Sangheili (Elites) In New Trilogy Matchmaking (Part 1)

Could it be that Elites in earlier games were portrayed as more hunched forward as it looks like a more “combat ready” stance? Now that animations (like everything in games now) are a lot more expansive and can support a more dynamic range of poses?

I’d argue that it is more of a tech thing, and perhaps newer models rig better in that stance. Either way, it wouldn’t be hard to to get someone to write the tech to batch edit the rotation of the neck bone across multiple animations (in theory).

Sounds like it could be possible, and I’m willing to bet that Halo 1 did a similar thing that the Mass Effect series did with aliens using the skeleton designed for humans and then manipulated to create elites. I’m also willing to bet that Halo 4/5 uses a unique skeleton rather than a modified Spartan one for Elites and that may be a reason we don’t have them in multiplayer (aside from multiplayer being the now canon wargames simulation).

Halo 4-5 elites are, just ugly as sin… that’s what 343 wanted, they wanted them to be ugly because there not our friends… nor are they bungies era elites, they have the freedom to do what they would like with the style.

They don’t look right for the sos, but there ‘okay’ for jul.

Sounds about right. Small companies need to find creative solutions to fix problems and reduce workload. Making a game like Halo is a massive undertaking.

I’d argue though, that the core reason we don’t have Elites in matchmaking is 343’s adamant narrative focus on Spartan IV’s.

Ehh, overall you either like it or don’t. It’s fine whether you enjoy the look or don’t, it leads to discussion and whatnot and that’s great.

at least the h4/5 elites despite being “ugly” have more expression than the reach elites. (that and they don’t have a permanent smile stuck on their face)
