The only time I think you should only play a spartan is if it’s competitive. Which is a very, very small percent of the playerbase.

> Well, what more can they really add? I’m pretty sure all the Halo Online Spartan armors were ported, that leaves Elite armors. They should also add techsuits and backpacks for Elites.

I’ve heard that there are over 100 Halo Online armour sets for Spartans. Some of those are just Halo 4 armours, as seen in Season 5, but since the only game that is receiving them is Halo 3, they are all still applicable. Between Season 5 and 6 we now have around 15-20 of those sets. I think they are far from done adding Halo Online Spartan armour…

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I-I can’t take it…m-my brain can’t handle how bad those first armor sets were…I think I’m gonna die if I have to see anymore…

I’m also a bit concerned with the grapple hook.

I literally in my own mind cannot under any circumstance envision an elite use a grapple hook. Maybe I’m stupid, I don’t know but I literally just can’t imagine it. I can however imagine sliding and clambering because I’ve seen it in extended media but the grapple hook has me stumped.

I really really want playable elites to be in, but I just can’t see an elite use a grapple hook.

They can always use a grapple pistol in their off hand.

Or, they can just use a grappling hook. It’s not like it’s particularly out of this world. Perhaps it’ll be more like an energy rope type deal similar to Jazz’s grappling hooks from Transformers Fall of Cybertron, which also happens to be how I’ve always envisioned Covenant grappling hook/rope technology.

That’s true, I guess I’m pessimistic since we’ve been let down the past 2 games.

I mean elites are basically equals to spartans, so in my mind they should be able to do everything a spartan can.

I also can’t imagine Elites using Personal AIs, which will be a thing in Halo Infinite’s MP

At this point since we still know very little about how Infinite is ultimately gonna be supported post- launch, I’d just say include it if its fun but still breaks canon a little. If we can see Maxis interacting with herself or Stitch and the other Perseus agents working for Requiem in Cold War Zombies, then I say include elites post launch, even if them using grappling hooks or personal ai doesn’t make sense, “because it’s fun.” ~Quentin Tarantino

To even solve the personal ai discrepancy for elites, they could just have a sangheili announcer giving them tactical data that the personal ai give to spartans. That way you could still personalize them too, such as having half jaw, Ripa Moramee, or even the grunt from halo 5 mm.

Why doesn’t an Elite using an AI or Grappleshot make sense? Sure it’s not in lore but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen. Elites aren’t honor bound Covenant anymore, they can use UNSC equipment.

So please explain why Elites using AIs and Grappleshots breaks canon. (I’m not trying to be pushy or anything BTW, I just want to know your reasoning)

It certainly doesn’t. I see no reason why not to let Sangheili do it. We do after all want them to be equal with Spartans.

It doesn’t break canon.

All I personally said was I just can’t see an elite use a grapplehook, doesn’t mean that they can’t Because they certainly 100% can. I just can’t for the life of me imagine an elite use a grapple hook, although my reason is very poor.

I guess I’m still upset at me thinking there’d be elite abilities in Halo 5 like Spartan abilities. I got my hopes as high as the clouds, but boy was I wrong. So I approach everything skeptical or pessimistic. I do think and hope we’ll get them later, but I’m just worried that won’t happen or happen years after the launch of infinite.

I guess I don’t really know my lore as well as I think. I mean I could totally see an elite use a grapple hook. The ai thing however did seem like a bit of a stretch at first, but the more I think about it elites could totally use those too if they wanted. They do have some kind of neural interface, like when we see arbiter contactlessly activate switches in halo 2 or receive the cortana/ gravemind messages in halo 3.

Elites can do just about anything a Spartan can. Spartans need a serum and armor to match an Elite, but Elites are awesome anyway.

On the talk of can Elites use AIs and all, not all elites follow the same rules I’m pretty sure, after the fall of the covenant they got pretty fractured, wouldn’t surprise me some of them are OK with AIs, and happen to be sided with humans, and like, how cool would it be to have an AI, that is an elite? You know. As for the hook, I thought about it a bit, a nice ennergy skin to it would be nice for elite, something like Metroid’s Grapple Beam.

Also not EVERY single Elite in the universe joined the Covenant. There were probably other factions of Elites that weren’t honor bound at all.

After the Human-Covenant War most Elites would have dropped the whole honor thing and moved on. A LOT of Elites joined the Banished, I’m so glad we still have them as enemies, Elites are fun to fight.

Well “covenant” honor. The vast majority of elites follow a code of honor one way or another just like not sentiment species, if not societal then at least personal. After the downfall of the covenant, elites as well as other covenant species probably redefined what honor meant to them, most apparently in things like tampering with designs like vehicles and energy swords. So it’s really not a stretch for them to start utilizing personal ai like Spartans do since it’s the future of warfare and would also allow them to be more effective in combat.

I find it kind of hilarious that 343 wants to strongly imply that your player character when you load up into Halo multiplayer is as important a character to the franchise as Master Chief. While simultaneously telling Elite players that their player character is not going to be in the game.

An Elite IS my player character. 343 literally hasn’t put my player character into a single one of their games barring H2A, and that was just because it was a remake. Despite the fact that they actually provide lore about how Swords of Sanghelios Elites are still actively cooperating, sharing technology, and codeveloping armor and weapons with the UNSC, as well as actively training with Spartans in war game simulations.

Like there’s zero lore excuse. They laid the groundwork themselves for why Elites would train at a Spartan camp, and why an Elite could have partaken in Halo 4, 5, and Infinite’s canon multiplayer scenarios. The only reason they aren’t doing it is to keep sweaty player from whining about hitboxes. Because those players’ voices are apparently more important than our player identities.

This is part of why I hold a rather large grudge against ESports.

PS: If pro players where as good as they say, they wouldn’t be phased, they’d play againsts promethean knight players and still pop heads back to back like it’s a bunch of grunt on easy campaign, regardless of playermodel.

Precisely. Though it certainly is because of a lot more factors than just the annoying Esports crowd getting in the way.

I think it’s even funnier that in all their marketing they insist that we the players are only Spartans even tho some of us are elites because of the precedents bungie set. Like they’ve been trying to convince and hypnotize us into just accepting that we’re all Spartans in the games, and that’s just not it.
To add insult to injury, they even re-redesigned them to be more classic looking and in size in infinite. But 343 still insists we play as Spartans in multiplayer for whatever bs reason. I don’t know, maybe they’re laying the groundwork for something big. I just hope they don’t pull a 343 post launch.
