…You mean aside from being the saviors of Humanity? Maybe the fact that they are in fact the canonical characters with which to play. I beg to differ with your statement.

Sangheili are technically both of those things as well.

And if the Sangheili hadn’t started the war, it wouldn’t have been an issue.

it weren’t the sangheili, it was the covenant.
important difference.

And the Sangheili were the primary forces of the Covenant. They actively killed as many humans as possible. Not to mention that the Covenant was originally an agreement between Sangheili and San’Shyuum.

This has skittered away from my original question–what is the appeal to playing an Elite?

but, matter of fact, they were misguided by the san shyuum just like the other species from the covanent,
so I don’t see your point.
are you trying to look the sangheili like the “bad guys” of the covanent?

anyways, to answer your already answered question again,
for me & a lot of others, a heck load of others as you can see by the simple fact that this is the biggest & longest
permanently active thread on waypoint, it is for once our prefence for a lot of various reasons.
if it is lore, for the sake of variety or something else.
it any case, it just added something without taking anything away for those, who are not interested in sangheili.

“Bad guys”? No. I do, however, take objection to glossing over the role the Sangheili played because “OMG cool aliens”. I liked the way the Sangheili were written, I appreciate the Japanese roots. I liked the Arbiter immensely.

I just have never been able to understand the appeal of playing one. I came here to find that out.

Instead I get butthurt fanboys acting as apologists.

no offense, but if thas would be indeed the case, you could’ve simply just read through some the over 840 pages this thread has to offer.
questions like yours were asked & answered mutliple times over the lifetime of this thread.
since you didn’t, i suppose you’re not as interested in this matter as you try to seem.
but that’s none of my business.

I don’t have the five hours that would take. If it has indeed been answered multiple times, what’s one more?

Adding playable Sangheili back to multiplayer would:

  • Strengthen the Sangheili Community - Strengthen the Clan Community - Strengthen the Machinima Community - Strengthen Community as a Whole - Helps Halo Stand Out from Other GamesThis is the appeal they have.

This is all I was asking for.

No real gameplay differences than the Sangheili other than being bigger and maybe a tiny bit stronger melee but slower than a Sangheili. The various armour sets we see in the Cutscenes for the “DKs” intruiged me. Perhaps we could even see the armour the Rangers wear in the cutscenes replace the Storm Harness, as I feel it’s a “Bungie-ified” Storm Harness. What say you to this idea?

What do you mean by “remove the helmet”?

To never have to suffer the sight of it again… But seriously, I mean that I’d like to see them use the longer sleeker helmet like the ones in H2. The ones they used in the cutscenes of Hw2 seemed to be the storm-helmet, if Im not mistaken, the broad, short and -in my opinion atleast- ugly helmet.
Edit: whit the exception of the H2A helmets, those are just fine, I meant the helmets used when Jerome boards the enduring conviction.

If you wanted a reason my fellow Forum dweller, Playing as an elite is an exhilarating stimulus of the mind that we hold as pride, knowing that we are a diversified part of the community, playing as the aliens are a -Yoinking!- awesome way to implement a feeling of diversity and, well, just flat out badassery!

I got this, because back when we played 10,000 custom games on Halo Reach, each one, I’d be an elite
The multiplayer was all spartans and that didn’t bother me, because every once in a while, I’d drag them to invasion, and sometimes they’d be in the mood for it!
It’s a pride, and it gives a feeling of role playing that being the same as everyone else, in the way of species, can’t give
No matter how many times I wear the Helioskrill Armour in Halo 5, I will never get my same interesting in being taller, and a bigger target, of course,
But being different!
A DIFFERENT kind of soldier!
We all love elites, and sometimes, it’s a gigantic turn off if multiplayer excludes that ability to play as an elite, when it was such a beautiful edition, and a widely used (Widely is a loose term) feature in the old games, Halo Reach being the newest, and controversially, the best iteration of Playable Elite Potential.
People will argue that we need the complex and needed armour customization of Halo 3 in the Elites.
People Will Argue that we need a balance between wanting to be bigger than Spartans, like in Halo Reach, or as tall, like in Halo 3.
And even People like me will argue that customization passed armour would be widely loved, like being able to play different Phenotypes of Elites, the new desert scaly type, as well as the black leather types from Halo Reach and 3.

So, I don’t like leaving people out, we should all be able to customize our armours how we want, and play at which height would weren’t unsuitable for competitive play, or just good enough for Invasion.

Playable Elites are pride of knowing that we are different, that we get to play as a badass species that isn’t humanity and spartan armour, and, perhaps the most important part I haven’t mentioned yet.

It’ll show that 343 is listening

Does that answer your question?

That answers my question beautifully, sir.

That was certainly not the Storm Harness. And besides, why not just include all types of Helmets. There are only like 40 that we know of.

This is the biggest thread ever and since on youtube my name is A Random Elite. I gotta say plz 343 we need playable elites back, and put em into h6s version of warzone

Well there may be people who do like the Storm Helmet. I know most of us don’t but if we don’t include it, then we’re just as bad as the people who want to see Playable Elites never return. Thus why I see this as a “Bungie-Ified” Storm Helmet.

I more implied the helmet. It does seem very similar in my eyes, just with a Banished coat of paint.http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130418061702/deadliestfiction/images/a/ac/2620206-Halo-4-Elite-halo-30585551-1349-1920.jpgSign in - Google Accounts
