Scope glare has no business in Halo

First game it has appeared in? Mate, did you not watch the video I posted earlier? Bonus headshot damage on shield has NEVER been a thing in Halo. I proved it in Reach, and if I need to, I will prove it in every single game (aside from 5 since I don’t have my Xbox).

Quick edit: I’m confused if you are referring to scope glare or bonus headshot damage. The comment of mine you replied to was referring to headshot damage, NOT scope glare.

And that’s what we both get for not writing in complete sentences and referencing what we are commenting on. Lol.

Scope glare. When I played H5 it wasn’t a thing.

But then again, if you play the Academy Weapon Drills then you’ll see that headshots do more damage, and are needed to complete a lot of those challenges at 3 stars. The bots don’t like to die with body shots so I’m not sure if any multiplayer changes affect those bots in Weapon Drills.

Well the game straight up tells you headshot bonus damage doesn’t apply to shields, which is true. Headshot bonus DOES apply when shields are down, even for guns like the AR, which was not true in previous games.

The training ground may be different, but for standard MP, a BR for example is still a 4 shot regardless if the first 3 are body or head, as long as the last burst is to the head.

Is that what that is? I thought it was a charging effect for one of the new weapons I was unfamiliar with.

I think scope glare should be removed.

Nope. Every weapon that has a scope has glare. The BR, Commando, Shock Rifle, Stalker Rifle, Skewer, and Sniper all have glare. You can tell which weapon the person is using by the glare as well.

The Hydra also has a glare whenever someone is using the lock-on mode.

At the very least the glare should be toned down. Right now it’s like shining a WW2 searchlight down the map.

Yeah the Scope Glare, along with the constant Red Outlines on enemy targets make the game feel like it’s playing itself almost. It’s so funny to me that they keep trying to nerf the Motion Tracker, and removed Grenade indicators but then added that crap. It’s like do you want this to be a casual game for children or not?

Even if there are compelling reasons to keep it, why is it JJ Abrams lense flare level of “glint”. If someone is aiming a sniper rifle or skewer its like lighting a signal flare more than encouraging counterplay.

I’m not a fan of the mechanic in a Halo game, but if it’s gotta stay then at least tone it down.

I heavily agree. It needs to go now.

I think it’s fine. It’s not realistic but I don’t object to it as a gameplay mechanic. It’s an incentive to not stay zoomed in the whole time, which will increase the effective Time To Kill (TTK) for weapons.
