Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> 2533274911869879;19094:
> Me being a Sangheili main, it would be nice to see 343 add my brethren into Halo Infinite. Although, it might take a very longtime before they miraculously and, I feel, pure dumb luck they ultimately decide to add them to the multiplayer, it would be a blast from the past in a way. Truthfully though, if they do add them to Infinite, please, for the love of God, don’t give the Elites the unfair advantage like Bungie did to them in Reach; I hate the fact that I can’t do some things in the MCC CGB as an Elite due to their stupid hight advantage. If you do make them part of the game, please make them similar to the ones that we have playable in 2 or 3 where they fit right into the hight demograph of our battle-hardened heros. Hell, I’m still waiting for 343 to fix the model of the Elites hand when they’re using the Tactical Magnum from Halo 3, lol. Truthfully, I hope they add them, it would make my day overall, I’m always going to keep my fingers crossed for the day that does arrive years in the future, that, or months.

Not sure what you mean by advantage lol, because all I get playing as an Elite is a disadvantage, with the exception of having evade and the fact that I feel much more in my element as an Elite and much more powerful. But our much bigger hitboxes, heads that are just sniper magnets, the fact that forgers frequently put teleporter frames over teleporters which stop us from being able to use them (something I have to correct everytime I find a new map I like), the bars on the castle entrances in castle wars are too low for us to go in without crouching (which I also fixed in my Castle Wars Prime map). I’m not sure exactly what advantage you mean. If anything, it’s a disadvantage lol. But it’s one I wear proudly, because there is nothing in Halo I feel more at home playing as than a Sangheili warrior.

At least, until that beautiful day we get the option to play as every other species, then I might start to question where I feel the most at home.

I would love to see more elite variants in general. Considering the obvious samurai inspiration for the elites it would only make sense that they get their own Yoroi in my opinion.

I would really love to see that in game, Having 3 player variants instead of 1 would not only make the multiplayer feel more unique, it also would allow to expand the “player expresion” 343 has been mentioning lately more than ever.

It would literally be the honorguard armor, but yes i agree that and an arbirter armor would be awesome to have. But 343 has to add playable elites first, and for some reason i think we are more likely to get playable brutes first.

Their form factor is a lot more human like, so, rescaled to fit a spartan frame, they might actually be legit for comp.

Honor guard armor is still some of the best too

I just noticed this thread is 9 years old! Whoa!

I am not up-to-date with everything, but if what I am hearing is to be believed and Infinite is meant to be a long term game with a metric f*** ton of post launch content then it’s not out of the question for most of the races to be playable in some capacity.

I think a fun 3 way battle would be a Warzone style mode where three teams (Covenant, Flood, Spartans) duel or out on one of the Rings. That’s just a small fry idea, but with the longevity I am hearing about anything could happen.

Yea a lotta potential and speculation with future BTB and warzone variants. Would love elites to play a major role in them.

Been playing the Infinite Technical Preview and as someone whose biggest ‘Nice To Have’ feature is playable leets, I hate to say it but I’m really seeing why they aren’t there at launch.

  1. With emotes and player animations they have a LOT of rigging to do and adding playable elites at launch would create a ton of extra work.

  2. They seem to be really intent on nailing the core of the gameplay. It doesn’t seem flashy or showy, it seems like meat and potatoes is really what 343 wants to nail in Infinite. And I really hope they do, the game being tight and interesting to both new and old players is of utmost importance. If playable elites would have removed manpower from the core walking-and-shooting development, or complicated balancing, it’s what they had to do.

Flame me if you want. Playable elites are my most wanted feature too. But I can see why they have been (hopefully) put off for later.

For you it worked right out of the box? I’m stuck in the main menu with nothing loading and when I try to matchmake it just boots me back to the main menu after a while, can’t customize, can’t do drills, can’t check store, battle pass and challenges, I can just go aroun the main menu. The menu music is really good, but I’d like to see me of the game.

Definitely didn’t work right away, I had to wait a bit and try again. Their servers are definitely very stressed. It’s far from seamless and crashes frequently but the gameplay I have been able to try feels quite good. Are you on PC or Console?

I’m on PC. I’m glad people are able to play but, it’s frustrating to have a working code, having it installed, reach the main menu, but completly unable to go past that.

That’s what I’ve been thinking too. It would just be nice to know if 343 have plans to give us something in infinite somewhere down the line since this is an almost 10 year old deficit and 343 definitely knows about us.

Yes, I really hope they bring playable elites back with the same kind of love they’ve shown spartans.

From the beginning they said They won’t be at launch, but seeing season 7 of Mcc, The change for the better to the artstyle, map design, etc. it seems 343 is actually listening to us (sadly after almost 9 years). Plus they are against the clock to finish the base game, so i woud expect them to be added at least a year after launch for the reasons you have stated.

I will need to wait until they do show us this before I can completely believe them. If we are waiting for them to be released later and if that’s true I hope that does come true.

I’d love to see this too. I think having “classes” in some sort of large scale game-mode would be cool. Kind of like star wars battlefront

I believe a realistic expectation is at least 2 years in. Look how long it took them to get in new elite armors in mcc. if they get it in on the 3rd year ill be a very happy man. but i suspect that it might even take 5 years realistically speaking…

I’d argue they started to listen with Halo Wars 2 in 2017. Regardless, I do think that them “working against the clock” is the main reason why Playable Sangheili were cut from consideration. They did the same with assassinations, a feature we expected to see considering how many assassination animations Halo 5 had. They could be cutting corners to provide not the most feature-rich game with every nifty detail we expect and/or want, but just enough to satisfy us and without compromising the development of their game.

With that said, if assassinations were postponed for later, then I think there’s reason in hoping Playable Sangheili somewhere down the line, namely from an expansion, if those come to happen.
