Now y’all are getting me excited. Still hoping 343 gets behind the bandwagon eventually but I agree that they have given no indication of their desire to do so

> Very true. If ea battlefront 2 can do it, so can we

Now hold your Ghosts there pal. You’re comparing very different games. It’s not a matter of attaching a new model or anything, it goes far above that. The main issue being, of course, the first-person arms. You ever wonder when watching an “Elite campaign” video in Halo Reach, that the arms still used Spartan animations? Or the HUD remained unchanged or was the Elite HUD recolored to blue? Simply put, the first-person models used for the multiplayer and Firefight elites aren’t in the campaign maps. Yes, at least they can change the model, but I can’t imagine how it must be to even get there in the first-place.

Better yet, there’s some other videos that show an Elite campaign… but it was thirdperson, and was using the AI animations. Again, simply put, the AI Elite and Playable Elite are different, and the P.Elite animations aren’t present in the campaign maps.

Now let’s look at the Brutes, which is a much worse case. The Brute has no 1st person animations or playable form. That means modders would have to create a completely new first-person model with new first-person animations for every weapon the player can hold. Next is creating new 3rd person animations for every armor ability, vehicle and weapon. Then you need to actually add that in the code. It’s not just a matter of animations, we must also let the code know about the changes we want to make. And Reach’s engine is hard to work with (the reason why 343 is making the Slipspace engine = to make it easier to develop).

Can it be eventually possible? I’d say yes. But not after a long while. Unlike CE, we’re not using the tools the devs used to make the game, we’re using someone else’s, which makes it much more difficult (plus CE’s engine is a lot simpler, which is why SPV3 was possible).

I know, and it is worrying. Season 6 is almost upon us and there is still nothing new for Elites in a collection where they are playable in 4 games out of the 7 in the collection. And we already know that there is no Elite content in the new season.

And I have to wonder why there is a hold-up with skins for Brute weapons or vehicles. The Chopper is a popular vehicle in Halo 3, and is one of three vehicles in that game which don’t currently have skins: Chopper, Wraith, and Prowler. Both the Ghost and Banshee now have about 3 skins apiece, and all the UNSC vehicles have skins (I believe the Hornet might be getting a skin in Season 6), so it seems unusual that the Chopper is lacking a skin. Is it because it only appears in two maps? I don’t think so. If I remember correctly, the Gauss Hog is only on Last Resort, yet it has 2 skins already. Yes, they may add them later, but my question is, how much later is “later”? We are coming up to Season 6 after all, and for the moment only 10 seasons are planned. And again, Season 6 probably won’t have them, which leaves 4 more seasons, but note that people want the remaining seasons to focus on other games in the collections, and rightly so!

I mean I never said it would be easy or perfect. I’m just saying that if someone really wanted to take the time and effort to do it, then it could probably be done. I’m pretty sure I’ve already seen mods that feature playable brutes in 3rd person, so if it came down to playing in 3rd person then I’d be down

Ikr. There better be some elite armor in those seasons, but I have a bad feeling there won’t be. We still have 3 confirmed seasons left tho, so hopefully. If not, then there really is no hope for us in 343.

As for the brute weapons/ vehicles, maybe there’ll be a brute themed season closer to infinites release since the main enemy is the banished.

Cool customisation for elites that could be added, the moon crescent helmet variant from CE, the mining gear of the Halo 2 Heretics, honor guard, Halo 2 ranger.

Part if the reason I’m playing more and more other games besides halo is because of the lack of playable elites. Everyday I find myself more drawn to Destiny, or Skyrim opposed to 343’s Halo games.

Now I’m even less excited for Halo Infinite, in fact, I might not even get it when it comes out. I’ll get it when it’s not new so the price drops down. My hype for the game has simply died, it’s not even fully open world, only partly. So you can throw enemies off the Ring, I would choose playable elites over that any day.

I’m tired, tired of saying this to 343 over and over again. I’ve just given up on them, they will never put playable elites in any Halo game, and they will never give elites new cosmetics in MCC, I doubt they’re even going to give elites their own game type.

