The Scattershot in Halo 4 was amazing. It had a high rate of fire, did a lot of damage, and has good range (for a shotgun). I would pick the Scattershot over the Shotgun any day.
All of the Forrunner weapons drastically changed in Halo 5. Some for the better, others for the worst. The Scattershot was the latter.
In Halo 5, the Scattershot got a much slower rate of fire, doesn’t do as much damage, and it is so inconsistent.
Its appearance is not even correct to how the thing shoots. (This isn’t really important but I’d just like to say it). I like how the Scattershot now shoots in a specific shape. That’s the way it should have been because it has several barrels. 6 to be exact. But my problem in this aspect is that it shoots 8 projectiles in a totally different shape than the barrel.
It has been too many times where I was in a closerange gunfight with someone who had a loadout weapon and I got 2-3 direct hits before I was killed. Most of these times I was using Lonesome Thing! It is the second Scattershot variant that “supposedly” does more damage. There was even a time I had the Scattershot and decided to pick a fight with a guy with a Shotgun. I had full shields and got 1…2…3 direct hits on him before he 1-hits me with his base variant Shotgun. His shields weren’t even down. We were the same distance apart when he did that one-hit kill as we were when I shot him 3 times with a broken water gun. My shields were full health. I don’t know if his were or not but if they were it would only further prove my point. It also shoots half as fast as it did back in Halo 4. The only way to get kills with the thing is to be right there at point blank range. But then you might as well use a sword. If you see someone with a Shotgun or Scattershot you usually don’t know until you die or they die. If you see someone with a sword you would be like “Oh -Yoink-, he’s got a friggin sword! I’m screwed man, I’m screwed!” So sword would be a better choice.
So yeah 343, the Scattershot definitely needs a buff. Make it feel like it deserves the “rare” rarity it currently has. Make it feel like a Forrunner weapon that has technology in it that is centuries beyond our comprehension. Make it work getting.

I actually don’t have any problem with it. It has a decreased rate of fire but, if anything, I feel like it has more range than in 5 and is actually more consistent. At least for me.
The suppressor is a lot worse than it was in Halo 4. Unless you start firing before you engage with someone, you will die. Takes way too long to start firing rounds. Scattershot is slower, but at least you can stand a chance in a surprise encounter

I haven’t liked any of the shotguns other than the original CE version. In order to have a shotgun with realistic range you have to move away from Halo, COD, etc and go to Battlefield. In general, though, I like the Forerunner weapons in 5 way more than in 4. I am still more of a BR55 guy, though.

So would I. The Incineration Cannon doesn’t even do as much damage as Rocket Launcher. It doesn’t even deserve to be called “Incineration Cannon” anymore because it is no longer a cannon of instant incineration.

I actually think the scattershot variants are worse than the base gun. I never pull those out in warzo e anymore. I do think the scatter is pretty powerful in arena though. Had many a good spree on rig with it.
The only weapon I can say is the worst in Halo 5 is the Railgun. It has a charge-up rate so slow that if someone shoots you first, you’re going to die. And if your aim is off even by a PIXEL it won’t kill your target. I’ve had it hit the same guy directly two times in a row and his shields didn’t even go down.
