Thanks man<3. U too whenever yours is.
At this point I can’t tell whether or not elites will be added. The addition of new elite content for halo 3, infinites live service seeing not only multiplayer but possible story add ons, and possibly invasion leaks have me hopeful. But given 343s history and their marketing for your own personal “Spartan” character, I’m not optimistic. No forge and split screen at launch just confirm that they haven’t really learned their lesson. However I’ll reserve final views on the game when it actually releases since we still don’t know much 3 months before release.

> My thoughts on playable Elites.
> - First of all, the war between Humans and the Covenant. War has many points of view. Point of views add depth, roleplay, fun, and bonding. When we first got out of sleep and did our UNSC training on the PoA, we thought and saw that every covenant was out to destroy mankind. But one Elite, out of no hope of surviving, showed Sgt. Johnson that they have feelings. - Halo 2 introduced us to the Covenant’s point of view as the Arbiter. We saw he tried to do what was right. Players chose Elites for MP and had fun no matter the imbalance. Did I care I was an easier headshot? No. I played for fun, like the rest of us. You might say “Elite too big” or “I could care less”. But, here’s where your arguments and hate are flawed. You say “Co op and Forge make or break the game”. You don’t care about Elites or duel wielding. Luckily for you, this topic is primarily on Elites, but anyway back on topic. Most of us play using mic or texting. But…have you tried to roleplay as your character? Have you ever tried saying “Forward Elites, we must capture the objective”? Or did the announcer do it for you? - In conclusion, are we REALLY going to just pretend we are forever in a Spartan training program for Halo 4 onward? Or are we going to pretend we are fighting for Humanity/Covenant in a war for the Ring/Halo. To be completely honest, comparing your hate for a species is like saying “Only playable Rebels are fine, we don’t NEED Empire, Republic, or CiS”. Or better yet, Jedi vs Jedi in training but no playable Sith or Dark Side users because “could care less”.
1: Not only that, but even during the war, not all Elites thought wiping us out was a good idea. Some even respected our ability to fight and out tenacity which they also share. That’s how the grunts avoided extinction if I recall. Heck some even wondered how come the prophets didn’t just bring us into the covenant which implies they see our potential in helping the empire. Heck if they did do that the covenant would be almost unstoppable. Until something happens… Of Couse that would likely fail sense we like to do things our way and we don’t forgive very easily,.
2:Another thing I sometimes here is that some thought humanizing the covenant took the fear out for them. While I think covenant especially the Elites are a forced to be reckoned with I wouldn’t consider them scary. If you want me to be afraid of something in Halo, give me the flood. Because they don’t see you as a worthy opponent. To the flood your just food. Not to mention that they make new soldiers by taking them from enemies especially when they’re alive. Body getting all twisted and contorted, organs being moved around to places they are not supposed to be, arms and even legs twisting and bending in a way that they shouldn’t and parts of the body getting repped a sunder. That’s scary to me, not an alien race that we can relate to on a intellectual level.
3: I agree here too. Eventfully the spartan only training this is getting a little redundant and boring if it hasn’t been already. Not to mention that most aren’t even playing to reach MLG, Some just want to have fun even if they are not good at it.
The fear might come from Elites themselves, I remember during the old days (on Halo 2) that Elites with Plasma Rifles were the dreaded for me.
Gameplay wise, they aren’t as easy to kill as pretty much anything else in the Covenant, with only Halo 2 Brutes being at that level.

I was part of a group for a moment on Halo 2, everyone was an Elite (that was the main thing, same emblem and background too) so quite likely that someone said something like that.
Might be a thing with Elite groups in general, Elites are the main thing so it’s easy to shout something appropriate for a bit of roleplaying.
Ah, the only way I might accept the lack of playable Elites in Halo Infinite is if 343 were being sneaky and the reason Elites are not playable is because we – surprise! – have playable Brutes at launch instead. Sadly, I know the chances of that actually being the case are astronomical. Given the recent rather negative news of no forge or co-op & split-screen for campaign (two core features of Halo) at launch, and challenges being the only way to obtain XP (for the battlepass), it seems clear where the priorities lie, and having any other playable species seems like an impossibility…
The Halo Infinite Brute designs looks absolutely beautiful, I would love to play as them. Only problem is, 343 is obsessed with humans being the main focus. It’s not like we don’t see humans EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Aliens are more interesting than humans in sci fi, but most game and movie producers don’t see it that way, so humans end up being the protagonists and the aliens the antagonists, so it gets old after a while.
That’s one of the reasons I love the Halo 2 campaign so much, it put in some grey areas between the Human Covenant War. It wasn’t, HUMANS GOOD, ALIENS BAD. It showed conflict and division on both sides and made it clear that not all Covenant soldiers were heartless baddies.
Even on the side of the humans there are some pretty messed up individuals (ONI). That’s how character dynamic in plots should be, there are good and bad people on the good side, and good and bad people on the bad side.
There needs to be more campaigns like this. They need to show both sides of the war and different reasons of why each side is fighting, whether they were lied to, seeking revenge, defending their home, or just wanting plain domination over the universe. There needs to be more grey areas.
I hope I wrote that in a way that actually made sense, I’m a rambler.

