Let’s call the Halo 4 we opened last year Halo 4 v1, and the Halo 4 we’re getting after June 3rd Halo 4 v2, since its pretty much a complete overhaul of the previous game.
I hope you see the fallacy in your logic now, 343i. What should have happened was this; you release Halo 4 v1 as a F2P beta, everyone plays and you iron out bugs, then release Halo 4 v2 this year, and continue working on the problems we’re still going to be seeing even after June 3rd. The release would have been even more explosive, and you would have kept a much larger percentage of the player base. All that sacrificed to beat out Black Ops 2’s release by 1 week. Now you’re stuck fighting yourself. Populations dipping under 20k, matchmaking times are longer than ever, still many bugs and imbalances to be fixed. Hopefully you remember this grave mistake when you release Halo 5.
Now that my rant is out of the way, I’m INCREDIBLY excited at the changes being implemented June 3rd. Its like we’re actually getting a Halo game this time, at least a fair margin more so than what we’ve been stuck with previously. The real question is this; is it too late? Is this the huge boost Halo 4 needed to stay alive and thrive, rebuilding its player base and providing balanced gameplay, or is it too far gone, lost in the depths of history as a bad marketing decision that killed an 11 year decorated FPS veteran?

Find out over the next few weeks. Must say though there is so much competition from other games these days. There is COD, Battlefield and now Destiny. Not to mention the rise of MMO’s in PC gaming which is very popular. On top of that Halo is still a single console game.

If we say that the number 1 most eaten food in the world is Salad. Other popular food is Yoghurt, Soup, Pizza, Fish and Sea food, and so on.
Now Salad is thinking it could make itself even better by adding some yoghurt to itself.
Even though Yoghurt is good alone, what happens if we add Yoghurt on top of the Salad?
Exactly the same thing as when we add elements from a Class-based shooter to an Arena-based shooter.
People aren’t gonna like it.
Even though there has been an increase of MMO’s, World of Warcraft is still the biggest MMO.
Even though there has been an increase of Strategy games, Starcraft is still the biggest Strategy-game.
Even though there has been an increase of Shooters … Halo is not the biggest shooter anymore, because it isn’t Halo. It’s just Salad with Yoghurt on.
The Salad was however the most eaten food till 2009.
The main problem is that whenever these updates are implemented, people complain. The Weapons update is pretty solid in my opinion, but like previous updates it’ll probably be rejected by the community.

This ^^
I sure hope June 3rd is a big improvement for Halo 4, but at best it will scoop away some of the yoghurt from the salad. It certainley wont be perfect after this but hopefully a lot better.
Halo 5 is their chance to give us a nice yoghurt free salad again, with some new things added like croutons, humous, quinoa or salad dressing.
Just no more yoghurty salad (CODified Halo) next time 343, yuk!

Such a perfect analogy. I’m not sure if this will be enough to bring back the bulk of the community that has left already, but damn it I hope it does…
Things like skins, maps, and gamemodes get people hyped to play.
Oddly, I believe the new weapon skins will bring back more players than balances ever well. “HALO 4 - NOW WITH A FOUR SHOT BR!” isn’t really a strong advertising pitch.
Until they take fiesta, err I mean infinity slayer out and put team slayer back in the series is going to suffer. I’m really surprised that they didn’t see armor abilities were frowned upon in Reach. I think they would be fine for a select playlist, but not every one. Having a public beta is key as well, but only if they take player feedback seriously.

actually… that 4 shot br is making me come back xD

Until Halo has huge maps and game play like Battlefield and, to a less extent COD, in terms of realism, player numbers, vehicles and so, Halo will remain a niche scifi game in this 2013 and beyond modern gaming era.
Halo 4 should have had a beta. Got all of this out of the way at the start so we don’t have to play a broken game. The population would have stayed up higher too.

It was too late. One of the many questions I have yet to see from the community is to why Halo 4 was made for the Xbox 360? Think about it. All the multiplayer DLC map packs for Halo 4 has been released in less than six months after the initial launch of the game. This has never happened before. In previous Halo games utilizing downloadable content, the multiplayer DLC map packs were spread out over a two to three year period.
In short, have a big launch, mess up multiplayer, apologize, quickly release DLC, finally get to know your community, make updates.
Moving on now and pretty much everyone knows that the Xbox One has been revealed. Many will believe that upon release of the new console, the population of Xbox 360 users will lower due to the number of people buying the new system and the fact that the Xbox One is not backwards compatible. Sure, some my hold on to their Xbox 360 console, but the majority will upgrade in due time and that means less people playing Halo 4.
How about salad on pizza?.. Well ON pizza, no but Caesar salad and pizza on the same plate… YUM!
Seafood/fish on pizza… Well I’m no ninja turtle but I do know that a pizza does not have to have tomato sauce nor actually have cheese to still be a pizza… You can’t have vegetarian meat lovers pizza but many, many kinds of pizza (even desert pizzas) are way possible… And of course anchovies.
Do you eat what others tell you to eat or should eat? Do you go to a pizza venue and order a pre-made pizza or do you make your own? Do you order a “house” salad or do you attempt to garnish it the way you like it (yogurt and all)?
Just because you like the core foods to remain exclusive does not mean they cannot mix, nor are they distasteful for being mixed.

wow you really went out of your way to tear apart a good analogy. I hope your proud of yourself. But id still rather have a pepperoni pizza than a vegilovers.
You bet other people would agree with me.
