Scatter shot sucks

Seriously will this gun please just get a bit of a buff. nothing big but the gun never seems to work the way it should i mean seriously,

I shot a gun 3 times close range and all that was done is he is 1 shot.

Unlike the shotgun, the scattershot is NOT a hitscan weapon. Its projectiles travel really fast, but you often have to lead your target just a tiny bit. Helped me a lot once I figured that out.

I prefer to use the scatter over the shotgun due to the RoF.

If used correctly you can mow people down faster.

You mean the lottery cannon? Agreed. It needs a buff.

If it’s projectiles were changed to hitscan it wouldn’t be much different from the shotgun (if at all). I do prefer that it remains an okay weapon at close range (leading people helps a TON).

Same here. The shotgun appears to inflict a bit more damage per shot, but I still much rather use the scattershot. And that you can ricochet your shots around corners is just awesome. Impractical most of the time, but awesome.

Apparently on LAN it is a completely different weapon (i.e. as strong as it’s intended to be). I think matchmaking connection in general is the scattershot’s biggest difficulty to overcome.

Scattershot is easy to use if remember not to treat it like a shotgun.

The tip to lead your opponent is helpful.

I also recommend never firing just one shot with the expectation that it will win the engagement. I fire multiple shots when engaging an enemy. Sometimes it works with one but you need to guard against all the times one shot doesn’t cut it.

I don’t know. For me, it’s a lottery. Some times I can get a one shot kill, but I’ll repeat the same process again and it’ll be a shot and a melee or sometimes maybe even 3 shots. And those times when it’s 3 shots I also get a tendency to choke because after the second shot I really just can’t believe my enemy hasn’t dropped dead. It’s not really a point blank range weapon like the shotgun, but it’s not very effective at the AR’s range either, so I don’t know where it stands, and to me it seems extremely UP.

Very true. I ALWAYS fire two shots immediately one after another. I rather waste a shot on an opponent that already died with the first one than give an opponent who survived that first shoot the opportunity to retaliate.

Thus, why I got it as my first completed weapon commendation. It just takes a bit of learning to use.

It does seem rather inconsistent at times.

LOL. Best term I’ve heard for this weapon yet. I’ve been using “Inconsistent Shot” but I may have to plagarise this term.

I think its fine to be honest. I don’t like its consistency but thats Halo 4 for you. I would much rather have a Concussion Rifle buff. How people master that IDK.

It needs more range or more damage. The Scattershot is like a handheld fireworks show compared to the Shotgun.

Kind of sad when the best advice for a close combat power weapon is fire twice at the target because you had no idea if they’ll die by shot one or not.

Seems like a broken weapon just from that solution.

I think ricocheted shots should do more damage. It would give the Scattershot its own little niche. Instead of trying to shoot someone head on with it you would rely on your intuition and radar to try and kill people lurking around corners. Right now it’s really just an inferior shotgun but with this new proposed buff I think the gun could provide new and interesting ways to play.

I hardly ever see anyone use the ricochet shot on the Scattershot, what a wasted mechanic!

i lead most of my shots anyway still cant get out of halo 3 mind set.

I usually have to put 3-4 shots into someone before they die by the weapon but i also keep shooting like most of you said.

But when im like 5 feet from the target and those 2-4 shots dont kill even though i hit them it makes no sense. I know they didnt do anything to it with the tuning but it feels weaker

It’s a terrible weapon. I’ve killed people in two shots from a reasonable distance, but up close, it sometimes takes me three shots to get the kill. It’s an inconsistent piece of garbage that only seems to work properly when it feels like it.

When I expect someone to drop dead, I stop shooting, only for them to still be standing there. It’s ridiculous.

Apparently its a monster on LAN so I don’t think 343i can buff it. They just need to make it so its less random online.
