Saw replaces SMG?

When I see the SAW it reminds me of the so much of the SMG. Thoughts?

Finally theres an LMG in Halo. I think there was one planned in Reach but it never went through. I think this will be a great gun and is perfect for Halo. I repeated what I said about 8 times didnt I XD

In a waaaay it kinda does. The smg was a little spray and pray, but not as much as the SAW will be. The saw is all about holding that trigger until your opponent dies.

It looks more like reimagining of the MA5B from Halo 1 Which technically had the characteristics of a LMG.

Is the SAW gonna be a primary weapon?

An SMG and LMG are entirely different. Most notably, the magazine size is TREMENDOUSLY larger in the SAW. What is it, 72 rounds or something like that? I think its niche will be far different than the SMG. It looks like a suppressive weapon or something to take on several people at once. The SMG was definitely a close-quarters rapid kill weapon.

I don’t think it’ll be replacing the SMG since it’s going to be an ordnance weapon. If I got an SMG in an ordnance drop I’d contact Infinity and demand a refund.
