its an issue with xbox app and gamepass, not the coding with the game. they really cant do anything when this issue isnt something they have access to fix
Nevermind that many of us have played countless other games through Xbox App/Gamepass and never lost our saves, itās happening to Steam, Xbox one and Series S/X players as well. Itās literally a first party MS game on a MS service where no other game has this issue. You canāt be serious and itās absolutely a problem with this game and this game only
Iām on Xbox one, no game pass, bought the game. This issue is not isolated to pc game pass users . Iāve talked to people across all platforms with it happening to them. I never got the pop up, mine happened randomly after a cut scene freeze up during the conservatory mission
I wish that worked but new saves get corrupted too. Iāve started multiple new games, never got the pop up, and when I exit to the menu it wont let me continue the new save. The only way Iād be able to beat the campaign is if I leave my PC on 24/7 and dont exit the campaign lol.
Im going to ramble⦠but itās honestly a pretty interesting bug from a QA perspective and if I were to guess it probably stems from unfinished split screen/cop-op campaign functionality. The bug happens when a user plugs in another input device, for many of us it was plugging in a controller or switching to mouse/keyboard, but when that happens it thinks a new user is trying to join which prompts the ālets goā modal and when you āenableā that 2nd user the game accepts it for some reason but errors out at a root level. I say root level because it isnāt save specific but deeper in the users account. I dont know where the save data is stored for stuff like skull unlocks (because that is not through saves, its at a user level) but I wonder if there is a flag somewhere that always sets you as logging in as 2 players thus corrupting every save file you start.
If my wild theory is right then the issue isnāt with the gamepass/xbox app but rather how 343 interprets the action of a second user logging in from these services and where itās being saved at.
Its happening to people that arenāt just using gamepass apparently, as indicated by other comments.
Oh then Microsoft need to sort it out then. Doubt that will ever happen thou, Im just doing regular back ups of my new save just incase.
My issue is similar and seemingly makes it impossible for me to actually finish the campaign. Iāve made it to the end of The Sequence level on Heroic twice now, and both times when I begin to walk down the ramp to the transition to loading the Nexus mission, the game starts to lock up and then totally crashes. Iāve put over 20 hours into the game to get to that point twice and canāt progress beyond it to see the final third of the game⦠Never had the double login pop-up and I purchased the game through the Microsoft Store on PC. At this point, I donāt want to even try and push through the campaign a third time until theyāve directly addressed this issue cause I fear Iāll just end up wasting another 5-8 hours.
Itās bs that they havenāt acknowledged it.
Nah this is a bug that 343 needs to fix.
I donāt have game pass and only bought it on steam and it still happened to me. Never got a pop up for an additional controller, never even had a controller plugged in.
There is no fix for this yet.
Gamepass, just playing normally, no controller input or anything, game crashed at House of Reckoning, save wont load.
So I had this happen to me the other night. I went into the save files and Iāve messed around with moving some to the desktop and then trying offline. I have about ten save files in my wgs folder. Anyone have any luck getting an old save to work?
Iāve been having the exact same issue for about a week, and even after mustering up the courage to restart, I canāt reload into the NEW save file. It sucks because I was pretty far in and enjoying it.
Yup same issue here, all progress lost. Gunna cancel gamepass until I get my save back or feel like starting from scratch
Same issue (account popup and no loading after countdown), I just submit a support ticket.
Happened at House of the Reckoning (so annoying, I cannot finish the game).
Received a response to a ticket today, they still donāt have a timeline on when this will be resolved. I leaning towards this not being an actual issue just a mechanism in the game to prevent co-op at this time, once they open up co-op this issue will magically be gone
Having the exact same issue. Also in House of the Reckoning.
I completed up to the final boss on legendary 20+ hours lost -Yoink!- it
Same here man. 343 needs to fix this
Found this post after running into the same issue as everyone else. My save file became corrupted after disconnecting the play and charge kit USB cable from my XBox Series controller in between a multiplayer session and campaign.
The controller was done charging and I dumbly forgot to unplug it before starting up the game. After choosing the āContinueā option I was prompted by the Xbox sign in prompt. Even though I saw a warning about this issue, it did not occur to me that simply unplugging the USB cable would trigger this issue. So I proceeded through the popup.
Once in game, I spawned at the correct FOB but with enemies there. In addition, I was in a weird 3rd person mode. Instead of killing the process with task manager, I dumbly exited the application normally. Now my save file is hosed. When I press āContinueā, the count down occurs and then nothing happens.
I lost around 12 hours of gameplay as a result of this bug. I was thinking about purchasing the battle pass. But I think I will just pass now that this has happened. Not sure I will bother replaying the campaign. Maybe I will be less angry at some point in the future and try again. The main reason I got PC Game Pass was for this title. Oh well.
Sadly had the same thing happen to me too. I use a Xbox Series X and a wired 360 controller to play amongst other games āIt takes twoā much like some people in this thread. Game loaded and was stuck with a flashing third person camera. I guess this is why they didnt launch Coop yet, but one would have hoped this bug did not exist.
Ah well I will wait till a fix is made, not going to risk a lengthy playthrough again just for it to become corrupt.
