I see what you’re getting at, but if anything the elites were lot more gracefull -if you wan’t to call it that- in Reach rather than 4/5, in their moves that is, at least in my opinion. But overall, I never realy liked -and still don’t- the 4/5 elites, they don’t look like elites to me. Either way, Im glad you can enjoy something I can’t. Still, the 4/5 elites acted like bafoons in some of the cutscenes.
And that goes for the Halo wars 2 elites aswell, and -if I may rant a little- Is it just me? Or was Let 'Volir acting Atriox’s -Yoink- in that one cutscene? Like he just sat there and took it?

I’m pretty sure that was on purpose. Let Volir is working for Atriox and I think he also fears him somewhat.

Ok, now that Im a bit calmer, and not throwing a childish temper tantrum, I do like the idea that Let 'Volir fears Atriox, but I wish that he would stand up for him self in that cutscene, maybe like in H2, whit Rtas, …“I only wish to express, my concern, that the brutes”-!
“Recomishing the guard was a radical step; but reasent events have made ubungdently clear, the elites, can no longer guarantee our safety”.
“I shall… relay, your… decision, to the counsle”.
That kinda thing.

I don’t know why people compare them to brutes either. If you scale them up correctly the h4/5 elites have the exact same proportions as the h2a elites seen here.

Hm, I guess you’re right, but my favourite elites will alway be the H3 elites. That is, in the cutscenes, not in gameplay where they were so hunched over.

The Halo 3 Elites were great, yeah. They look especially spectacular in the Halo 2 Anniversary cutscenes and even in multiplayer or single player gameplay. I don’t understand why 343 has abandoned the playable Elites, because most people enjoyed them. I’m hoping the Elites make a return in Halo 6 with the classic design. And not just as a playable race in multiplayer, but even the campaign. Arbiter had great armor in Halo 5, but he was so huge and brolic. That goes against how Elites are usually portrayed, and it hurt especially seeing my favorite character Thel Vadam looking so gross.

I don’t understand some peoples concern that playing as Sangheili would be “unfair”. I mean, if you’re honestly that worried about playing against a character taller than you, you probably just suck at Halo. Now, I can see how it may pose some controversy what with 343’s new view on “completely balanced competitive multiplayer”, but in that case make it 100% Spartan only for SWAT and HCS game playlists. In every other, make Elites playable. I understand that it’s hard from a development standpoint, but 343 has complete permission to take 5 or 6 months longer to incorporate playable Sangheili. We have Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 to sate us until 6. Take the time to please ALL your fans.

It’s so easy for 343 to just ignore us and take the easy route, and not incorporate playable Sangheili. I just hope they take a closer look at Halo 2 and Halo 3 and see that truly, it’s worth the extra mile.

I completely agree. People who complain about the hitbox are probably the same people who get Bronze 1 in ranked.

Let me rephrase.

I understand the fact that there would be a size difference, and that it would make things a little bit harder for the spartans (other than the fact that the Sangheili are twice their size and thus twice easier to hit) but at the same time, you really can’t complain, since most of us have killed many, many Sangheili in Halo history during Campaign. Also, people keep referencing that Elites are harder to hit from behind because of their hunched backs, but the “new” subspecies doesn’t hunch over during combat nearly as much as in Halo 3 or even Reach.

> There are many times throughout the franchise that elites teamed up with spartans: Halo 2, 3, and 5 all come to mind. I think it would be enough to say some of these elites maintained their allegiance to humans and participate in the simulations for training purposes. Calling them “AI bots” would make them lifeless and less meaningful, IMO.

Agreed. If I’m playing as a Sangheili, I want to be flesh and blood.

Following the release of MCC, I was relieved to know that 343 did offer variants of playable elite armor for Halo 2: Anniversary. Seeing as 343 added this, I expected playable elites in Halo 5, and yet, was left yet again feeling empty as I did during the release of Halo 4. Though I have a very critical opinion of the new elite design 343 has been implementing in their games (H4 and H5), I still would graciously accept the ability to choose between a Spartan IV and a Sangheili as I was able to do in Bungie’s Halo 2, 3, and Reach. I honestly don’t know why 343 refuses to add them in, as they don’t (in my opinion) cause any serious issue within the gameplay or community. I really hope 343 industries listens to all of their fans, which include the Sangheili Community, and not just the average non-lore loving halo player, who started with the 343 trilogy as their first halo games.

Yeah, heres to hoping for playable H3 elites! In all seriousnes though, if arbiters new armor is here to stay: please change him back to his original body, (H2A preferbly) I can’t look at him in Halo 5 and say "Here we have THE -‘the’ as in Thel Vadam- Arbiter.
However what I don’t like whit the H2A elites (in the campaign) is what they’re lacking: Their hands are compleatly exposed, they have no armor at all over belly, no scale armor like 3 or reach over the belly, their necks are also compleatly exposed, wich make it look like their helmets could fall off any second, and of course- they have dem real tiny feet. They look too reliant on shields, whit little to no ballistic protection

That goes against how Elites are usually portrayed, and it hurt especially seeing my favorite character Thel Vadam looking so gross.

I think all elites will change back to the original body, people can say their different phenotypes all they want but what it really is, is a design change, like MCs armour from 3-4, 343 tried to make them more big and scary which is fair enough but off course a lore explanation is needed behind every change instead of just saying we spruced them up abit, for example in halo reach the elites are clearly different but they are not a different type.

The variety created by being able to play as different races was an amazing feature, even if they had different models, and therefore different hit-boxes.

Yeah, like the size change doesn’t mean we would be worse off also. Just give us a bit more speed and shields, and we’re all good.

I mean they’re bigger and meatier than Reach Elites and in the blue team Cut scene it had one that kind of lumbered around. But they don’t really look like brutes, they don’t really move like brutes, and as far as I’ve seen they don’t act like brutes. They just seem like bigger and some what slower Elites. And in gameplay they’re never shown as slower.

Yeah I do agree with the Dave’s Anniversary criticism. They did look quite exposed, but for the most part, they were pretty classic. It was a nice breath of fresh air from the AWFUL Halo 4 & 5 Elites. As a HUGE Elite fan, both games really really really annoyed me. Like, when I first saw them, I had to take a break. But when Anniversary came out? Maaaaan, it was such a relief. I hope that if these designs for the Elites (well for all other races, really) come back, that they do at least give the scale armor, and that they do cover up the neck more. And yeah, I want Arbiter’s new armor, but only with Thel in his classic design. They can do it. And yeah, that whole “different phenotype” thing is an excuse to cover up the awful new 343 design. Like, I’m fine if they even bring in a Halo Reach Elite design, because while they were bigger, it did make them more accurate in size. They were still quick, they still had a great body shape, and they still had their elegance. Though, they need to fix the Reach faces a bit. Not a bunch, just a bit. They need that skin that you could reeeeally see in Anniversary. Other than that, I’d be fine with the Reach design.