Gone are the days of Bungie, when they ran the Halo franchise. Gone are the days that every elite fan wasn’t worrying about whether elites would be playable in the upcoming halo. Gone are the days that every multiplayer matchmaking Halo game was about esports, and had unbearable SBMM. Gone are the days that you can just have fun with your friends, none of them caring about whether you played as an elite or not. And finally, gone are the days that I would give up all hope for playable elites, or any level of good customization like Spartans.

Hmmm, Halo Infinite Delayed again?

Sometimes I really wonder if it had to do with Fan backlash or was it truly covid-19? Well with this Delay, tho I’m not expecting it anymore, I hope Elites do appear. but my guess, is no.

That is, unless that’s an April Fools prank.

> Now I’m even less excited for Halo Infinite, in fact, I might not even get it when it comes out. I’ll get it when it’s not new so the price drops down. My hype for the game has simply died, it’s not even fully open world, only partly. **So you can throw enemies off the Ring , I would choose playable elites over that any day.**I’m tired, tired of saying this to 343 over and over again.

I love how that’s one of the development highlights HAHA. Like what’s the difference gonna be from that and tricking a wraith to boost off a cliff in reach? A different skybox?

The thing that just can’t bring me to like 343 is their difference in attitude towards creating games. Bungie seemed to focus on the fun factor and universe as a whole. Yea chief and humanity were the focal point, but things like elites and other aspects of the halo universe weren’t neglected. Now comes 343. Their hyper- focus on competitiveness and anything humanity is just bland and boring.

No, a tweet was made from an unverified and fake account. Kotaku ran with it without checking anything and had to issue a retraction,
Halo Infinite is still set to release this fall

Haha, what a rollercoaster that was. Glad such an announcement was made in such a way

thanks for the clarification. I was actually getting a bit worried.

Woah, what a funny meme. GG Kotaku.

I don’t see any further clarity coming about it for the time being - they’ve said they won’t be at launch but haven’t ruled them out as future content. There’s nothing much else they need to clarify right now

And why wouldn’t there be playable Elites at launch in this so-called spiritual reboot?
> > > > > > >
> > > > > > > I know halo infinite campaign will be the story of master chief fully support it but when it comes to multiplayer iam sick, tired and bored of 343 obsession of spartans esport (everything must be competitive) crap. I really hate how they try and Canon multiplayer I can pull it a part easy how flawed it is. If spartans are in simulation trying to be better fighters then tell me why are they killing fellow spartans when the elites and brutes are more of threat to the universe and who will they most likely will engage at
> > >
> > > I would love to see playable Brutes added to Halo 2, 3 and Reach in the MCC! But…343 aren’t going to do it, are they? We don’t even know yet if the Brute weapons and vehicles in Halo 3 will be getting skins. Pity…at least for Halo 3, I believe a lot of the necessary animations (for playable Brutes) are there already.
> >
> > I’m sure they’ll add skins for brute weapons and vehicles later, but probably not playable brutes. Skins on weapons are just skins at the end of the day. But their attitude towards playable anything else that’s not a human over the years just makes me believe that they won’t sadly. Like it’s season 6 in mcc and we don’t even have any new elite armor. I’m all for having playable brutes alongside elites though. Imagine all the banished elite and brute armor they could add.
>
>

Wait hold on a SECOND! did you say we are getting new elite stuff for the next season? when? where did you hear this? I want to know.

EDIT: Sorry I misread your post.

Yeah that does suck.

If 343 wants to prove us they haven’t forgoten us, Season 7 of MCC needs to be elite season. And if they want to make sure we fully understand we shouldn’t hope, give spartans tartarus’ shoulder plate with a elite skull attached to it and call the challenge required to unlock it elite season.

I’m not sure that giving us Tarturus’ shoulder plate with an elite skull screams elite season for me, kinda sounds more like death to the elites instead (for me personally). Literally any kind of variation for Elite armours in Halo 2 or 3 and I’ll be happy for the time being - we just need some love.
