can use jetpack + rocket launcher.
Waterfront: Was my favorite map for a loooong time, and I still love it. Became a bit old as of late nonetheless.
So the only maps I really like to play are Unearthed, Waterfront, and Holdout. Every other map is either not my cup of tea or I’ve played it so often already that it got old and boring.
And there’s one more thing: With the upcoming HCEA FF map, there’ll now be ten FF maps to play on. And even if each map shows up only once that means that with 10 maps and 8 opportunities, you have an 80% chance to play the map you like. And while 80% is fine with me, half of that, i.e. only 40% because maps show up twice, isn’t.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I only play 2 maps & 2 different game types. But I feel like I get more the enough opportunities to make a choice. I’m just saying I appreciate getting more than one chance to vote.

You’re even pickier than me! XD
And yes, I understand your point. I really do. And to some point I actually agree with you. But I just don’t see the point of a half–Yoinked!- system that more suggests flexibility and having options than to actually provide them.
As I said, it worked perfectly fine when you had only eight maps that showed up only once each, and you could select something new, i.e. “none of the above” seven times. But in the light of us (fortunately) getting more maps, that system ought to be adjusted to accommodate not only more maps but also that maps show up more than once now.
Also, at least for me, it’s not so much what I play but where I play it. The only gametypes I dislike are Mythic Attack (a mode for masochists) and Crashside, which doesn’t make much sense for me with only one player. All the other gametypes I actually like, though some more than others. And even if I get my favorite gametype, 2x Score Attack, I don’t like playing it if I have to do so on a map I don’t like. Instead I actually prefer playing Crashsite or Mythic Attack on a map I like.
My favorite game was Gruntpocalypse on Corvette. Not for credits, but for practice. I haven’t had Gruntpocalypse come up since they changed things, and Corvette rarely comes up.
And it’s exactly the other way around for me. There’s hardly a voting session where I don’t get to select Corvette, and Gruntpocalypse shows up a lot, too.
As I said, the current system is inherently flawed.

Gah! This would have made a 3rd game type I would play if I could ever get it.
> I dont think score attack should have a voting system tbh. Your playing alone so you just choose the map and gametype. I hope it changes in H4.
Very true. But Bungie basically recycled the voting system for matchmaking and firefight for Score Attack as well. To be honest, I’m surprised you don’t have a voting system when playing the campaign…
I dont mind the maps, but the gametypes. I love Gruntpocalpye, but it rarely shows up for me anymore. Instead I get Skirmaggedon EVERY voting secession. I hate skirmishers with a passion that makes drones look fun to fight.
> I hate skirmishers with a passion that makes drones look fun to fight.
Oh, I SOOOOO agree on that! Skirmishers are by far the most annoying opponents in a Halo game, ever. >:(
But at least they nerfed them. When Skirmigeddon went live, the Skirmishers fired their weapons at least twice as fast than normally possible and had perfect aim. Death by a single Skirmisher halfway across Beachhead wielding a needle rifle in less than a second. Wasn’t funny. Not funny at all.
