I would cite one perfect example of male and female alien warrior species being distinct from each other as the Turians in Mass Effect- they’re clearly more feminine, but aren’t hyper-sexualised for the sake of fulfilling fantasies of certain kinds of fans. Now I’ll be honest, I don’t really know what I want female Sangheili to look like, but I know that I want to see a clear distinction- it shows evidence of caring about attention to detail and making the Halo universe feel like something that’s complete. You may say that’s using human science to talk about science fiction, newsflash: that’s how science fiction is made. I just find it a lazy excuse to not show us female Sangheili in all their glory and treat them with as much respect as males by distinguishing them. It just makes sense to me to show clear differences- even if it is something minor like perhaps the curvature of the mandibles, or the way that their eyes and snout line up with each other.

It would really suck to be reduced to a simple ‘oh but we can role play female Sangheili’ scenario. That’s like role playing Sangheili as a whole with Helioskrill armour on Halo 5. It may work for some and I respect it if you can do it honestly, but let’s be real, it’s a real downgrade on what we could have.

> How is it lazy? Make them slimmer and more girly like. That isn’t enough for you? You want them to have -Yoink!- too? I mean seriously? Their reptiles mate. They would look practically like Men but simply slimmer and serine as well as having a female like voice. I mean look what Kung Fu Panda did with their animal like characters. They kept it realistic. Which in my opinion looks better. Has nothing to do with being lazy dude.
Slimmer and more girly is what I would want at the very least, but I literally said I didn’t want them sexualised. I just want them to be distinct. And then after talking about breasts you basically just went on to describe everything that I already said I wanted. But yes, it is kinda lazy to just throw the exact same model at us and be like ‘female elites guys’. I want them to be recognisably different, that’s all.

> Good sir, using biology, we can figure out that female and male Sangheili are very similar in appearance. It isn’t Lazy, It is using real world biology to determine what they would look like. and In Sangheili Culture, Female Sangheili don’t fight in wars, it just doesn’t happen, so that is why we never see them.
Yes, similar is fine, but identical is just really not it for me. I want female Sangheili to be distinguishable from males. That doesn’t mean I want them to be hyper-sexualised tumblr art creatures, I just want them to look different enough from the males so that we can tell them apart. It’ll make me feel like real care has been put into really refining what we’re seeing in game and it would honestly just be cool. I don’t see why it’s so difficult to understand that what I’m saying is really quite simple and mild when you think about it.
The Swords of Sangheilios started enlisting women as of the events of Shadow and Intent so that last statement would be correct were we still talking about the Covenant. Culturally of course they still don’t but now they are at least allowed to now.
It would also be real nice to get little snippets of how male Sangheili in game react to females serving- of course it would’ve been like this for years by Infinite’s setting but I have no doubts that we could hear some NPC dialogue of some showing both praise and disdain for it. It would also be really cool to see Tul ‘Juran and just how different her armour is to the Arbiter’s.
I’m also interested in the fact that we should be getting fully customisable Reach elites in MCC one of these days. While I’m not sure if that means we’ll be able to customise them all the way down to the nitty and gritty like having Ranger gloves on a Field Marshal or having red armour lights on a spec ops, this is certainly a step in the right direction for us, and perhaps it may show that they are paying attention to Elites and are not neglecting us.
Now if only we’d get Reach game modes where we can play as Elites alongside Spartans instead of just Invasion…

but the thing is, They aren’t very different. maybe different skin tones would make sense but their basic shape is practically identical.

They’re not reptiles, because they’re not from Earth. They’re aliens with reptilian traits, making them xenoreptilian. So Bungie could’ve had females look like anything and it would be fine because they don’t have to follow the rules of reptiles. But that aside, I prefer what we have in lore, which is that females are just slimmer, curvier, and have lighter skin tones.

yes… I don’t think curvier, just slimmer… but it has been a long time since I have read The Broken Circle so…

WW2 is literally referenced by Cortana in her logs. If you ever use to watch videos on the old Halowapoint app from the 360. Made up yes but it’s still our universe set in the future. All human discoveries from our time are in Halo. I don’t understand how you don’t get that?

Didn’t halo 5 has one Female among the warriors? I’m pretty sure you hear her over the coms. It’s uncommon, but still I’d be cool, especially for machinima sake too.

Halo 5, indeed, had a female warrior. Actually, she’s the pilot of the Phantom that takes Osiris to Sanghelios. She spoke to them and delivered them Mantises. Vale even comments on the matter.

As for her being a pilot I did not know that part it’s been awhile since I played H5 I might want to give that mission another go sometime. I’m also just dying to have a Playable Elites tease or reveal.

Oh yes. It would ruin the game if they weren’t in there. Sangheili are best.

Personally I don’t think Halo will survive if they continue to cut all the communities that existed up to Halo Reach. Customization, Machinima, Clans, Sangheili, UNSC, Forge, Custom Games, Fire Fight, Theater mode, and E-Sports. They need to somehow land at least these 10 things for it to have the best chances of Survival.
Yes, Female Sangheili are serving as soldiers to answer you. The events of Shadow of Intent make this a new policy for the Swords of Sangheilios. There’s not really any need to go further on the matter of whether it canonically makes sense to.
I say give people options. Options are good, we are literally talking about a game called Halo: INFINITE after all, considerable emphasis on ‘Infinite’, which is more reason why it only makes sense for Elites to be playable.

Been a while since I’ve commented, and this is seems like the current hot topic so I’ll give my two cents. Personally, I’m not sure where I stand on how a playable female Elite should look. I understand why people would want them to be more the way we’d kind of imagine them, which is to be similar to our human women. I also understand that others prefer them to be a bit more unique because they’re aliens. I mean, I guess I’d also want them to be similar to human women because the Sangheili men are already fairly similar to us human men, but I’m still 50/50. In Halo Legends, that incarnation of the Arbiter had a wife that was quite similar to our women, which from a design standpoint, actually looked great. That’s just me.
I’ve been thinking about the idea of playable female Elites, and I’m all for it personally. I’m not sure how their height should be handled though. You don’t want to have too many hit box differences between species and genders due to balance, but I don’t know.

Careful Arbiter, What you speak is Heresy!
halo Legends made me sick.
Also, Playable Sangheili need to have the same depth of customization as the spartans. It can’t be like Halo reach where the spartans have hundreds of customizations and The Sangheili literally have 7. That is dumb. they need the same level of customization with more armor designs.

They also shouldn’t be limited to just a couple of game modes. They should be playable in all Social playlists. They should be kept out of Ranked though
To be fair, I think elites should also be allowed in ranked, just make those game modes sangheili specific maybe. You choose a preferred species like in Halo Reach but you would still have armour sets for both Spartans and Elites to show off both.
