Playing Halo over the years I had gotten into competitive game play. I loved the competitive scene of Halo 3. Elites weren’t allowed due to weird hit structure. Especially from the back. So for competitive, I’d use a spartan. 99.9% of the time I was an elite, and no one minded.

Or, while keeping balanced base stats, keep the scales and a negative side to playing an elite would be a slightly larger hit box. (I wouldn’t mind, and if playable elites are as desired as they seem, I don’t think many others would either.)

However later down the line, maybe a year after launch, bringing elites back can be possible. Hopefully more like Halo 2 and 3 rather than reach. Adding elites requires 343 to make an animation for EVERY weapon, and equipment in first and 3rd person. Changing the scale of their model can be troublesome to keep proportions. I’m well aware it wouldn’t be a super easy task, but hopefully over time we see them return.

> Whilst an interesting suggestion, I have to go with Exile on this one- any turning off feature will demean any work you put in to get these armours. I personally can’t imagine how mundane it is for Halo 3 players who turn off the new armours and skins and whatnot, although I guess I can because I’ve played Halo 3 in the past, and even after the amazing additions to it, I still find it boring because it’s outdated and slow paced, but I won’t get into my controversial views on Halo 3.

> Expression is important, by having an option that lets someone ignore your choices, you are taking that away from the player, furthermore, I think we all have to accept that we will never be able to make Elites and Spartans equally balanced in terms of what they can and cannot do, so the best option is to give one a particular advantage, and give one another advantage. Spartans are harder to hit because they are smaller, but Elites can be easily sniped- buff the shielding around Sangheili heads a little, so you at least don’t get picked first by a sniper who wants an easy kill. Maybe do something about the agility of both races- Sangheili evolved to do crazy stunts, so they can jump higher like in Reach, and any dodging ability in the game should work better for them, but Spartans have the advantage of being quicker- maybe they can…well honestly I don’t know, but my point is, the differences should be slight, but noticeable enough to make sure that both species can kill each other and so that we don’t just gravitate towards one race because it’s easier to kill.

> As someone else stated here before, competitive players are supposed to be able to handle any situation- if they cannot handle Elites in competitive, then they are not nearly as good as they claim to be. That’s my view on Elites in competitive, however I would accept being limited to social gamemodes, because honestly I would probably never play competitive if I could play as an Elite in social.
I understand your point completely. They are similar to mine. As someone who plays competitive halo (or has, not so much anymore) I would ONLY be bothered by the back of elites being harder to hit. However, like we said the elites are more upright. Its not an issue with Halo Infinite. The only issue is with modern competitive players. Now a days its never because you were defeated. More or less because something is unfair and needs balancing. Its taxing on the developers. When you compete in a video game, you compete in THAT game. You don’t complain about every feature you don’t like to get that game changed. I can understand of its a horribly unbalanced feature, but common things have been changed due to professional players complaining. Halo is so much more than just the competitive scene. I wish 343 would see that. Halo 3 succeeded in popularity because you, me, and almost anyone can pick up the game, hop into big team, and utilize the full sandbox of Halo. It was FUN. MCC is taking a better turn towards this in my opinion but keeping Halo fun for everyone is key.
Now along with this, in games like Halo 2 or Halo 3 it took individual skill to actually have an edge. My point for saying this is making the game fun, doesn’t mean making the game too easy. Thats what I personally thing bungie did well. Halo 5 is super easy in my opinion. Feels kind of like a different game. To not get into my views of Halo 5 and stay on topic, I mention all of this because Elites helped spread the fun and diversity to customization in the halo community. Even helped in some games that were kind of sweaty like callous. “Elite has shotgun”. As much as I miss playing competitive halo, I also miss having playable elites. Since I work too much to put the time in to be competitive again, I’d be okay with playing social game modes and being my elite.
Again, developers go through alot to give us entertaining content and I am appreciative of their hard work. I just don’t believe in taking fan favored features OUT of games.
