Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

> I just wish that 343i would acknowledge us, say “sorry for taking out Elites but we have our reasons, here’s a cookie”, just let us know that they know we exist. Unfortunately this may never happen.

This would be nice. All i want is on good reason, just one.

343 Industries can -Yoink!- -Yoink-, I seriously might not buy Halo 4, I might just rent it, because 343 decides to ignore the communities like this that made Halo what is today and betray for their stupid -Yoink-. Instead of addressing the real problems, the interesting and creative posts and threads, and the smart part of the community’s ideas, they gave all of their -Yoinking!- attention to the over competitive -Yoink- and no life MLG -Yoinks!- who complain that Halo isn’t competitive enough or the morons who compare Halo and Call of Duty, hell threads about the -Yoinking!- lighting of the game were more important to them than good threads like this one. I love Elites, forge needs improved, forge needs to have AI like grunts and etc in it, and ideas like this were always given the attention they deserved when Bungie handled Halo, 343 Industries, you’re disgraceful. Good day.

Agreed. I can’t for the life of me think of a good reason, and believe me, I’ve tried…

We appreciate the support, but please keep the flaming to a minimum. We’re not trying to start a war here.

because they made a story to the multiplayer, and elites dont fit in with it. But honestly, they should of either fit Elites into the story, or not even made a story at all, it is not worth getting rid of elites

I honestly think Elites got cut for this one and only reason. With the armour mods and other stuff coming I don’t think they might have had time to actually put Elites into the game (and be playable) without disrespecting the community and giving them the non-customizable Reach Elites that can only be played in certain playlists. I have a feeling in H5 we will see Elites, Spartans and maybe in Forerunners in MP!

I’m sad don’t get me wrong but when Elites return I want it done right H2/H3 style they deserve the best and I believe 343 will give it; just not in H4 sadly!

It can be done in 7 days from scratch…

Probably; but I imagine thats the excuse they’d use. I mean how can we get 343 to see we NEED playable Elites. I didn’t play them all that much in H3 but I always knew the option to switch was there for me! Ugh this is the worst news in the history of Halo! Maybe they can fix it and add them?

> Without jumping to conclusions, I understand that Sangheili have neither been confirmed or denied for the Multiplayer of Halo 4, but I would like to present my explanation for why it is imperative Elites make a return, much more dignified than the limitations of Reach.
>
> It is no doubt the Elite community within Halo is small, but having been involved with it for 6 and half years now, I am astounded at it’s growth. As more Halo media like The Return, Halo: Cole Protocol, and Halo: Glasslands makes it’s way to the gamer, the more compelled the gamer is to prefer playing as an Elite over a Spartan. Especially when the media makes reference to things found on a game level, such as Thel 'Vadam or the Revenant. Although that sounds like a very basic and broad way to explain this, after speaking with the populous of newly converted “Elite players”, this is the general reason I get for this exponential growth. To make this point, I ask you to look around, and in nearly every thread you will see at least one or two users with Elite or Covenant avatars.
>
> 343i, I would like you to recognize that we are here collectively, and we deserve the respect and catered opinions just as much as the Spartan fanbase. Although extreme, I know players who actually will not buy Halo 4 if they are not available in Matchmaking, and I cannot say I blame them. What would Halo be without Covenant Weapons/Vehicles as well? Energy Swords, Needlers, and Wraiths are all iconic symbols of what makes Halo, Halo.
>
> The limitations of playing as an Elite in Halo Reach are indeed disheartening. Going back to the Halo 3 method of playing as an elite during regular Matchmaking can be the solution. Not only does that add to the customization, but it can also be explained canonically. I understand that 343i is in the process of delivering a canonical explanation for the Red and Blue Spartans fighting each other. The relationship between Humans and Sangheili can be used to add Elites into this mix. Since the UNSC and the Sangheili are allied, having them use human weapons is anything but non-canon. Or if you would like to take the reverse side of the coin, ONI is supplying the Servants of Abiding Truth with weaponry, which is human as well. This can easily be weaved into the plot without creating a mess.
>
> I understand the game is very far into the development stage, I do not know for sure, but judging by the newest ViDoc, I believe it isn’t too late to give the Elite fanbase a voice. We’re here, we shouldn’t be neglected, and if we are, I can assure you that 343i will lose a great deal of supporters.

Interesting point of view, it would be a shame to miss out on halo 4 just because you can’t play as an elite in Matchmaking. I do enjoy elite slayer and I vote for it when ever it is presented just because it is something different and mostly because I like to use the evade armor ability I see no reason why a spartan can’t do that. I am excited for Halo 4 and I look forward to playing it and seeing what new things they have in store for us.

I guess we have to wait what 343 officially says about Elites in multi-player. So far I am not happy with what I am hearing.

Don’t mean to dissapoint you , but you won’t be able to play as elites in halo 4. Multiplayer is based on spartan 4s training aboard the UNSC infinity and that means Spartan vs Spartan encounters. 343 said elites wouldn’t be returning as playable characters :(.

No sangheili fan really is right now, especially when they remove something that was around 7 of the 10 years of halo

I’m just giving a few examples, I’m not 343i but it’s not that hard to get a few good reasons.

  1. They don’t fit the story, spartan VS spartan training, no more, no less.
  2. They’re not needed, playing as elites adds nothing fundamental to gameplay, and it’s only in Reach elites even been different beasts at all.
  3. They would have to spend time creating armours, weapons, skins and abilities not to mention balance them against the human counterparts, very had and would take a lot of resources for a very niched feature.
  4. Few game modes need elites, a part from invasion, there are very few game that need or benefit from elites, and invasion could easily be done spartan VS spartan.
  5. Elites are not a part of the ordinary MM experience, they were never present in Halo CE or Halo 2, in Halo 3 they were just a custom skin for spartans, didn’t even affect gameplay much.
  6. It wouldn’t be worth it, simple as that.
Create unique weapons, abilities and characters for multiplayer that would need the same time and balance as the whole other sandbox with human stuff, for a few playlists, hardly seems worth the time or the trouble.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against elites but I can see many reasons for 343i to scrap them for their first Halo release, they’re not that important to teh game and hence can easily be scraped for the time being.

elites were playable in halo 2’s MM, so yeah

They were playable in H2 just not online I believe!

Seriously? Getting rid of the Elites just to make “canon multi-player”? You got to be kidding me!

I guess you are right Grumbledock. They are probably going to change the game so much with these new armors and abilities and they do not have the time to add a whole new armory as big as the Spartans for Elites. Still is a trade-off I am not happy to hear.

We should gather together the leader’s of the clans. Hopefully if we create a loud enough voice we could convince 343 of there error and maybe return the Elite’s for Halo 5. I refuse to let this community just die.

> Seriously? Getting rid of the Elites just to make “canon multi-player”? You got to be kidding me!

If Forerunners really are the antagonists of Halo 4, 343 may make them multiplayer characters as it would be possibly canon on the Infinity
