Bringing Elites back into gameplay, for me, is the final hurdle in the long marathon they’ve run to win the approval of the fandom. If there’s any time to do it, Infinite is that time.

Yeah I agree. I feel that there is something huge waiting for us, maybe in the summer. It is sick to see characters like Atriox being developed, because I’m always welcome to new things when they’re that interesting. While there’s really nothing more I want than playable Elites, I also say, “Why stop there?” People have been wanting Brutes alongside them, and I think that’s a great idea. I’d love to have my own custom Brute, because that’s something that hasn’t been done before. With all the customization options we’ve been seeing in Halo MCC (especially Halo 3 when Season 6 comes), I can clearly picture the options I have with Brute armor on the legs, arms, chest, shoulders and helmets. Giving the Elites that same level of love would be amazing as well. Infinite has a looooot riding on it, and I think going this hard on player customization would be a great way to unite the fans.

There is a game called Infinite that is just within our grasp, so by all means let us reach. I’d love to see San’Shyuum Prelates playable too, as I love them as a concept. Same with Jackals, Grunts, Hunters, Knights, this morning I had a thought for a huge battle game mode, somewhat like Warzone except even larger in scale, where you can play as nearly anything- Spartan, Elite, Brute, Prophet, Jackal, ODST, Marine, Knight, Soldier, whatever. Each have their own unique advantages and disadvantages- except for the sake of balancing everyone has energy shields, even if they shouldn’t in canon or whatever. Purely to make it so you can play as whatever you want but not be penalised for that choice- like maybe Elites have stronger armour around the head so we don’t just get one shotted by snipers who have a way too easy job of killing us, and Brutes have weaker shields but have a lot of damage resistance and health once they’re popped.

I thought about that too. Have you played GOW judgment? There is a game mode where on team is the COG and the other the locust. And the Locust have ranks, so for halo it would be like

They have months to work on Infinite until fall, plenty of time to realize playable elites should be included in the game. Best thing to do right now is to keep this thread going, and hope 343 listen to our pleas. 343 listen to the fans a LOT more than other gaming industries, I really think we have a shot at convincing them that playable elites should be included in Halo Infinite.

I actually thinking about something related to that. Y’know, 343 recently talked about co-op, and I was thinking maybe, just maybe, players 2, 3 and 4, can be like survivors on the ring. We know that there was a huuuuge fight above the ring and definitely on the ring itself, so it wouldn’t be farfetched to say that there would be survivors. So, players 2, 3 and 4 could be the Elite or Spartan that they play in multiplayer, with the canonical explanation being that they’re survivors from the fight against the Banished and the Created. This is a fairly new idea, so I’m open to have it built upon.

You could have Swords of Sanghelios outposts scattered on the ring. It would be cool if you could go on quests for them in exchange for credits you can use at the Sangheili store to buy weapons, armor upgrades, and vehicles. If there was a side story in the Swords of Sanghelios bases, it would be pretty cool.

The three Co-op players should be their multiplayer Spartan or Elite. I can just see me and my friends fighting over who’s going to have to be first player!
An additional warthog, or transport-hog should be at Brohammer’s pelican so everyone can explore Zeta Halo together, everything’s more fun with a few friends.

That is so infuriating, and his response "Oh we wanted Infinite to be a “Master Chief” story a “Spartan” story. It’s such -Yoink-, Halo 4 and 5 were “Spartan” stories, were they not enough? And him saying “Never say never” it has been a decade since we saw elites playable in a mainline game, and 3 of those major games 343 has made, they have not included Elites. I swear, there has to be a group of people in 343 that hate Elites and refuse to let them be playable, that is the only explanation as to why they won’t bring them back, despite how many people want them. It’s been how many years, 343? How many years has it been since y’all ignored this huge chunk of the player base? The reason there’s no playable Elites, is because you wanted the campaign to be about a guy we always get forced down our throat? Everyone loves Chief, but come on, to use him as a tool to say, “Hey we didn’t listen all these years later haha Warthog go brrr”, is honestly disrespectful. What you’re doing is genuinely disrespectful. The level of disappointment I have with this is so overwhelming, I can’t even explain it.

“Never say never” is NOT good enough, and to say that and have a smile on your faces like that’s okay, and then say you love Elites, it’s almost like you know how badly people are let down by that news and you got a kick out of it. How frustrating.

How hard is it to look at your fans, see something highly requested that had been taken away, and just add it back in.

It was a part of Halo from Halo 2 to Reach. Only until 4 did they remove playable Elites for a garbage canon reason. People asked them if they could add Elites back, they ignored them with 5. People got more frustrated and asked once again and even though they were acknowledged this time, the devs simply didn’t care despite the fact they have had 10 years of input from the community on it.

It’s the same cycle over and over:

“Hey devs, great stuff, but we really didn’t like X or Y, you think you could improve that or remove them in the next game?”

“Hey fans, great stuff you had to say. Now, I’m going to ignore that which you said and do my own thing and then be in utter shock when you don’t like the result.”

This is the reason people are losing their patience and are starting to get mean and rude about it. It’s almost been 10 years of this cycle and it. Just. Gets. Old.

How many years went into us asking and pleeding only to have us be ignored? Of course we’re going to be upset and perhaps protest the decision 343 made. It’s a natural response, and quite frankly a warranted one.
