CALM DOWN EVERYONE! You really think that 343 are gonna scrap elites as playable characters all together!?
They clearly said this “Competitive multiplayer focuses on the Spartan IVs. Elites will not be playable”.
What they clearly meant that we will still have the strict option of forcing everyone to Spartans ONLY in competitive 4v4 multiplayer! Big-team battle, firefight (possible Spartan Ops), invasion and elite slayer will still use Elites!

Canon wise we do not have a reason to play as elites in multiplayer. Tell me, what purpose would it serve to have new Spartan IVs train as elites? How would that possibly benefit their training?
I will be willing to put money on the fact that 343i will not listen to this post at all. I signed anyway, but developers never seem to listen to what the people buying the game actually want.

if you look at right top of this picture it says <mark>Competitive</mark> play is only about Spartan IV’s
If Elites aren’t in Competitive and can’t be playable in other games like Social gametypes and Invasion or even just Custom games, Halo 4 will be that much less fun to me.

hehe, this is the same comment you made on my thread… And like i said, Invasion and firefight arent returning, and the complaints we would get from big team battle would be atrocious.
Spartan ops. Nuff said.
However i hope at least that they are in custom games.
I find the excuse that there are no Elites because they are in “a Spartan IV training program” pretty lame. It’s just multiplayer for crying out loud.
If you like super realistic games, to the point that you need an explanation as to why a team of red spartans are fighting against a team of blue spartans, then it must have been really hard growing up. Seeing all those games with hovering weapons (many SNES games), or the anti-gravitational floating blocks and flying turtles (Mario), or even the unspeakable infinite bullets (Contra).
It seems people don’t want to go out to the real world; instead, they want the real world to come to them. Meanwhile, others just want to get away from the real world.
Wow elites look terible. Really disappointed in 343i’s designs so far. Even grunts look limited. Why Bungie! Why have you left us!

Learning the strategies and weaknesses of their most powerful enemy doesnt beneift them at all? The elites are the most dangerous enemy the spartan have seen, so training with and against them would give them better tactics against elites, and show them easy ways to kill and out strategize them… Make sense?

You miss one hundered percent of the shots you never take. Therefore there is always hope in trying, even against impossible odds.
We can still dream, but honestly, not even a single word from 343. The biggest thread on waypoint (player made) didn’t even get a single reply from 343, hopefully this is just to keep info away, but I really don’t understand why not say from the start “you can’t blargh anymore”.
As I said, we need official word from 343 regarding all of this. Spartan points will probably be used to change multi-player so much that they decided to scrap using the Elites at all. But who knows, I heard so many people got angry at the Mass Effect ending and made huge petitions to change/add to it that made a company such a Bioware/EA think about it.
The Game isnt being released in 3 months and I heard they are still tinkering with it. If they hear a major outcry for the Elites to come back, they will hopefully please us in one way or another.
Those who just complain in a forum most likely wont be listened to. If we want change we need an actual media movement. To people to know that we want our beloved Elites back outside this forum.

I cannot imagine a game where elites aren’t playable… this is so much more than just 3 games with elites and 3 games with precursors because Elites have been, and should continue to be in the Halo Universe.

Thats 6 games plus all of the novels, anime, media etc that 343 has put out, it’d be silly, not to mention a poor business decision, to the things they can use to make money instead of expanding it, by adding more good guys, more bad guys, more guns, more everything… don’t take any away, ADD. I think they should just remove the story so we can have elites in MM. Multiplayer never needed a story.
Who wants every battle to be a training simulation? No one! So how about you get rid of the story 343. It does almost no good, and causes some harm. We would be better without that story.
Had this come up a year ago, I probably would have raged and fought and pleaded. But now? I can’t really say I’m surprised.
My decision is made. I have other games I can play.
