That’s more like what I got on Series S. My save is not corrupted, it’s just gone. I played the game, closed it down and came back the next day several times. This time though, I got a message pop up, not even sure what it was, and after it went my save was gone completely like I’d never played the game (only evidence being the achievements I have on my profile to prove it).
I had 2 accounts signed in on my xbox and the 2nd, not the one I was playing but the one that has GPU, signed in on PC.
I reported but was asked to play the first mission again and report back - but no idea what that is supposed to prove - I was well into the campaign.
i found a way to continue to play without a non stop run
if you’re playing on pc, all that you need is playing without a controller, if you play with it, a login screen may appear, CLOSE it with alt + f4 or the X button, or your save will be corrupted
don’t play the campaign if another person is playing any game with another console/pc
Yeah, I feel ya. I could feel the pit in my stomach get deeper when I realized what was happening. I really hope they can fix this because this didn’t even occur to me with Cyberpunk 2077 and that game was riddled with issues.
I Can’t Believe they haven’t addressed it yet! I am 15+ plus on hard in the game completed all the side missions and I can’t play the game, it is Soooo frustrating !
why they aren’t addressing this?
Exactly, you cannot comfortably start another game because what if this happens again. I’m not even going to try to play again until I know this is fixed.
So I finally got a reply to my ticket, they are aware of the problem but their reply is, “we don’t know how to fix it, and if we ever do, we’ll let you know.”
I can’t start a game and play cause it can’t be saved which means I can’t play the game period as I don’t have 20 hours to sit and play the game to completion. Here I the rest of the reply to my ticket. Good luck everyone, make tickets nonstop until they do something about it as they say at the end of the message they will only address a problem if it gets a enough tickets. So for me looks like I’m going to try for a refund:

u need to play without another game running on your xbox account (example: your brother/sister is playing minecraft on your xbox when you’re playing the halo’s campaign on your pc) and don’t click the “let’s go” button on pc when a pop up login appears, close the window instead
+1, same issue here. What a horribly frustrating bug- I just don’t have the time to restart the 12+ hours I put into the game, so I’m just not going to play until there’s a fix.
I’ll try to file a support ticket but idk there should be a better way to emphasize that this is a clearly reproducible, entirely game breaking bug, and (imo) should be a top priority fix.
Great game, though… which just makes it worse that I won’t be able to finish it on the 1 week I have off before holidays…
One very situational way to recover them is if you happened to be playing across multiple devices, like xbox and pc. if the save file corrupts on one of them, start the game offline on the other platform so it doesnt sync to the cloud, then load from local files. then go back online, and it will overwrite the corrupted file in the cloud. but again, its very situational.
the only workaround for this particular way of corrupting your save file is to make sure you never have more than one device signed in on the same account. unfortunately, if your game happens to crash during certain cutscenes/loading screens/even the end credits, your file can also become corrupted.
ive never been signed in to anything other that the pc and i cant find any signs of any local saves to roll back to.
Most other recent games would create multiple autosaves in case of corruption but sadly doesnt appear to be the case here and game pass folders are too locked down to investigate fully.
I don’t think this is just a profile issue, something else is going on here.
I’ve detailed my experience here: https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/rgxhlp/campaign_save_issue_crashing/
Initially, my game crashed at the main menu. This was fixed by removing my save game data. Then, I managed to fiddle around until I could load my old campaign save data. Everything seemed fine until today when I got the same problem, however now I can’t get my old campaign save data back and further to this I can’t start a new game because I now get the issue every one is describing here.
The ticket I opened (I have a blank campaign menu, can’t even start a new game or continue my save) says that they are aware but have no workaround.
Publically it still seems like they are stonewalling - 343 should add this to the known issues after hundreds of replies to this thread and hundreds of people on reddit with similar issues.
Try this, I copied this from another thread where someone was having this issue. Hopefully this can help you.
FIX ***Close the game, open the xbox app, steam and the microsoft store andsign out of all of them, open task manager and force anything involvingsteam, xbox or microsoft store to close.Open the game via the directory or through the xbox/steam store and it should ask you to sign into microsoft again.
