So I found a remedy! It’s a ball ache though. I had the same issue; countdown but then nothing loads etc, and with the multiplayer I was spawning under the map.
So, you’ll need two devices, luckily infinite being a play anywhere title it’s doable, I had this issue on my PC when I read skeezix fix; obviously at this point it was too late, however! the save file on my Xbox was still there, un-corrupted, so I booted it up and told it not to sync, I was then asked if I wanted to use the save on my system or on the cloud, I chose the console save and bingo, back in business! I then let it re-sync with this new uncorrupted save to override the dodgy cloud save and I’ll be sure not to touch the ‘let’s play’ button again. I hope this helps someone, fingers crossed they patch this bulls*it soon.
It’s astounding more people aren’t talking about this. We literally can’t beat the game and losing progress. I can’t believe how bad this is lol. Not to mention the issues multiplayer faces. What a failure infinite is
What seems to work for me is that I do not sign in again. When I launch the Xbox App on Windows, I should be signed in already. When I then launch Halo Infinite, it prompts me to sign in again, i close out the sign in and play. Once you sign in again, it will corrupt the save file. If you do sign in again, the game will show that you have more than one player in your fireteam. If the game loads into your campaign, it messes with your spawn making the game unplayable. 343 please fix!!!
The part that baffles me is that simply connecting additional controllers to your system is breaking a full priced AAA game in 2021. I’ve been connecting controllers to my PC for literally decades and have never encountered anything this asinine. It really speaks to the lack of care and QA that went into this release when bare minimum functionality like plugging in a controller breaks the entire game.
Same. Only completed first 2 missions and the next day i loaded dead in 3rd person with flashing screen. After that can’t resume. The new game starts, but the screen is still flashing.
Chiming in to say that I’m experiencing the same problem.
I didn’t disconnect and reconnect the controller - I simply launched the game first and turned on the controller (very common for me to do so in other games since I use wireless xbox controller which is always asleep until I need to use it) and that was enough to corrupt save.
I hope 343i can come up with a way to restore campaign progress because I don’t wanna play through the same missions again.
i have the same issue. can i by any chance get a save file from a friend of mine who also have the same progression as me, and replace it with the corrupted one?
Sigh, same here. Lost 15 hrs. Accidentally turned on my second controller and then clicked ok on the ‘Lets go!’, instead of just closing the pop up down. 3rd person, flashing screen, wiped progress. I’m hoping that there’s an easy fix to the borked file that can be applied but not that optimistic. Don’t want to start over though.
I’m having the same issues. I do have the game on steam and on xbox game pass So maybe the error is coming from there, I’m updating the steam version now and am going to try and see if it gets stuck again. if that doesn’t help I’ll delete the steam file of the game and hope it works, maybe there’s an issue where the game tries to read the save file from the wrong map or something like that…
Opened a support ticket, they asked if i completed the first mission which i have, twice. I made sure to link this thread in my reply so they know that many others are having the same issue. This is incredibly frustrating, and a major screw up on their part. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
I submitted a ticket also. Received an email asking me to complete the first mission. if that doesn’t work reply to the email with whatever mission I’m trying to load when the game broke.
How did this get missed during testing?

same issue here. maybe it has something to do with cross save between console and pc? nevertheless 17 hours of playtime almost had everything complete and now the save is broken. WELP. hopefully 343 can fix our saves because this is pretty sad honestly.
Currently on the same situation. Had a weird bug where MC was sliding around and movement wasn’t really working. Decided to restart and it won’t let me load the save but I can start a new game. 80% completion and I was doing my solo Legendary run first time. Really annoying all those hours lost.
