The title says it all and it is literally over one thing… Perks. Call them what you want in Halo but they are still CoD rips.
My whole complaint about these is just because of the “resupply” one. I was watching a vid on ign about them and when that was explained I wanted to cry. I am a Halo purist and what made me literally abandon CoD was when it takes a perk to pick up ammo and grenades because no one picks up weapons and ammo withouts perks(sarcasm). The video described that specialization or whatever it is called as a way to scavenge ammo off bodies… NO!!!
The thing I love about Halo has always been how it set its self apart from the trend. I don’t mind loadouts. They are a cool way to pick if I want a BR or a carbine for my rifle to start with instead of a literal team br’s match. But now I go from past games being able to stroll over grenades to needing a freaking perk… Why? What made this a logical move? Even people in CoD hate they can’t pick up grenades.
Bottom line I will be loving Halo 4 but why are we getting the CoD treatment? Because you are desperate to get the mainstream back? Halo spawned MLG, RvB, Theater. You have the most hardcore background. I mean i am whining about what may destroy Halo for me and I will still have it in my console for over a month straight just like Reach(perfect example of hardcore fan).
All my complaints will go away if there is a classic Halo list where it is weapon loadouts and possibly go back to the simple weapon spawns.
Hi, Maybe I can help.
I am not an H4 expert, but I did get my hands on it quite a few times during the Eurogamer Expo. While I don’t know what perks were in use, if any. I can tell you that if you are a GOOD player like I was, you WILL run out of bullets quickly. Enemies depending on their preferred loadout may also not drop you a gun with bullets in it. and the weapons despawn MUCH quicker. This would explain why this apparent resupply perk is feasable. this way you can stay in the back and long range for longer and use the corpses of the enemy to keep your gun full.
The perks and Armour abilities are things I hear the loud vocal minority in the forums complain about, but long story short they ARE the minority. The Majority, just want to play the most accessible and fun Halo encounter possible. While I do have a tendency to drift towards competative play I am not so selfish as to wish a complete game regression to get my Old school fix with a new school look. The game like all the others has evolved, and Even if you want to call what is happening to H4 as CoDifying it, H4 can pull it off, and from what I’ve experienced probably will totally pull it off.
Halo has always been about options, whether it’s in the sandbox campaign, or in multiplayer. H4 has always pushed to give us more than just a couple game modes. As far as I’m concerned it’s the only FPS I will ever see as truly trying to make an effort to evolve, please as many people as possible and keep bringing new things to the table.
The horrendous weapon balance, outdated engine, clunky mechanics, and terrible hit detection are what make CoD frustrating, not necessarily what you are seeing here in Halo 4. Calling the enhancements in Halo 4 CoD rips is not accurate, as you do not know the reasoning behind their addition to the game. The Halo formula has been in need of some changes for newer iterations of the IP, and some of these changes are just what the doctor ordered.
Grenade spam has been an issue for the last couple games, especially in Reach because of the decreases in health. From what I have read and heard, the new system does away with that issue very nicely. As much as I am a fan of older style gameplay, I am also happy to see a different approach from 343.

Very good point, I did forget to mention that my experience in H4 the grenade spam was VERY nicely managed. In reach All I ever seem to do is blow up. (the grenade spam in reach is -Yoinking!- ridiculous)
