GamePass/XBox cloud saves are just flakey in general. This was the third GamePass game in a row that ate a save of mine well into a campaign.
My bet is 343 has a ticket sitting with the paint-eaters at MS responsible for save infrastructure. It will be addressed with all the urgency your typical IT Guy can muster.

Nah, I’ve decided to leave my favourite game franchise for a while. Too many issues/ missing features.
I’ll have another look at Halo later on if anything has changed and decide whether it’s worth wasting my time.

Which is comical because it still happens.
The issue originally stemmed from plugging in an Xbox controller to your PC, which would glitch your game, thus resulting in corrupting your save file, and STILL TO THIS DAY plugging in a controller glitches your game.
It just happened to me. I’m not starting the game again. What a joke
I completed the campain a few months ago and loved it. Wanted to revisit the game to do side quests and so on just to discover this bug. Cannot describe how dissappointed I am right now.

Just today I gave it another try with PC Version from Xbox App, and my save is finally loading again.
Far behind my actual progress, but I am able to use the official Version instead of some pirated.
Well done.
Still occurring after the Nov update. I have been unable to load this save file and finish the campaign, countdown starts and nothing happens.