I remember a vid where hidden xp was talking about how jega rdomnai could be like another arbiter character and how we could get a redemption story for him. It’s probably very unlikely that we’d get this given he’s a banished leader and we don’t even know much about his character, but I think a dlc campaign about a jega redemption would be a dope way to get playable elites back too. It would give the much needed grey area back to the story that we saw with arbiter, not just “ ohhhh look at these bad scary aliens hyperius, esherum, and jega. They’re so evil and bad because they’re aliens. Look at our SPOORTENZ defeat the bad aliens Bc they’re so human and good.”
Edit: if jega gets a redemption, arbiter could come in and accept him into his forces, or depending on his character he could go mercenary. Idk just a pipe dream.

That would be pretty cool. Though, at some point I would like to see Thel Vadam and Jega Rdomnai have an energy sword duel.
Say, Jega beat Arby after a long duel and locked him up in a maximum security Banished stronghold, and it’s up to the Master Chief to rescue him and the other Swords of Sanghelios troops. And when you get there you fight Jega as a boss, but he escapes. They said stuff about rescuing Marines from the Banished, this would be even cooler.
Considering that they might release DLC in MP as playable, my guest is that they could be releasing it with some story content.

I sure hope so, I’m more excited for the campaign to be honest. I think they’re blowing the multiplayer side of things.
It’s not one or two things that made me lose my hype it was a combination of things that made it not worth it to me. No playable Elites, there’s weapon and grenade hitmarkers, there’s no player collision, no grenade jumping, no primary and secondary colors, no emblem customization, no dual wielding, there’s no co-op, split screen OR forge at launch, I don’t like the friend or foe system because it replaces red vs blue, I don’t like the personal AIs, I don’t like the Spartan voices who talk all the time, and the switch that turns them off turns off Jeff Steitzer too. All these things slowly kill the game to me.
Yes, there are a lot of good features, but the flaws greatly outweigh the strengths in my opinion. I know they’ll probably fix these flaws, and some of them might have already been fixed, but as of right now I have no hype for the multiplayer.

p sure theres gon be player collision, that was just the case for the old build of the flight.
Welp season 8 dropping soon and no piece per piece customization/ new armor for reach or even skins for reach, yet we’re still getting g new content for 3. I mean at least there’s flood firefight in ODST now…
I wish elites got new armors in season 8 that looks similar to the spartans fantasy armor, or fits that similar niche.
Honestly the spartan armor in season 8 is honestly the best armor besides the Elite armor in season 7 in my opinion. Especially the dragon scale techsuit, the stheno helmet, and the scalebound shoulders. Since the armor I listed is reptile themed its also my favorite spartan armor.

I was surprised to find this kind of Armor in Halo. I was like, this is Halo? But yeah I agree. Now it makes me want some Cobra themed Armor for the Elites.
I hope the poses will be usable though.
Anyway, I do hope elites get something in the next season as well. But I’m also still holding hope for their playability in Halo Infinite. Which reminds me.
I’m beginning to think this keeps happening because 343 is not given enough time to work on the game more.

This is precisely what I want in sci fi, and it’s the basis behind my own Halo fan universe. We need more like this- no more of this Human supremacy nonsense.
Mass Effect is a perfect example of what science fiction should be- it’s a story about humanity, and truly every species learning and accepting that they’re not the centre of the universe- they all are, and each deserves to share in it as equals. Imagine how amazing Halo could be if we weren’t so bogged down with one or two perspectives- if we saw things from the Jiralhanae’s side, the Kig-Yar’s side, the Yanme’e’s side, the San’Shyuum’s? I wish we could get something that fantastic.

That’s what the books are for, but I really want to see that stuff in the games as well.
I’ve always liked the Yanme’e, but they’re always left out of the main plot. Even Kig Yar have more recognition, which is really saying something. There aren’t very many times where you fight Buggars, which is sad because they’re a very interesting enemy type
Buggars need a little more attention. Even if there’s one that’s just a side character, I’d be fine with that. Just give my Buggar friends some love!

I made this post in the season 8 feedback, but I’d want you guys to see it too:
I’d like to see piece per piece customization in reach, as well as some new elite armors like maybe silent shadow or the one the shipmaster of long night of solace wore.
Since they’re also adding flood and elites to ODST and bringing up the gameplay customization to reaches firefight, I think I’m the future they should also add the option to play as your halo 3 multiplayer Spartan and elite. It would be killing 2 birds with one stone since it would be giving ODST even more gameplay options while basically bringing firefight to halo 3 since both use the same assets and engine. That is if we never end up getting forgable ai. While they’re at it, they could give us human allies/ enemies to set in both ODST and reach as well as giving us back the energy sword and sentinel beam.

I doubt they’ll give forgible AI, then we can make our own campaign levels, and if we can do that what will we need 343 for? We could already forge our own campaign. I don’t think it’s gonna happen.

In all honesty, we do in fact need Ai in Forge now because adding Ai has always been in Halo since Halo 1 through mods but Bungie and 343 refuse to add the option to do so without modding. Heck, it took Activision tell Black Ops to add ai in multiplayer but Halo refused until Halo Reach firefight vs. Bungie even teased ai in their Forge developer commentary videos but key word is TEASED, not actually said they would. “What would we need 343 for?” Far Cry had adding ai in levels but still they add new games, Timesplitters added it in Futute Perfect and we are getting a new game sometime, Halo had a Custom Edition on PC and people added in modded maps but we still get new Halo games… So I honestly don’t understand why we shouldn’t have it.

Well then I think my point stands then. I think adding the ability to play as our halo 3 multiplayer character in ODST would at least partially fill that void, at least for me. Just think, playing as your personal elite in ODST firefight slaughtering waves of flood.
