No, you’re wrong. They are definitely different subspecies. Even if that was just an excuse for a design change, it’s still Canon. If you don’t believe that the multiple subspecies thing is Canon, here is a little proof. Scroll down to the second question asked.

> Although I never play as elites, and have a running joke of calling people who play as elites traitors, I couldnt even begin to fathom halo without them. They’re are part of what made halo, halo, and it’d be a shame if they didn’t return. Halo needs the Elites as much as it needs the spartans.

Same here I’m not a big fan of the elites either but definitely they are a essential part of the saga

It just made the clan community more interesting. More diversity as well. Screw the bitter grudges between clans etc. I just want the freedom to play as both a spartan and a sangheili

Of course there’s multiple subspecies, but it doesn’t quite prove the explanation for the Elite design. Like Arbiter? He has the new design as well. If he’s written off as a new subspecies, people are going to get pissed, because it had nothing to do with the character. And might I add this. Where. Is. SHIPMASTER?

> Yeah I do agree with the Dave’s Anniversary criticism. They did look quite exposed, but for the most part, they were pretty classic. It was a nice breath of fresh air from the AWFUL Halo 4 & 5 Elites. As a HUGE Elite fan, both games really really really annoyed me. Like, when I first saw them, I had to take a break. But when Anniversary came out? Maaaaan, it was such a relief. I hope that if these designs for the Elites (well for all other races, really) come back, that they do at least give the scale armor, and that they do cover up the neck more. And yeah, I want Arbiter’s new armor, but only with Thel in his classic design. They can do it. And yeah, that whole “different phenotype” thing is an excuse to cover up the awful new 343 design. Like, I’m fine if they even bring in a Halo Reach Elite design, because while they were bigger, it did make them more accurate in size. They were still quick, they still had a great body shape, and they still had their elegance. Though, they need to fix the Reach faces a bit. Not a bunch, just a bit. They need that skin that you could reeeeally see in Anniversary. Other than that, I’d be fine with the Reach design.

Agreed, I see a lot of potential in the H2A elites, and if anything, HW2 actually corrected a few things, (my critisism from the past still remain to an extent, their necks and hands are still exposed after all) for instance, how they have sheer armor over their belly’s -wich I truly apreaciate- and they also got (forgot to mention this) elbow protection. Oh, and also, the elite enforcers, man was I glad to see elites carrying heavy ordanance once more, I haven’t seen elites -well, REAL looking elites- do that since reach!

Oh yeah, I can’t believe I forgot the Halo Wars 2 design o_o! As a matter of fact, I bought the Arbiter DLC yesterday, and boy do I agree with your enforcer statement. The Elite enforcers do bring me back to the Reach days. And, since this is a topic on the much needed playability of Elites in Multiplayer (and Campaign also, please), I was thinking about something. If 343 listens to us further (please do), and if they’re reading my current statement, can you guys PLEASE put in more variety in Elite armor? I mean, every other Halo game that had playable Elites (except H3 which had the same type of customization options for both Spartans and Elites) has had stiff variety in armor customization. I’m hoping Halo 6 brings in the Reach armor customization, and also gives Elites more interchangeable armor options like the Spartans got in Halo Reach. Elite customization has been basic, so it would be nice to finally be able to change out the helmet, shoulders, torso, forearms, and legs in Halo 6.

Hey! Let’s try to stay on topic guys! Playable Elites, start a new thread if you want to talk about the new design.

> Hey! Let’s try to stay on topic guys! Playable Elites, start a new thread if you want to talk about the new design.

I supose you’re right, however this is the biggest thread on waypoint, so this where we realy can make our voices heard about elites, things like, how weak the HW2 elites look, (well, did look, until the enforcers arrived)
Or about how ballistically -protectionwise- lacking the elites armour has been since H2A. And since we want playable elites, we want them as good as possible yes?

The best elites are the ones un Reach. This goes for armour, game play, AI behaviour, how they’re depicted and fact you can play as them. What Halo 6 needs is a separate Elite campaign as well as customizable, playable elites. I also think that the armour in Halo 5 isn’t as cool as it should be. It looks to flimsy and looks like it doesn’t provide adequate protection for the user. I also think the Elite AI needs to be more aggressive and much more agile.

Yeah, I agree with that. Like, I think an Elite campaign would reeeeeally attract us Elite players if that was an option. Not only could it bring in playable Elites, but it can once again show what they go through like how Halo 2 did for Arbiter and his Elites. I’m sure we wouldn’t mind at all seeing a campaign for Arbiter. But yeah. I feel like the only way the Elite armor and customization can be cool, is if we get the classic design. It would be awkward to see classic returning armor pieces from let’s say Halo 3, on these new giants of Elites. And again, the only way we can PROPERLY see agile and aggressive Elites is through the classic design, because it would be so awkward to see these beasts jumping around with energy swords or plasma rifles. And as far as the Reach statement, I agree with that also. Like, once again, if they just fix up the faces and skin texture, the Reach design on Elites would be really cool. They were bigger, yeah, but that made them more accurate. They weren’t huge like the new Elites, they were nice and slim and extremely agile and aggressive. Imagining Thel with a Reach design is actually really interesting to me.

Considering that they are listening to fans lets hope Elites do come back for MP.

I agree with you about the Reach Sangheili looking slimmer and more agile. You have to remember that in the story though, the Sangheili people are really struggling with their civilization, and so naturally their armor would be somewhat worse than when they were in the old Covenant. Same goes with their new vehicles and stuff, it’s all sangheili technology and the poor things can barely properly feed their families thanks to all that’s happened to them in recent years.

As far as design goes, it’s tricky to me. The old design from Halo 2, and Halo 3 was perfect. They looked large enough to make them killing a Spartan believable, but not too large to where they wouldn’t be able to run. The Reach design, to me, wasn’t good. I feel like it didn’t represent the Sangheili well enough, and it made them look more like mindless beasts than honor-bound warriors. I do, and don’t kill me, really like the Halo 4 and Halo 5 design. It’s a perfect compromise. They’re as large as they’re supposed to be (7-9 feet), they don’t look too animalistic, just alien, and they can really manuever themselves as seen when Thel cut down two Storm Elites. That’s just my opinion though.

> Considering that they are listening to fans lets hope Elites do come back for MP.

Yeah that’s true. They have shown they’re starting to listen with the splitscreen announcement they made for the next installment. Seeing how big this thread is on Waypoint, I’m sure we may have caught their attention. They listened to our art style request for Halo Wars 2 and took us back to the old school design. They even mixed it up with the new design and made some vehicles and units have roles in combat based on their design. So let’s hope we get our playable Elites with the classic design and a fair customization system.

I think the HW2 elites were smashing. They look like the H2A elites that represented them pretty well.
I’d like too see more of the BloodBlade elite’s armor in Halo, because that’s my favorite looking one I’ve seen, ever. (If you don’t know what I’m on about, it’s the one that was going to execute Atriox in his trailer)

Also, I think it would be really interesting to see a ‘normal’ elite wearing zealot.

Well lucky you, that Executioner is getting his own story in the Rise of Atriox comic.

yeah i don’t get why Arbiter changed. Rtas 'Vadum is out there somewhere.

Exactly. And yeah he’s out there, but I was hoping to see him with Arbiter in Halo 5. Hopefully he comes back with the classic design along with the other Elites, because ugh…

He’s off killing what remains of the prophets, apparently lol.
