I’m sure we can all guess why they have a first comic of this new miniseries being about Palmer and how she was “An outstanding ODST who got the job of being commander of the Spartan IV’s” Even thought there are far more people more suited for the job. Like Eddie Buck. So of course they will have this story be awe inspiring to try to sway fans in her favor but will any of us who play halo 4-5-6 really care.
I don’t agree with my friends but they say they just need to kill of Palmer and they cheered when the Knight slapped her. I disagree that she should die but just get out of the picture. About 10% or less of the Halo fans like her and about 85% want her dead. Why would the Men and women of 343i still try to force this very unlikeable character down the throat of Halo.
Every since Halo came it the ones who you were meant to hate and love were very clear. Yet this woman is just so unlikeable and yet they still try to give her a good rep after all the crap of what she did.
Like talking down to the Scientist aboard the Infinity. Del Rio called them eggs heads first and she just sponged it up.
Not leading by example. We all know those are the best kind of leaders. MC, Captain Keyes, SGT Johnson, Carter, Eddie Buck and those are just the ones in the games. Even if you consider Halo wars SGT Forge always was with his men and gave his life for the UNSC.
Being annoying.
Insulting the MC first true line we hear her say.
Hating on Doctor Halsey for literally no reason. Maybe she felt intimidated by a woman who could bring control to the situation.
Having a -Yoink- voice actor, and still isn’t a good commander. A few friends of mine liked Johnson just because he sounded awesome. Palmer has a voice actor that supplies that but yet no matter how she sounds it still comes of as if she just doesn’t care.
Either way what I am getting at is. With these things all are against her and I know there are like 8 other things that she doesn’t have that could of made her a well and great person, but no one is feeling it. All I say is that in the new Spartan ops have Palmer in there or something but in Halo 5 for the fans just treat her how Lucas treated Jar Jar Binks.
Edited: Sorry about this being such a read I know myself I may not of wanted to read something like this but please do so. Thank you and reply.
TBH, she is the most disliked character in Halo. Jennifer Hale, i have to say, did a fantastic job voicing her, but the character itself, is what most of us dislike.

Personally I think this is a great step from 343. Maybe Palmer’s first introduction was a bit failure but now they got a chance to make her a bit more better. I’m really pumped for this because I really like her. I already made a picture about it.

Jennifer Hale is an amazing voice actress, but I gotta agree on the fact that they kind of made her an unlikable and uninteresting character. She’s most definitely not suited for command, since a good commander doesn’t belittle those under them by calling them names, like eggheads, or openly constantly hate on another person, like she does to Halsey. Sure, she’s allowed to have her opinions, but she should know how to keep them to herself.
In fact, she’s a good example of everything that’s wrong with Spartan-IVs. She’s full of herself, very unprofessional and just lets herself get thrown around like a doll rather than take a moment to think of things on her own and then stand up for them. Master Chief is a great example of a good leader. He didn’t let Del Rio tell him what to do when it came to facing the Didact, and I’m sure Palmer would have just sat back and taken it if she were in his place.

None of that really made sense. I don’t think Johnson had any real relationship with anyone and if his child ended up just like him then that would just be lazy writing. I’m saying give halo what it needs not what it wants. Fans will rage and I have seen people even stop playing Spartan ops just because of Palmer. Even when they love the game mode.

You are apart of that 10% that I was talking about. If a person has a 10% approval rating they might not be a good person. Also they didn’t just shoot her off wrong they did her worst in Spartan ops.
Also finding a Palmer fan is like finding a Legendary Pokémon, so why do you like her.

I’d rather have lazy writing like that than the risk of more monotonous lines like “eggheads”, “toys to play with” and so on lines she had.
Also, Captain Keyes daughter? Miranda Keyes to name one that suddenly popped up who were kind of like her dad.
Halo doesn’t need a new Johnson, but it doesn’t need the character Palmer has either.

I really do miss Johnson. But I agree with you. He is a reason to fight on for the fans and should not be remade. Palmer is just…unneeded.

As do I.
I’m not sure what can be in a comic that will improve how we view Palmer. If it’s prequel content, at best we end up pitying her fall from a capable combat officer to an arrogant desk jockey. If it’s set after SO season 1, the comic will need to totally change her characterization to the point where it’s not Palmer anymore. Either way, I don;t have high hopes for the comics. The best case scenario would be a huge fall from grace and slow repentance. People hugely dislike Palmer’s attitude. If she is to become likeable, she needs to be knocked down several pegs and come to understand for herself why. Like if she said something condescending to Master Chief just as Hood walks in the room and proceeds to tear into her for it. Well, that probably won’t be enough to get her demoted or reassigned to some backwater post instead of the UNSC’s most power ship, but it would be a nice start.
Unrelated to Halo: after the way Shepard’s characterization changed to drastically in ME3, I have to wonder if Hale is just bad luck. We’ll know for sure if everyone ends up hating the next character she plays for one reason or another.

Even if was a flirt, she picked one hell of a time to say it.
On an unexplored Forerunner world with the Didact, surrounded by enemies… yeah that’s the right timing.

how would you feel when you first meet someone and they just look at you and say
“Oh I thought you would be taller.” (Grins)what
I got from that was
“Hey there short stuff…come at me bro.”
if it was a flirt I’m pretty sure 343i could have done way better. I’m not saying it wasn’t but it if it was it could of been something more playful then insulting someone who has a rep of being a giant among men.
I’ve never, ever seen that as her being a jerk. I just saw it as a teasing type thing. The grin kind of confirmed that. You can tell she respects him by the way you see her act in the scenes she has with him. She wouldn’t even obey the order to arrest him.
That said…I love Sarah Palmer and am super excited for this.
