Saving the day at Gamescom

343 gave us some bad news. For me it was Forge > co-op… but still, it was deflating.

I assume the timing of the bad press was the classic -Yoink- sandwhich… hiding everything between two tasty slices of good news.

The Flight’s was one side of good… and now it’s up to Gamescon to save the day on the other…

What would 343 need to produce to make it up to everyone?

For me it would be another campaign trailer. Then a chunky look at Campaign being played (contrasting the poor showing last year). Then a glimpse of Forge, even in it’s early state. I want to see what scripting holds for the future. What we can do with the API (I love some stats). And what are their PvE plans; firefight vs warzone vs whatever…

I was actually thinking about this today. I think as much as the news sucks, it’s actually not a bad move PR wise. Not saying we’ll magically forget they said this, but I think sandwiching it in between another showcase is smart.

I think we may see another campaign gameplay slice. I can’t say how “Chunky” it’ll be or not. Along with that, I’m sure we’ll get news on the next flight. Possibly even for the upcoming weekend or the following weekend.

As far as stretch things they may show, I could see a further look at Battlepass content possibly and an in-depth look at BTB or even a new or revamped MP mode.

It is very likely that we are going to get another gameplay footage from the upcoming Halo Infinite especially when it comes to the campaign levels. At the same time, we might also get an official announcement for the Halo Infinite release date.

Honestly some other game modes would be sick to know they will be there at launch. Maybe a peek at the menu, multiplayer playlists. Like Winstead of Halo 5’s Btb all being one playlist. We get Slayer Btb and Objective. Or hell I’d be hella hyped for an MCC version of social where you can pick and choose? That would be beautiful. Hell give us a ranked BTB!

It’s either a good playlist selection for me or a news that campaign is being pushed back.

Some other guy in another thread suggest Flighting could continue if the game gets delayed again. I think that’s a good idea. Have a flight a weekend every month. Or maybe bi weekly flighting? Gives people a taste, but we don’t loose the initial population count like we would if they launch without modes

Edit: oh something else I thought of. I hope they don’t reveal any more alien factions for the game till we get to play it. Like it would be a hell of a shame if they revealed the flood. Do you know how cool it would be to be exploring Zeta’s under belly and you find a locked door. So you gotta figure a way to open it… Then that music kicks in… And you know you are screwed. Hahah that would be SICK!!

I think you’re right about them trying to put the bad news in between two pieces of good news. Before the info about no co-op or forge at launch came out, I would’ve guessed a campaign trailer and release date. Now though? I think there’s a better chance we get a glimpse at some unrevealed mode (if there is one). Everyone is upset about a lack of features at the moment and I’d think the best way to combat this is to show off something entirely new people can get excited about.

I could honestly do with just an overall perspective on what is happening and what is due to happen. I appreciate their transparency about current events however I want to know exactly what we’re getting now or later in the short term.

I’m not sure. I feel like anything that get’s mentioned probably won’t be at launch and I’m not sure I want to get my hopes up so soon. Sure I’ll keep an open mind for in case they reveal something but honestly with the awful news about no coop or forge…I’m struggling to believe they have anything worthwhile to get excited about at Gamescom besides maybe something to do with the campaign.

They really need to start showing what this game actually has at launch.
