Sarah Palmer why do most hate her?

My guess is because she jumps the gun to often and doesn’t think about the big picture.

  • Shes more human than what were used too with Spartans. In Halo Spartans are supposed to be these stoic, noble, chivalrous examples of Human kind who at times seem like machines because thats how they were brought up to see completing the Mission as more important than there own life. now Palmer and her Spartan IV come along and seem like yahoos with all there kiddie jargon and joking around we’re used to marines like that but not the ultimate warriors, they come off like a typical jock stereotype.

  • She is practically a nobody.
When Halo 4 came along finally most people loaded up the campaign played through it and were introduced to some ODST look a likes and a Snarky women in power armor and you just say to yourself what? you guys are Spartans do you know who am, I saved your -Yoink!- hides multiple occasions and the first thing you say is I thought you’d be taller you should be worshiping my feet for being the reason your still breathing. (I realize master chief is not me but players feel invested in the characters they play like watching a movie, take Mass effect for example) Palmer hasn’t had any introduction to who she is or what shes done, Noble team didn’t need this because just by looking at them you knew there story also the campaign revolved around them as much as Noble 6. a little waypoint video or comic book would go along way in describing why this person is how she is and why are these Spartans IVs how they are, why is she so abrasive and how come someone with more Spartan experience isn’t doing her Job.

  • Palmer is not very smart and is a stereotype.
Palmer and a lot of the people in Halo 4 are so thick, even the scientists are dumb because they keep getting incinerated by alien technology its like watching Prometheus all over again “lets touch all of this alien stuff not knowing what it will do” that one scientist in Spartan OPs said it right “we’re like monkeys banging a nuclear bomb”. Back to Palmer she is rude (some say its because she was in the military but shes a Spartan as stated above Spartans aren’t rude) in Spartan ops she gives her two cents every five minutes I don’t care just give me the brass tacks. Her dislike of Halsey because of ONI turning her into a scapegoat didn’t she think to talk to Halsey to gauge her without someone else cherry picking stuff from her past that was given the go ahead from the government Halsey wasn’t like I’m going to get those kids and kill most of them scar some of them and ruin there life’s. some people don’t see the big picture like Halsey, Thorne and Lasky do. Like when she tried to kill Halsey how about focusing on a defenseless old women you instead focus on the the main Elite that your fighting in the planet.

> I kinda feel like 343 tried to make a “badass” character to replace Johnson, but she just comes off as annoying and abusive.

Let me guess your going to say TLDR.
^
Edit: surprisingly it took 6 pages for someone to say that I misjudged the people on the forum I guess the dislike for Palmer is strong enough to keep people reading my topic.

I kinda feel like 343 tried to make a “badass” character to replace Johnson, but she just comes off as annoying and abusive.

> I kinda feel like 343 tried to make a “badass” character to replace Johnson, but she just comes off as annoying and abusive.

That’s a good point I’ll add it to my list.

> I kinda feel like 343 tried to make a “badass” character to replace Johnson, but she just comes off as annoying and abusive.

"Son, y’can try and replace me all ya like. Ain’t no man on God’s green Earth that will EVER replace yours truly, Sergeant Major Avery J. Johnson! And don’t you EVER damn forget that, or I’mma have to come back there and plant my boot so far up your backside that you taste god -Yoink!- leather polish!

An’ you just read this in my voice. If you didn’t? Well, must suck to be you, Marine."

And she’s quite a looker. But yeah, she does have that bit of arrogant mood to the UNSC. I still like her, but she is getting close to the point of what she doesn’t know about the truth, and I like that.

Because people think she’s a character created to replace Johnson.

Which is stupid. As Johnson’s worshippers, I think you should all know Johnson’s badYoinkery canot be replaced.

In any case, she does her job as a character well; to be a Commander.

Because people like to complain about something or someone just happens to be her.

I don’t mind her, but I don’t like the way she talked down to the Marine in Episode 7. The Spartan II’s may not have liked working with regular soldiers, because they slowed them down, but they’d never insult someone like that.

And I sure the last thing that Marine wanted to hear, as massive Forerunner machines with incredibly strong shields and weaponry to match phased in was, “You suck at shooting.”

Am I right, Marines? Uhh-hmmm…Damn right, I am!

Her personality is bland and predictable. And this status elevation to an important plot character is painful to watch.

Do you think that she is important?

I am not so sure…

Within the context of Spartan Ops… Yes.

In the Halo universe… Mmmmmm

Where the Haloverse’s story is going depends on whether she kills Halsey or not.

True,

Halsey’s going no where though

I was not too impressed with her aiming ability though… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just want to see her without armor. Sorry cant help myself lol

Let’s just say that I wouldn’t give a flying rat’s -Yoink- if she died.

> I kinda feel like 343 tried to make a “badass” character to replace Johnson, but she just comes off as annoying and abusive.

I’ve been thinking that aswell

Would you all be upset if your new partner in halo is palmer pehaps she will replace Cortana OMG lol.

tl;dr (jk)

To me it is about the dialogue - “Sergeant Major Avery Junior blow-the-hell-out-of-your-alien–Yoink- Johnson, reporting for duty!” is some awesome in-game stuff.

“Crimson - We’ve set you down so you can rescue the egg-heads from the hinge-heads, because the Marines are incompetent.” screamed over and over at the top of her lungs while I am dodging FRG globs is just annoying. She comes off as a sanctimonious prejudiced yoink.

She is a poor example of a Spartan.

She’s a shameless parody of a female Rambo; as one dimensional, badly written, and predictable as they come. She’s the very embodiment of the trend (in movies) towards simple minded, snarky, macho, eye rolling, face palming one liners. She’s a cringe waiting to happen…
