I had a lot of fun in the Infinite flight. Already 343’s best Halo game. Shame there’s no Elites

Yeah, I was had some hope that the elites could come back but…may be not yet.

And no dual weilding ;-;
It’s 2021, and not too long from 2022. The last time playable Elites were in a mainline Halo game was Reach, 2010. It’s almost been twelve years, and we’re STILL not seeing playable Elites. You’d think they would’ve taken a hint by now, you’d think they would’ve realized, “Oh, maybe we should add them back”.
343 are not a bad company, but they’re stubborn about the dumbest of things.

Dual weilding has been gone longer which is even more surprising and stupid honestly

343 have a fixation with everything being UNSC themed, Halo 4, Halo 5, and now Halo Infinite.
I tend to think they’re making it UNSC themed because CE was UNSC themed. They said they’re going back to Halo’s roots, so I guess they’re going all the way back.

Yeah… it makes me sad though because almost every scifi game ir story is fixated on humans. It would be awesome if we got more stories from the other side, to see more of the aliens POV becuase not everything is black and white, good vs bad. There is a lot of grey area, and Halo 2 showed that very well. 343 needs to reaize how good they can make a story when they do what Halo 2 did and the double POV and more stories not about humans. Humans are over done and, frankly, boring. Imagine the diversity we could get if we focused more on the MANY different species of aliens then just one specues, humanity. Imagien how cool Halo would be if you could play as a Kig-yar or a hunter!! If we got cool lore that is idfferent and i teresting and unique and NOT human! Just inagine the possibilities
I’ve somewhat come to terms with the lack of Elites in Infinite, if only because this time they are actually trying to do something with your multiplayer Spartan as part of the story… It’s a shame, and I hate to see it. But if the goal is to turn your personal Spartan into the new protagonist of the Halo franchise so Steve Downes can retire then it’s easily the best alternative to their prior attempts with Thorne and Locke.
There’s a reason Six was so widely praised as Reach’s protagonist and is still a fan favorite character, it’s because he/she was our own Spartan.
I just really, really wish the Banished was the main Covenant offshoot protagonist right off the bat as early as Halo 4 so that the UNSC/Sangheili alliance could become the core protagonist instead of just the humans. If that were the case, a player’s Elite could just as easily have been themed as the main character of the game as their Spartan.

Just because they aren’t doing the same story style as Halo 2 doesn’t mean that they don’t know about it. They’re just doing a different campaign style, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
I’m not gonna lie, I disagree strongly with you on human stories being overdone and uninteresting. ODST had one of the best stories in Halo, and that was the Halo game that focused a lot on humans. In fact, all of Bungie’s campaigns were awesome, and pretty much all of them primarily focused on the UNSC.

Not gonna lie, I thought Noble 6 was a pretty lame character. He’s a blank slate, even Chief has more personality than him. All that was really special about him was that he may or may not have been a headhunter.

He didn’t have a lot of personality, but that was part of the point. Like with The Rookie the story was about the characters and events around him. Similar can be said for Master Chief, he just got the benefit of an amazingly bad -Yoink- voice actor and Joe Staten’s excellent dialogue that rides the thin line between cheesy and epic. But the Trilogy was never actually about Master Chief. It was always about the events that unfolded around him. The Arbiter had significantly more character development in half of a game than Master Chief had in an entire trilogy, because his section of Halo 2 was actually about him, not just those around him. Which is why the Arbiter was both initially just as divisive an addition as later protagonists and also never would have worked as the main protagonist of an entire game by himself. Heck the only actual decisions Master Chief made in the entire trilogy were to go through the Ark portal after Cortana, and to light the refurbished Halo at the end. And I feel like those were required to shift his role from soldier to hero for the grand finale. (Notice Noble Six did the exact same thing, following orders all game until in the final moment he chooses to stay behind and cover the Autumn’s escape).
343 took a different route entirely with their storytelling. Halo 4 was very firmly about Master Chief, Spartan Ops was about Thorne, and Halo 5 was about both Master Chief and Locke. Arguably playing again as your multiplayer Spartan detached from the story in Spartan Ops was one of the only widely accepted things about the mode. While the story was about Thorne, you didn’t play as Thorne. Your character never even appeared in a story cutscene, and you never heard a single person complain about playing as a nameless Spartan. But oh boy did people complain about Thorne when it got out that he was intended to become the new face of the franchise.

Good points, but I still didn’t really like Noble 6 or Rookie as characters. They had no personality, so when they died I really didn’t care that much. In ODST I was always so tense that Buck or Dutch were going to die, I didn’t really care a speck about Rookie.
When I play a game, or watch TV, I like that tense moment where you’re so afraid that your favorite character’s going to die. When I play as a character I want to be able to care about or relate to them, Rookie and Noble 6 didn’t provide that for me. That doesn’t mean that Reach or ODST didn’t have good stories, they have amazing storylines.

Had mad fun with the flight, but the fact that elites wouldn’t be in the full release (and most likely years away, if ever) was constantly lingering in my mind, and made my eyes rain.

I felt that dude. The only consolation that I have is H2C/A and H3 elites on MCC, even Reach but on CGB.

well hopefully they do add them in Halo infinite later down the line. At least thats the hope I’m trying to have for this game.

At this point I really am desperate for anything, I would be grateful even if they went the Reach route and made them only available for invasion and custom games. I just want to be able to play as Elites again, that’s all I’ve wanted since they were taken away. It really is true that you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s taken away.

I feel u bro. At this rate I think our best chance to getting them added in later is if infinite is successful enough to where 343 would see the need to add them back for a complete halo experience.
