This is random but imagine if we got halo 1 elite armor pieces for halo 3 or better yet for infinite if they’re ever added, with the og face and everything. Imo they were the best looking besides infinites and they just look even better in halo 3s engine.
Well, there are 3 armors in Combat Evolved.
3 helmets, 3 shoulder pads and (I believe) 2 legs, 2 forearms protection and 2 colors for the shield gauge. I can never remember if the symbol behind is only on special units or a common detail.
Halo 2 made the shield gauge animated and functional (it’s accurate) but only the orange color made it. Only the first 2 games had that detail.
The biggest difference with every other Elite appearance ? Mandibles are tightly closed unless they shout or something else happen, only the standing animation gave any sign of breathing otherwise.

I’d prefer for Reach to be left alone, but that’s just me. The only thing I want for Reach Elites is the ability to customize each individual piece of armor, and maybe some added armor pieces for them.

Modding tools for reach are still in development, so if 343 does not add per piece armor customization for elites, then it is just a matter of time before the community adds it. Even if it is just for using in custom games.

Yes, but I still have hopes that they will add it officially.
I’ve got to say, after seeing the new character renders in the latest blog post and seeing how good the Elites look, and how back on form with their style they are? It’s honestly a shame we don’t have any news on whether they will ever be playable. They look absolutely stunning, and just think of how much customisability we could have with them? They could easily have just as much customisation as Spartans - imagine rocking your own custom elite in Halo Infinite in the classic Invasion gamemode.
Maybe I’m dreaming too hard, but wouldn’t this just all be great though?
-
Body type (different proportions, different skin textures)
-
Prosthesus (arms, legs, mandibles)
-
Face type (healthy, scarred, mandibles, eye colour, scars)
-
Tech-suit variation (full suit, sleeveless, partial sleeves)
-
Helmet type (full face helmet, exposed, visor/goggle colour or glow)
-
Torso armour (with attachments/extra widget details)
-
Shoulder armour (again with attachments/extra widget details)
-
Gauntlets (again with different attachments/extra widget details)
-
Gloves (armoured/unarmoured, no gloves, fingerless)
-
Waist Armour
-
Leg armour (with option to keep/change or remove armour covering beneath knee joint)
-
Foot/Toe and heel armour
-
Armour decals (Forerunner hieroglyphs, Covenant hieroglyphs, Banished hieroglyphs)
Lock all that together with armour coatings as well, imagine having a pristine set of armour for you to wear with pride, or a scarred and battle damaged set of armour, after the nitty gritty battle of Zeta Halo. I love the idea of having armour which I had previously worn in the Covenant, and over the years I’ve made adjustments and it’s gotten grittier and war torn, covered in battle damage, dirt and scathes.

Exactly that’s what I’ve been saying

They look awesome! All the more reason I want to play as them. 343 please.
Infinties elites look soooo good i just wanna play as them in Multiplayer despite the canon problems

What canon problems? I’m pretty sure that Spartans and Elites trained together after the Great Schism.
Besides, even if there were canon problems, why does that mean there can’t be playable Elites? Not everything has to make sense. Just look at the fractures armor, none of that is canon, and yet there it is.
There isn’t really a reason not to have playable Elites, 343 is just being stubborn.

> There isn’t really a reason not to have playable Elites, 343 is just being stubborn.
That reason is bs. There’s Anvil Station. Even SOS elites stationed on Infinity. It’s just up to them whether or not they want to implement them.
The primary reason they aren’t implementing them, outside of the extra work and hassle of creating balanced models, is that they are pushing hard for the multiplayer to be a story about your Spartan.
Pretty much everything about it, from you being a freshly augmented and armored Spartan at the training academy to potential future plans of using your Spartan as the main protagonist of future Campaign DLC and potentially the future games of the franchise. I’m actually glad for that, because there’s no way they could make a named character that can fill Master Chief’s shoes. It’s why Thorned and Locke failed where the Rookie and Noble Six succeeded. Rookie and Six were nameless, faceless characters and could have been anybody. Heck Six literally ran with the “this is your multiplayer Spartan” idea they are coming around to now.
It would be even more complicated to try to squeeze Elites into a narrative that is so clearly human. So they are just leaving them behind.
If they ever return, I have a feeling the will be treated similarly to Reach. Limited to certain game modes, offered little to no customization options, you likely won’t even be able to customize and save them in the Armor Hall like you can for your Spartan armor sets, needing to instead set one up in a different menu. And requiring you to still have at least one Spartan armor set saved no matter what.
I’m hopeful they at least do this. They can even release them alongside a Campaign expansion where we sidetrack from the UNSC and play as our multiplayer Elite. Though I feel like that will definitely be a one-off expansion before going back to stories about our MP Spartan.

Are you saying that my reason was bs? I’m not quite sure what you mean by that.

Reach was a very human story as well, and yet there were still playable Elites. I really don’t care about that whole “multiplayer is canon” thing. I just want to play as an Elite and have fun, I couldn’t care less if it breaks the narrative.

343 does care though. Because, if predictions about Infinite are true, your multiplayer character won’t just be in multiplayer anymore. They’re going to have an actual story told about them, and will likely feature in future campaign expansions as the main protagonist. In Reach multiplayer was still very much a non-canon part of the game. But now multiplayer actually has a story to tell, with cutscenes that will feature your Spartan in the forefront that will bleed it’s way into Halo canon.
Question is will that mean potentiol campaigen where your an Elite as well?
