Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

Agreed, but ranked players aren’t what I would call interested in having that thing we would call fun. I’m kidding of course (well, maybe I’m being just a little real) but honestly I kind of need a few game modes where I can’t play as an Elite, because if I was able to play as one then I know I’d never go to play as a Spartan instead so it would be nice to have a few game modes that let me give my Spartan some mileage.

Also, I highly doubt ranked players would ever play a Sangheili ranked gamemode, but whatever, it doesn’t really matter to me as ranked is so unimportant to my experience as a Halo player outside of Invasion.

nah, I would never choose spartan over Sangheili and would never want to. If I playd ranked, I would play as a Sangheili 100% of the time.

The point I’m more so making is if they’re going to have two or three playable species in Halo Infinite, surely they should all have an equal amount of game time to utilise the worth of those created assets. If they create loaaaaaaads of customisable options for elites but you’re not including them in the ranked game modes, there’s not much point having the customisation there for them because they’re not present in a large percentage of the multiplayer game. Whereas if you have ranked Elite slayer where everyone is elites, there’s still no advantage/disadvantage because everyone’s hitboxes are the same, which was always the main point of discussion regarding elites in multiplayer.

It just kinda sucks that if elites come back, I’d still have to be forced to play as a Spartan in ranked game modes. Having species only ranked game modes fixes that issue (in my mind anyway!)

or you just balance them so they have strengths and weaknesses likee halo reach so they are balanced and everything is good.

Spartans and Sangheili each have their own advantages over each other in Reach and could not share a ranked gamemode due to that imbalance.

hrm… I disagree, there could be ways to make it work. if they don’t do that then their needs to be a Sangheili ranked mode. I still think that in casual, Sangheili and maybe even brutes (If they are playable) should have different strengths and weaknesses.

Sangheili should be on the same EXACT level as Spartans in Multiplayer. Anybody here know Gears of War? Specifically Gears 4 and 5? Now granted. Totally different game however I can make the comparison. Armored Kantus, Palace Guard, General Raam, and many human characters are of all different shapes and sizes and widths.

Argo, they all have the same hitbox and are scaled down. I never understood why ranked players don’t like Elites. And for what? Do people not realize that apart of being a PRO player is about doing whatever it takes to win while doing it in style? I’m serious. Pure skill and intelligence. We should not be separating Elites and Spartans using the idea that somehow Elites can’t work in ranked because that is absolutely not true. I do agree however that in Comp and Ranked that Elites should not be inter-mixed with Humans. But most of the CORE playlist’s SHOULD but probably won’t be, like Halo 3 and Halo 2. Where, for the most part, you should be allowed to be Elite OR Human in most game modes which include but may not be limited too:

Slayer
FFA
Grifball
Infection
Invasion
etc…

I do want to clarify though there is nothing wrong with having a ranked match with Elite vs Elite though. If a pro can’t play as an Elite AND a Spartan, than they are not a pro. That is a purely idiotic ideology to have.

Most people don’t really want a straight up Reach copy cat cause that separated Elites way to much in the multiplayer and that was mainly because of how they designed them in Reach. Meaning if they simply scale them down, stand them more upright and give them the same features as a Spartan but a more Sangheili theme (Simply redesigned them like they did in Infinite), Argo things could work perfectly as much as it humanly possibly can.

Now I think about it, you’re absolutely right, if they can’t deal with Elites, they aren’t the pros that many see themselves as in the slightest (you can tell I’m taking every opportunity to make digs at typical ‘pro players’, but don’t worry if any of you are big on ranked, it’s all a joke…well most of it is) but for real you make a real good point, and the same goes for Brutes. I’m just saying that I personally may need one or two gamemodes to give my Spartan some time because I love Elites (and just aliens in general) too much to be seen not playing as one if I could as an option.

Unfortunately, I think some of the biggest reasons we haven’t had our warriors from another planet being playable is because of ranked players complaining, particularly about Halo 3’s system and if you take a look at the backlog of this entire thread, you’ll see a lot of those kinds of people bringing up points that we shut down time and time again, but still held regardless. I think that purely to placate these players, you need to just give them their space where it’s all human and no fun. It may sound a little harsh but I don’t feel like the most vocal among them can really be convinced, so I say we may just have to let them be when it comes to ranked.

I agree.

P.S. this is my 200th post, I ranked up!!

Should elites be playable in Infinite, do you guys think they should have some unique options for customisation? Such as eye colour, facial scars, missing/robotic mandibles etc. I think it would be a shame to miss out on those smaller details, especially after 343i showing us concept art of Jega 'Rdomnai.

OH HECK YES

I mean the solution is to do what Halo Reach did literally orherwise we’re looking at H3

Spartans can recharge the shield faster by picking up a health pack, what are the chances of the extra everything of Elites granting a win in comparison ?

That’s assuming the Spartan is being chased and find a health pack around a corner plus just enough time to fully recharge.

A race for a power weapon, the maps are never large enough (and lacking a way to actually fast travel) to let the speed boost shine, at best the Elite is first and the Spartan is about to lose him, on the opposite the Elite is still closer but not on the weapon yet and the Spartan can already engage him and cover what they came for.

The jump I can’t see it.

The health, nearly worthless if precision weapons (gotta land the bullet on the head) are used and barely otherwise (the squares won’t take a lot) .

Heck no. As much as I’d love for Elites be back again, introducing strengths/weaknesses would be extremly detrimental.
One of Halos core aspects are equal starts and this should always be the highest priority.
Stuff like that, as fun as it sounds, should be kept for spin offs.

I guess but it ain’t realistic, sangheili have many strengths over spartans…

For gameplay’s sake, Halo shouldn’t follow lore. If that was the case, we could have never enjoyed elites in Halo 2 & 3.

Sangheili in Halo 2 were best, halo 3 they were chunky and wack

Realism is the worst thing that you can force into a game. Your priority should be making it fun over anything else. Realism only comes second.
Besides, if we want to go by the “realistic” route, then gameplay could be either really boring or really confusing. Spartans, for example, have a ridiculous reaction time, only enhanced by Smart AIs. And to go along with that, they also have lightning fast reflexes, they could probably catch a bullet with their fingers if they tried. Point is: Spartans could have impossibly fast gameplay, doing actions that would be far too fast for the regular Human eye to follow and appreciate, a speed that the Sangheili would lack, putting them at a ridiculous and unfair disadvantage.

I prefer elites visually in Halo 2 and CE. Elites in Halo 3 were very distinct gameplay-wise, being harder to head shot and more susceptible to automatic weapons.
